I think it has more to do with legitimacy than importance. They’re a relatively new country so showing the people that the government is recognized as the legitimate one by all these other countries elsewhere may prevent them from supporting other groups that might threaten the government.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone from Turkmenistan who managed to immigrate to another country because they hated their life there, under the dictatorship, still feels pangs of nostalgia when they see this, even if they know on an intellectual level that they shouldn't feel that way. It sounds like the singers are messing up and singing some wrong notes, but I think it's weirdly intended to sound that way because they have a very different musical style than we're used to in the West.
