* Thank you Weatherby for producing a double barrel shotgun with double triggers. As a bird gun double triggers are so advantageous. Also, for a bird gun, extractors are environmentally friendly.
Extended choke tubes with that outrageous blue band is about as ridiculous as I have ever seen on a field configured SXS. In addition, although I could not tell for sure, it looks like the muzzles are flared to accommodate the choke tubes. If they are, that is very noticeable on a SXS VS and O/U.
The double triggers are a plus as well as the extractors to keep the mechanics very simple.
It looks hideous with the chokes and gold lettering. The barrels are flared to allow it to be stronger for modern high power steel loads. That part doesn't bother me so much as it weight 7.5 lb instead of 6.5 or less for an upland 12.
Great video! I have been looking at adding a side by side to my arsenal, this might be the one!
I've got one in 20 gauge, very nice looking Turkish Walnut on mine. The "bluing" is a dark black that does NOT hold on the barrel and action. The huge gold Weatherby and PLAIN black on the other side and the double triggers are way not as nice as my Fabarm 20 gauge Autumn single trigger and all other features, but it is 1/5 the price.
i do love a side by side
That's a great looking shotgun!
I really hoped for ejectors. I like quick reloads. I am a big boy, I can pick up my own hulls. But I can’t reload quickly enough for 3rd shot with extractors.
I agree! I like ejectors, especially if someone lives in bear country (which I did for 5 years). I'm older than the guy in the video. If I can pick up an empty case or two, then he should be able also.
Man, it looks just like my CZ Bobwhite. Same trigger details! I bet its the same gun lol. Looks awesome!
They are different. The CZ is better value and looks better. The Orion is heavy as heck and has that gaudy gold lettering and blue external chokes. It weighs SO much for an upland gun. I couldn't put it down fast enough. I found an old AYA for less than half the price that outperforms it in every metric, including looks.
Both are made in Turkey, but by different factories.
@@ronaldjohnson1474 Thanks for the input. I wondered about where it is made.
Looks good like a shotgun should! You gave a good description / explanation except for one thing: It does not have ejectors. Not cool. BTW - Where is it made? Weatherby does not make firearms.
Is the receiver steel or aluminum...?
Steel
This may be a silly question, but where is the shotgun made?
Turkey
Great stuff 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
They needed to do 16gauge to 28 gauge
I saw a video the other day from another Y.T. gun guy and he shot the same shotgun, but it was in 28 gauge at a Weatherby company shoot.
Looks great I love it, am considering buying one.
Too bad they don’t make one in 3.5” chambers.
This double is at the edge with the 3" chambers!
Yeah, 3.5" loads would be having you visiting your dentist.
Also modern ammo is so good 3.5 loads are unnecessary.
Extended tubes on a side by side, nah not my deal, don't need a kickstand on it either for future reference
Weatherby says you can use flush chokes if that’s more you style
@@kellycherpin1394yeah, too bad they’re not included. If you don’t want to have a clown gun you have to spend $200 plus for a set of flush tubes.
@@leifhoklin2681I don’t think you can even replace them with flush ones
@@fritz4573 Per Weatherby's customer service, you cannot.
This gun is also made in .410.
wish it was made in 28ga
perfect
I love the no ejectors , easy to bag spent shells
Muy buenas armas amigos saludos elegante
How much did you pay for it?
MRSP is $1099
Why, oh why, did they RUIN this otherwise beautiful side by side with hideous, blue, extended chokes?! I just dont get it.
Just buy flush choke tubes for it. If you read some of the reviews it goes into why they went with the extended tubes.
According to the design and sales team the extended tubes patterned steel shot far far better than flush chokes.
@@Flyfisher79 That's what I was thinking too; however, when I emailed Weatherby's customer support, the response was that flush choke tubes are not available for this gun.
I just wish it wasn’t made in Turkey.
Lots of Turk built side by side guns out there. It’s not the name shooters look at, it’s the build.
Unsightly gold letters on the side, a Weatherby made in Turkey, and stopped watching when I saw the chokes. Don't need to see any more junk. I bet it even comes in a plastic case.
🇪🇨🇪🇨👍
Just saw one in person . Not a fan of the finish. Looks like poor craftsmanship. Typical Turkish shotgun. Probably shoots great but doesn’t look good doing it
Too bad they billboarded WEATHERBY on the side in giant gold letters . I wish companies would stop doing that trashy crap. I know what kind of gun I have I don’t need to be reminded in giant gold capital letters every time I reach for my gun.
I agree. It's garish. I'm happy to see companies make more side-by-sides, but contemporary ones are rough in comparison to traditional English shotguns.
@@iankelley7574Yeah well not many people have $5K to step up in quality. This is why SxS guns have lost popularity. I can get a $2K Baretta 686 O/A which is good quality for a still affordable price. Where as there are no options for SXS guns in that price range. It's either = $5000.
Agreed. Imprint the company name discreetly on the barrel like the good old days
Agreed - so garish
So it's a yildiz with bulges at the ends of the barrels to accommodate the chokes, and no ejectors? What an abortion.
Ejectors are garbage when your in the field, just dumps that shit on the ground then you gotta pick em up lol. Better to have a dump pouch pop the shot one in there then grab new shells
@@Misfit5W Must've been enough people who wanted ejectors to invent them...
If you don’t like the blue chokes ,there are replacements available.I do like the two triggers which I prefer. For the price it’s probably not a terrible gun. I own two FAIR side by sides and they are very good guns. 20 and 16. Fausti is offering a new model side by for about 3300.00$ through Cabelas, Bass Pro. Well made Italian guns but the cost is considerably more. Not a lot to chose from in this gun style.
I have two Fabarms (Caesar Gureni) which are 5X the money or more. @@tomhman6441
Ejectors are for sporting clays, extractors for field hunting. Pick up your shells.
I would never buy a firearm from Weatherby. They totally screwed my friend on some ammunition . They charged him 120.00 for 20 rounds and sent the wrong ammunition. They wouldn't take it back, so to hell with them.
