    It seems everybody on TH-cam who hears Nightwish/Floor Jansen are absolutely 'knocked out' by their epic, jaw dropping, grandiose symphonic rock experience. Shame that the mainstream music media are missing out, but there again, what with their 'Simon Cowell music' mindset, they probably wouldn't be able to appreciate it anyway, that would be asking too much.

  • @fdsannie

    They do have an orchestra and a choir tape running in the background. It is the London Philharmonic and their choir. There is a lot of songs as you probably have seen. Especially with the three singers repeating songs. I have a suggestion in how to do them. Pick a day of the week and do Nightwish on that day. That way you won't go to crazy and you will keep all of the Nightwish community happy. Just a suggestion! You can say Ann you are crazy and I would agree with you. 1st song you did was originally done by the 2nd frontwoman Annette.. this one was originally done by the 1st frontwoman Tarja.. next reaction you should check out something thats on Floor's album.. i recommend either Shudder before the beautiful.. or Endless forms most beautiful..
    the band has 3 epic tracks.. this is 1 of them.. Poet and the Pendulum is another(pausing is needed to avoid copyright.. a good 4 or 8 spaced pauses should work.. and the Wembly version is the best) The Greatest Show on Earth is the biggest and longest masterpiece.. the most requested version is live at Tampere 2015.. you commented something bout Satanism in your last vid.. they not Satanist but Atheism is what a few are..
    almost all Nightwish requests will want live versions.. by "almost" the only time a studio version will get requested is if either no live version or listenable live version exists.. or if its a track from the 2nd frontwoman Annette.. some will disagree but very rarely was she amazing live.. average to horrid.. and shes not bad.. her voice just didnt fit for most the tracks
    nice to see you continuing the journey

    Happy to see you give Nightwish another chance. Just like with most bands/artists, there are also fans that are sometimes, or even always, way too emotionally involved to understand/accept that the tastes for music of other people may be different, and that not everybody likes the same bands/artists that they do. Nightwish is no exception, which you probably already learned after your first reaction to their music. Fortunately, this band is so versatile in mixing influences from different genres of (metal) music, that they can offer many enjoyable songs for you also, if you continue your ride in the Nightwish train. Just let us know about your taste in music so that we can come up with Nightwish songs to match that as far as possible.

This gets more people hooked on Nightwish than many of their other current songs. Floor sounds like it is spelled in English. Jansen only sounds a little different because the J sounds like a Y.

    Good rebound and Floor is amazing especially LIVE!! Her power, range and stage presence is truly remarkable. Now if you want a heavier metal song try Romanticide ( th-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/w-d-xo.html) and hear how Floor and the bassist, Marco sound as a dynamic duet. Nightwish switches up their sounds from symphonic, to hard rock, metal, ballads and even pop and with Floor they have a vocalist who can sing all of them and often switches up even in the individual song.

  • @meganroberts551
    @meganroberts551 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think in order to understand the band and it's fan base you have to know a bit about the band first, what drives it and the pure creative inspiration that is Nightwish. So, here's the skinny on what's been happening with Nightwish through the years, the decades. Floor is the third singer, believe it or not The Phantom of the Opera performance was Tarja's (the first singers) last performance before the band had to let her go: th-cam.com/video/9kjmjkKjXo8/w-d-xo.html The reason being that she never really felt like this was her path. Originally, when Nightwish was formed it was going to be more of a classical based band. Tuomas, the keyboardist, writer, and composer of ALL their music, noting Tarja's operatic training brought her into the fold and basically formed the band around her voice. Being that they were all good friends and growing up together, it was very hard for them when she started to drift away, missing the practices and started making statements about leaving the band. Some credit her being influenced by her businessman husband Marcelo Cabuli, who was incidentally overheard on numerous occasions making statements that "Tarja was the face of Nightwish" and that she "could do much better without the band". Floor was actually the 'fill in' singer back when Tarja started missing the practices. Then they hired Anette (the second singer) and she was with them for a time until the whole debacle at the Denver concert when they all got seriously sick and she had to be rushed to the emergency room... then she broke her ankle in a fall when she was pregnant. At that point Anette just wanted to heal, have her baby and be close to home. So they moved Floor to the position of lead singer. The song The Poet and The Pendulum, which was written and wholly composed by Tuomas, was all about the dark time around when they had to ask Tarja to leave. Tuomas and the band suffered depression over their feelings of betrayal, especially Tuomas who was affected the most, to the very point that the band, family, and friends were worried about him committing suicide. You can see in The Poet and The Pendulum that it's his journey working through that depression, those dark times. The Poet and The Pendulum was Tuomas's written suicide, instead of doing the actual act. The very last words of the song are about forgiveness, love and making a fresh start, "In the end I will always love you....The beginning". So very very hauntingly beautiful. IF you haven't seen it, you really need to. It's a heavy, dramatic song that some have a tendency, in their Nightwish journey, to watch too soon. IF you do get around to It, it's one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever written. th-cam.com/video/gbn9GczYBkw/w-d-xo.html Also you will notice that the drummer Jukka Nevalainen was replaced by Kai Hahto due to Jukka having debilitating insomnia. Too, really you need to check out their Greatest Show On Earth performance. By this point they have also added a remarkable multi instrumentalist with Troy Donockley. As a warning, the song is roughly 21 minutes long but well well worth the watch: th-cam.com/video/aTAaEHiGjvU/w-d-xo.html There are many many songs where Marco (the bass guitar player) and Floor harmonize beautifully both of their amazing vocal ranges a compliment to each other. Above all else Enjoy!!!!

    This version of this song is actually better than the 2016 version.
    In this version, Floor draws out her vowels, in the 2016 version she doesn't.
    In this version, Floor does that long drawn out ending that we all call the Floorgasm, in the 2016 version she doesn't do that.

    You mentioned in your previous video: you are not listening much metal, and this is even your first time hearing something from the genre symphonic metal. So it's forgiveable, that you were falling into some "Don't"-traps with those first steps ;-)
    Pausing during symphonic metal is difficult, and too much talking over the music is even very, very difficult. If you do both, you'll miss nearly everything. Don't get me wrong: It's absolute ok, to tell us your impressions in between. But if I may recommend: Better make a pause in a "good" moment, then talk, then go on with the song (and it's also ok, if you would step back a few seconds to not miss anything).
    Many things happen inside this music, and every song is inviting your feelings to go on a journey to..... I think you kinda realized that in this song now, which is a good thing. This was a real nice reaction. Not because you like this song better, but because you were more focused on what's happening (what eventually could have made the difference imo ;-) ).
    So... you may now choose in a box of 100 songs, which one should be the next (if any). They have a lot of different songs to offer, every single one epic in his own kind. I will be here to watch your reaction on all of them, cause I simply love to see all those individual journeys into the world of Nightwish.

    Ah, you came back to NW. This is a fan favorite from way back in the earlier days off the Once album with their first vocalist Tarja Turunen. Storytime was from the Imaginaerum album that was recorded with Anette Olzon. I wouldn't say Floor is the best of the three, although she is more versatile and can cover all the older songs from the first two vocalists because of that. Tarja has a beautiful operatic voice. A really great example to check out that showcases her skills is The Phantom of the Opera performance from their End of an Era show: th-cam.com/video/9kjmjkKjXo8/w-d-xo.html. Anette struggled at times live, so studio recordings are probably the best suggestions for her. She had a more poppy style and the Amaranth music video is a pretty popular one with her: th-cam.com/video/GdZn7k5rZLQ/w-d-xo.html. Floor Jansen (you said it right the 2nd time, pronounced Yansen) has only recorded one album so far with Nightwish and that was Endless Forms Most Beautiful. They are currently in the studio recording for the next album though. If you want to check out some of the stuff from that album recorded with Floor, again live is usually best because of Floor's outstanding stage presence, it kind of depends on where your preferences lie I suppose. If you like heavier stuff, there's Yours Is An Empty Hope from the Nightwish cruise: th-cam.com/video/XtXqUNB8zrU/w-d-xo.html, or Shudder Before The Beautiful from Wembly: th-cam.com/video/7oQ8sNSYXmQ/w-d-xo.html, or Weak Fantasy Tampere performance: th-cam.com/video/AN239Pbqbjo/w-d-xo.html, although some people prefer the Wembly performance, my guess is because of the popularity of Wembly, or the shorts Floor wore there.😂 Could be that too. I just prefer the audio mix from Tampere personally. Or...if you like lighter style music, there's My Walden at Tampere: th-cam.com/video/J8Xwr1kTEdk/w-d-xo.html or Alpenglow (I'll link the Wembly one because that one is requested far more than the Tampere one, again maybe because of those shorts, but it is what it is): th-cam.com/video/FrJvKZNEh7g/w-d-xo.html. There's plenty more if you find yourself still wanting to delve deeper into Nightwish, but those are good examples of songs recorded with each of the three vocalists. You'll get a lot of requests for songs from this Wacken 2013 show because it was shortly after Floor joined Nightwish to help them finish the Imaginaerum tour and she "Floored" the 82,000+ fans that night. The entire concert really is something special to behold. You've probably already noticed how amazing the audio mix is from that show. There aren't many live shows with audio quality that exceptional no matter what band you're talking about. Keep it up.🤘👍💯
