I so want to read Gordon R Dickson's books. And want to read Glen Cook's works. I have read some Zane Grey and Louis L'amour novels and really enjoy those, so I'm always on the lookout for more westerns. Great haul!!
Just subscribed!! -- Side note on " Shane " - a good novel but more influential in genre fiction and Hollywood. As many stories across many genres uses it plot. : action films like Nowhere to Run, On Deadly Ground, Pale Rider, Steel Dawn , elements of the Road Warrior, or foreign films like A Distant Cry From Spring and even newer Superhero films like Logan ( 2017) -- Although the book is pretty good I found the 1953 film an Improvement - a rare example of the movie surpassing the book to some degree- ( its no Bumsider )
For Westerns keep a lookout for The High Rocks by Loren D. Estleman or other Page Murdock Novels. Very much in line with pulpy sword and sorcery. Just some good action. No sappy stuff.
haha oh man now that was a Ninja Master promo. The Edge series is one that I have yet to find. That Crown kung-fu book I reviewed not to long ago was written by Terry Harknett also and it was pretty damn schlocky awesome.
Love me some good old westerns. I need to make a few new haul videos to shoe what I got. Butall mixed up in the western library so If have to dig em out
Yes, Poul Anderson! 😎🙌 As for myself, I have this month received the final two novels in Mary Gentle’s “The Book of Ash” series (Alt-History Military Fiction), “The Wild Machines” & “Lost Burgundy”, as well as a Hardback Edition of Tolkien’s “The Fall of Numenor”, Matthew Harffy’s “Forest of Foes” (Historical Fiction set during the Anglo Saxon era) and “The Women of Troy” by Pat Barker (retelling of the Iliad from the perspective of Briseis, “War Bride” of Achilles)! Cheers!
@ I forgot to mention “The Lion & the Sword” by Roberta Cray (Fantasy inspired by Alexander the Great’s Conquest of Greece: Something of a hidden gem going by the few, but enthusiastic reviews, I saw that glorious cover by the lauded Tolkien Illustrator John Howe, and just had to have it!😄). I also next month expect Parke Godwin’s “Firelord” (Arthurian Historical Fiction) and books 3-6 in Christopher Ruocchio’ “Sun Eater” Space Opera series: “Demon in White”, “Kingdoms of Death”, “Ashes of Men” & “Disquiet Gods”! Also Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍁
It'll be interesting to see your reaction to Shane since it is a Classic. The Trailsman sound a lot like the Longarm series, one of which I read and reviewed for June on the Range. Those are Westerns that have a lot of sex and violence.
Not too into westerns but I have this Ace Double I want to start called, "Beware of This Tenderfoot" by Roy Manning. Is "This" a pronoun or a determinative article? I need to know! The flip side is "Bad Blood at Black Range" by John Callahan sounds pretty standard but might be good you never know. I've never read any William W Johnstone but I buy them whenever I see them because they always sell well, so there must be something there. (But not the co-authored ones with JA Johnstone.) I found a collection of L' Amour leatherette editions for cheap and sold them off to buy more fantasy/sci-fi. I read the Dragon and the George so long ago I don't remember a thing about it, but I was also reading things like The Worm Ouroboros and Titus Groan at the time. I'll keep a lookout for The Edge novels, nothing like some gratuitous violence.
That is an awesome Gorilla-Lamp!
@Jxd87 lol. He really adds to the cozy atmosphere, I've found.
Hail to the mighty Castle Rat! NIce shirt!

Thanks!
I've yet to find ANY Black Company in the wild! I would have grabbed those and nice find on Sweet Silver Blues!
Sweet Silver Blues hurts my heart! I feel like falling on a sword if I damage a book.

Thanks for tuning in! I definitely need to read further into the western genre. It's one of those cultural blind spots I'm looking to fill in.
Omg 😂, that trailer for your guys next live, easy Daniel Son! Great haul and great video Tim. Always great stuff!
@kevintowle9665 Thanks a ton, Kevin! Have a great Thanksgiving/Birthday, good sir!
I tried fighting a caravan once on holiday in Penzance. Hurt my fist and got thrown off the camp site.
Dude, you should look for John Benteen's Fargo books in the wild. I've heard them described as "Conan the Barbarian: The Western."
Sign me up!
@@smilerwithagun Sounds awesome! I'll keep my eyes peeled, thanks! 👍

Now I want to write Steve Buscemi sword fighter. He's comic relief until he turns scary. Good haul!
@erikwaag6438 That is legitimately a fantastic character idea, Erik. I await his inevitable appearance in Skarde 4: Skarde VS Steve the Destroyer.

@@PeculiarNotions They had a ton of Longarm books. I almost grabbed one out of morbid curiosity. Maybe next time...😅
