Can't disgree with that list and I own many of them, of course Sam's Journey is no1 I absolutely loved playing that game through start to finish. Provision and Psytroniks showing everyone how it is done.
Thanks again OSG! Totally agree, Sam's Journey and Pig's Quest are top notch. I'm so excited about all the great releases on the C64 nowadays. Carry on and have a nice weekend!
Excellent video as usual and great selection of games. Loved MW Ultra and Pig Quest. Protovision and Psytronik have really been producing quality games over the last couple of years. Your channel is always worth watching - subscribed!
Neutron looks like a homage to Star Force, cool. Nice collection of games m8, gfx and sfx are excellent. I've played a few, love the shmups, Pig's Quest and Sam's are right up there, really taking the C64 surely to it's pinnacle? It's awesome to see the old C64 still alive n kicking! Great vid, I'm a in MW Ultra too!
Wow what a top 10 the only game I've played on that list is Sam's journey which is an amazing game, I need to download some of these to my Maxi, especially those shooters
Ive bought Sam's journey last year, but this nice list gave me some more ideas of games that would interest me, probably Neutron, Its magic 2, Pig quest. Unfortunately only downloads, dont have a real machine.
@oldstylegaming true..I had an atari st after the spectrum and I believed it was better than amiga lol ..used to argue at school with amiga owners vrs st owners ..now I'm alot older and wiser I have an amiga 1200 with crt monitor and whdload ..oh boy was I wrong ...
@@markveganism5003 still though i bet you wpuldnt change your past ...to you the ST was the best and thats the great thing about when we were young, you made the most of what you had.... nowadays kids have everything so theres none of that
@oldstylegaming 💯..I remember playing street fighter on the st ..my memories was that of pure enjoyment and I thought the game play was great ..now I've seen it with adult eyes 👀 it's absolutely shocking lol ...nostalgia is a truly beautiful emotion
I 100%'d Sam's Journey (on real c64 hardware). My stupid completionist brain got tricked. It wasn't worth it. Completionism is rarely worth it unless the game actually offers meaningful and interesting extra challenges. Not busy work.
1:58 - that's what she said.... On a serious note though - is this game made on Shoot 'em up Construction Kit? It looks exactly like it from what I remember. Biggest blunder of my gaming life was trading Shoot'em-up CK, with a friend for Pang... just because it was on cartridge and I liked the arcade 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ The C64 version was terrible. It pains me to this day... 33yrs later!
I was going to get a digital copy of Sam's Journey, but 20 euros for a Commodore 64 game?! That's way too steep for my liking, and I'm not even looking at getting the physical copy!
That first game looks like a rip off of super space invaders but not as good. Are all c64 games so washed out in colours ? I had an amstrad 464 plus back in the day and I was expecting some colour, everything looks sun-bleached imo.
Thats what all Amstrad owners say and yeah the c64 colours were washed out but we had great scrolling, graphics and music on there... tbh I never liked the Amstrad colours they were way to bright.
@@oldstylegaming Yeah I can understand some people may like it more, but it reminds me of every single game on the xbox 360 , like gears of war and the like, its like they forgot there was more colours than brown, was it a technical limitation that caused it ? or was it by choice to not add colour ? Amstrad had pretty good music too thought right ? and graphics most of the time unless it was a speccy port then it was bit of a letdown but thats the speccys fault imo.
@@memcmeepants2392 it was a colour pallet choice, the colour is there but you have to turn rgb setting right up to get them. Some Amstrad music was ok but nothing came close to the C64 Sid chip. If you like Amstrad you should check out my mates channel www.youtube.com/@Xyphoe He does loads of Amstrad stuff and live streams every Friday
All the music was simply amazing. What a machine the C64 was. I want to return there please😢😢😢
Was? It's still alive.
It was said of the SID in the C64: "10 times better than anything out there, and 20 times better than it needs to be"
The C64 is still massively popular, infact, its better now than it was 30 years ago!
I'm impressed by the soundtracks of some of these.
Metal Dust soundtrack is unreal
I really want to try A Pig's Quest and Sam's Journey. Thanks for the reminder! Looking forward to your Psytronik video.
They are great ...yeah Psytronik have some brilliant games
Class video. So many games from them I have not played including Sams Journey and Galencia.
You would like Galencia for sure mate, Sam's Journey is class like
Can't disgree with that list and I own many of them, of course Sam's Journey is no1 I absolutely loved playing that game through start to finish. Provision and Psytroniks showing everyone how it is done.
some great new games mate
Always great to see a new OSG video.
Thanks mate :-)

You too mate
Neutron looks amazing, Starforce is one of my favourite arcade games so deffo gonna check that out
Sams journey is just pure class mate, it had to be top. Still not played a pigs quest, that needs to change!
Stunning stuff! The starforce clone in perticular looks fun.
Who'd of thought 30 plus years after being discontinued some of the best games would come out on it. Amazing and big shout out to the devs

Thanks mate
The graphics in this list seem especially impressive! I wouldn't have thought it's possible on a c64.
You're lucky mate, my missus wouldn't even pick up the controller! 😂
well she did actually tell me to f*ck off at first......
Get another, desperate times calls for desperate measures
@@oldstylegaming should have told her , "its either you play the game or make me a sammich, take your pick"
thank you
There's a few on here I need to look into. Great vid mate 👍
Never got to play the commodore back in the day 😢😢😊😊
you missed out on the nostalgia but you can still enjoy the games now
@@oldstylegaming I had the Atari 2600 back in those days.
My mate had a 2600, I have one now but not back then
Sam's Journey is Amazing and Great Music.

Yeah i dont see how it can get much better than Sams Journey and A Pig Quest
Really pushing the C64 to its limits here.
definitely, I mean apart from Metal Dust they all run on a normal C64...mind blowing
Wow what a top 10 the only game I've played on that list is Sam's journey which is an amazing game, I need to download some of these to my Maxi, especially those shooters
"I love a hard shooter" he says keeping a straight face 🙂

I have a real c64 and hardly ever use it, i always emulate
bigstackD Casting sent me here ... New Sub👌
Thanks for the sub!
Interesting list, varied games. Might give them a go. PS, why does your wife hate retro games?
Cos she says they are crappy old games.... she likes NES games and Megadrive...shes 6 years younger than me so sort of missed the c64
I have Pigs Quest and Sam's Journey , both worthy of the top 2 and both bloody good. I think i prefer Pigs Quest for its detail, scope and challenge.
C64 passed me by ,I had a spectrum my mate had amstrad another c16 ..didn't know anyone with the c64 ..missed out really
Anyone could say that about any system that wasnt theirs like i feel i missed out on spectrum

I and my Father are One John 10 30
so the 2nd game is a clone of star force on the arcade
