His stories don't add up. You can open a bank account and get direct deposit. Even if you have no money if you get a monthly check direct deposited a bank will help you open an account. Or you can buy a card at Walmart for like $20 and get your check put on that. Even despite that I think they will send a replacement card if yours is lost or stolen. And on top of this he says he is a lawyer that owns a four bedroom house but for some reason won't take him to court to remove him. All you do is go to the court house and file an eviction notice and they set a court date. After that the cops will remove him.

He reminds me of a mentally ill man I took care of...he came from a wealthy family...my client is very schizophrenic/very smart. Inherited $300 thousand dollars from his grandparents...opened a high end barber shop...then schizophrenia took over. He ended up on the street...robbed a bank with a fake gun because he got cold...waited for the cops to come on a couch. He got ten years...then we got him in our facility. We got him on the right meds...got him housing. He still gets $10 grand twice a year from a family trust to supplement his SSI. He has a payee...keeps busy doing dishes for a local church when they need him. Write cards/ letters to everyone he knows. I got him hooked up with an apple IPad which he loves to download music...send out blogs. He is watched carefully so he isn’t taken advantage of.

I know its a long process evicting people and they can live for free in a spot for a long time, but eventually they'll get kicked out. And even if you have no money you can just go to the court house and file an eviction and they waive the fees if you don't have money. But none of this guy's stories add up and on top of it he acts really slow like he's either on alcohol or some medication or drug. You have somebody who is clearly acting like he's on drugs/alcohol that says he's totally clean.

I knew someone just like this guy. Highly intelligent, but lazy as all get out. He also, like apparently this guy, liked to tipple. Very gentle, harmless, but too freakin lazy to do a day's work. I think he was confused, thinking early on that G.i.V. is doing a video for a German audience. He should go back to Indiana, dry out, and let the Amish take care of him. But he better be willing to do at least a minimum of work, as much as he is physically able, or he's out on his butt. My friend was immensely lonely, as this man appears to be. He was also cheated out of his house, but by his brothers. He finally dropped dead at a bus stop in Maidstone, UK one autumn day in 2013 at the age of 80. From the looks of this poor old guy he's not that long for the world.

He's not telling you a lot. I'm sure you noticed he bounces around answering stuff. Also... AMISH ORIGINS ARE GERMAN... so they speak it fluently. Not just in Germany. Amish wave of sorts goes from ny down to Pa, across to Indiana, lower Michigan like a swoosh... iowa.. etc.
And what German weren't amish were near by to the Dakotas, Minnesota etc. They stayed close to the amish mainly many were amish that chose to no long take part in the lifestyle.
There's a funny movie about a group of teens going through a certain sorta right of passage. They get to go bn out among non amish and try their way. It could be from a weekend to choosing to leave. But once you leave, your out.
My 1st love was German, literally. He was the 1st generation born in America. His father was like 5 when they traveled here. He died about 8 yrs ago... funny thing is, he never spoke German atleast not while I was around. He was USAF stationed in Germany too, but settled in Vegas. My bf is here in San Fernando valley...

It’s funny to me that these people that are Native born US citizens live in the street but we have people that come from other countries with nothing in their pockets and become very successful. It just goes to show that if you’ve got the desire to succeed in life, you can. The majority of these homeless people want to live the way they live and want everyone to feel sorry for them. They want everything handed to them. This guy plays the victim in every sense. He says he owns a house but someone took it from him. He says he has social security benefits but he lost his card and can’t get it back. All that sounds like a bunch of BS to me. If he really wanted to do something with his life he would. The homeless situation is just going to get worse if we continue to accept excuses from these people and don’t force them to help themselves instead of giving them handouts.

I'd drop $10 on his table if I was there. But, I only want to help him, not change his decision. I have 3 "kids" in their "60s". At that stage of life here is now way to change someone else.
Note, he only wants papers, and shows no need to alter his way of life. Rant - OFF

I'm Disabled, a Veteran, and have been homeless for two years. I'm not a drug addict, just lost my housing two years ago when the Apartment Complex I was living at was sold to a buyer in Toronto, who promptly notified the tenants living with Section 8 or VASH assistance was given the option to move out or pay full market value rent. I found while looking for a place to move to, that most low income housing was eliminated in this same fashion by greedy investors.
I bought an old van on payments and was forced to start living in it. I did so for a year and was offered a tiny fiberglass trailer on payments. I found that the person I bought it from had mislead me on a clear title, and have had difficulty getting it registered and legal to tow. I have been stranded at a Recreation Area, above Kingman Arizona for seven months now trying to get repairs done to my van. It is no longer safe to drive, and definitely not suitable to tow my trailer. It has been a living hell, upto 128 degrees at times this summer, now dealing with freezing cold at night and heavy winds. Every time I try to get some repairs made, something comes up. I bought a used generator which failed in a couple weeks, had to buy another one, then my emotional support dog Archie was badly bitten and required veterinary care, my air conditioning compressor failed in my Van, I cut my knuckle to the bone and ligaments on some glass discarding some trash which resulted in an Emergency Room Visit. I have been trying to get help, and have not much success. I was accepted for Rapid Rehousing through the Catholic Charities, but have searched all over Mohave County but found I cannot afford an apartment on my disability income. I am now in a panic as I was notified by the Catholic Charities Caseworker handling my information, had their computer stolen and now my personal information has been compromised. I am on a waiting list for Section 8, basically started over. I did not choose to be in this homeless situation, and have been doing my best to deal with everything I have experienced the past 2 years. I had to literally give everything I owned away when I lost my apartment EVERYTHING!, I did try and keep my many tools, but those to were lost by a "friend" who was going but keep them until I get settled, but would never respond to my calls or texts. I am absolutely sick of my life. I don't live anymore, I merely exist, and it's not much of an existence. I have not showered in nearly 8 months, and haven't bathed in over two years since losing my apartment. I have reached out to every VA organization or service center for help, but am ineligible. I served 6 years in The Air National Guard, and was honorably discharged, but still don't meet the requirements as I was on active duty for well over a year with Avionics Technical School, and was activated during Desert Storm, but could not deploy with my unit, as I was a 3 level technician straight out of school. I have no family for support, no friends, only a few people I have met while being homeless. I have had a fellow vet brings some water bottles and food items several months back, but I don't see how I can ever get out of my situation as my limited income doesn't suffice.

Hey man, Im so sorry for what youre going through. Honestly man. Can you leave AZ? Also, keep trying to reach out to more of these yourubers like you are! I am sorry bro. Try and keep your dog and you safe and keep in mind that SOMETHING has to come along, but only if you fight towards it. Pray on it. I feel stuck as well and have been homeless for a very short period but nothing compares to what you're dealing with. Mitigate your risks, and hedge your bets. If the trailer is a burden- sell it off for parts on Marketplace or otherwise, and pay to fix the van. Or since youre parked anyways sell both and find one solution that will work (I see Ford Connect vans for like $2000CDN here and there are practical af, or a regular minivan like Vanlife Vancity does). Always find a way to link into free wifi and browse your buy sell sites to find items you can use or flip- EVERYTHING you buy should come from there except food and other necessities. Eat a good clean salsa with every savoury meal- trust me salsa has a ton of nutrients, save on prepping 5 different veggies and will keep your bodies metabolism going. Idk if im helping or just stressing you out more because I struggle so much as well. Would love to live in the USA and AZ but I say that now- I just know I dont want anyone struggling like this unless they truly earned that spot. You didnt earn you position and where you are and you deserve far better. Also the idea that this life is all a giant test to determine our mental toughness, and how much we can each endure, or how we act when given too much, etc.
Nihilism is never the answer though. Have faith broski

I feel bad for this fella, but his story doesn’t completely hold water. He said that his father left the Amish and fought in WW2. He said that he himself only has some memories of being Amish from when he was very young for a few years. WW2 ended in 1945. This guy said he’s 63. That means he was born in 1957. His father would have been out of the Amish community for at least 13 years minimum by the time he was born. I’m not being judgmental, just stating facts based on what he said. He seems very nice and intelligent, but I suspect his stories are the result of some issues that he may have.

Especially in LA, appearance matters. Jeff is not employable, that seems pretty clear. He, like countless other homeless people, regardless of their skills or intelligence, has no means to 'clean up for an interview'. You can't be employed without a permanent address. A lot of mentally ill people become homeless, but we should remember that the stress, anxiety, and general difficult living conditions can CAUSE mental illness.
