The coaches with the bars across the window or former southern electric slam door trains you can tell this when the class 68 pulls away as the coaches have front windows .the Severn valley railway is an amazing railway and you filmed it in all of its glory great video
Excellent video, Will. There is something unique about the sounds of those older diesels. I visited the SVR last year and hope to do so again this year, maybe for the Pacific Power Gala.
I really liked the class 20s! Great to see and hear em'! I'm also glad to see that they brought the latest and greatest in UK road power to the Gala. I hope to visit the UK one day. And that was indeed a 50 at the end. Blessings and best wishes from the USA!
Will, your video is excellent as expected. I love the bit of Of your country that I can see. It is a beautiful country. As I have told you before, I'm all but crippled plus I have no money to travel. So I love these glimpses of your country. Diesels are not my thing but they are fun to watch anyway. Heck they are trains and I do love trains. Thank you, another job very well done. And I agree with you, the Black 5 is a beautiful steam locomotive.
Never a fan of the 33s but wow that engine sound takes me back to the days when I travelled to and from Cardiff back in the day. I couldn't be at the gala this year (usually it's October anyway) but definitely next year now. And as much as I was never a fan of the 33s, how I wish I could see them now on the national rail system.
Yes I experienced the same person with pink iPhone. Was on the deltic and they were on as well one of the people she was with was shouting deltic deltic out of the window
Hi will, what a great video I enjoyed every moment because i didn't get to see it myself and it was great to meet you, and I found your little joke funny "where am I, what is the meaning of life" haha
I've bin to Severn Valley Railway ive bin going since i was a little kid with my nan and granddad also one time seven valley Railway did a war reenactment at your Favorite station Highley.
I’ve done some diesel driving on a heritage railway with a 37 and 50 we were instructed to leave stations slowly but I think every driver will tell you that is not followed
The teak thing is actaully London Undergrounds 4TC which isn't even teak because its vinyl and it has window bars because of the tight clearances on the tube.
HI Will, have you ever been to the Llanberis Lake Railway in wales, its at the foot of Snowdon and is just across the street from the snowdon moutain railway? There are some lovely little locos there and the view of the lake is amazing.
I live in Kidderminster and I think I saw you that day but I didn't go up to you (or the mystery man😄) in case it was some random guy lol keep up the good work and on station hill (the hill which the station is on) go down towards the roundabout and there on the left is a brilliant little model shop called footplate where the owner (Brian) will give you a great discount if you ever need a cheap train to review! Brad
6:17 D182 is a class 46. 10:38 I like the Ivatt 2MT as well as the Black 5 and many other LMS steam locomotives because they look a little like American steam locomotives, but still very British. 10:09 the engine's name is Gordon, but he was built before Thomas' big blue friend was. 10:56 The Thomas Wooden train table is a mix of old and new. The track and table is old, but the engines and rolling stock are newer. 17:34 I don't think in any American tourist railroad I've seen people lean their heads out (unless the the coach is an open air car) 20:00 the engine's name was Western Campaigner 21:54 Does any model train company have a Class 68 out yet? that is Superb! 22:04 the class 66 is named after the Severn Valley Railway. Maybe someday in the distant future, the loco will be housed on the railway. 23:09 the A in Railway is missing from the Hotel sign!
Highley station is set in a very lovely location. I would like to re-create that sort of feeling in my railway, I just need to draw up some interesting track plans which isn't the easy part for me :( Anyhoo the Black 5 is my favourite loco too. Cheers, Michael
you should have came to see the 66 on Saturday i was on it all day i would have like to have met you. When you were going through bewdley i was sat at the cafe having a break before the return trip. I will be posting a video soon on my proper channel Peak Dale Wood of some cab footage. 66 + Bewdley tunnel = a nice sound.
also good job you wasn't on the last trip with the 37 and 73 because i don't know if you know but the 73 fell off the back of the train. also the 4tc set ran out of electricity so it was pitch black on the way back.
You'd be surprised how many companies want to get in on the act when they catch wind of a diesel gala. Product advertising + A bit of extra cash for the railway = Win/Win for everyone.
I was just suprised really. A modern-day diesel / electric locomotive was the last locomotive I expect to see at a Diesel Gala. I expect to old diesel locomotives, not modern ones.
The coaches with slats over the windows are called the 4TC, it was down at the bluebell for their gala a few weeks ago. They are Mark 1's with almost like vinyl teak coloured stuff on the to try and make them look like Metropolitan Railway coaches. Awful looking things in my opinion, what did you think of them?
In addition I believe the slats are there as the coaches were used on the london underground and obviously it wood be rather hazardous to have your head sticking out the window in the tunnels. You could knock it off :P
The coaches with the bars across the window or former southern electric slam door trains you can tell this when the class 68 pulls away as the coaches have front windows .the Severn valley railway is an amazing railway and you filmed it in all of its glory great video
Watched the Deltic at 12:57 pull out of Kidderminster on the way up, always loved the sound and feel of them on the move
very good. I was there all 3 days, fab time had.
This is my favourite heritage railway, and it also happens to be my nearest!! Nice video!!
Excellent video, Will. There is something unique about the sounds of those older diesels. I visited the SVR last year and hope to do so again this year, maybe for the Pacific Power Gala.
Smashing footage ,,,, great watch many thanks
i have been non the cab of the deltic there. it was at barrow hill in the deltic preserve society which o am part of. it os awesome
That video was great...... thanks for filling it..
I really liked the class 20s! Great to see and hear em'! I'm also glad to see that they brought the latest and greatest in UK road power to the Gala. I hope to visit the UK one day. And that was indeed a 50 at the end. Blessings and best wishes from the USA!
Great stuff! I spent a lot of Friday on the footbridge near the Kidderminster station :)

I was pulled by 48773 on the SVR back in Oct 2006! 10 years ago 😵
Great vid Will 😃 some cracking diesels there
Never a fan of the 33s but wow that engine sound takes me back to the days when I travelled to and from Cardiff back in the day. Great video! My brother lives like 5 mins away from the station there.
A 28 minute video? Yes mate! Wish I could've been there with you but great vid none the less :)
Hi will, what a great video I enjoyed every moment because i didn't get to see it myself and it was great to meet you, and I found your little joke funny "where am I, what is the meaning of life" haha
2016 Jae, you're so cringey 💀
Awesome video Will! The Deltic's and the class 52's AKA western's are by miles my favourite diesels but do not beat steam loco's
I live in Kidderminster and I go to the gala every year and I'm going when the flying Scotsman comes
I've bin to Severn Valley Railway ive bin going since i was a little kid with my nan and granddad also one time seven valley Railway did a war reenactment at your Favorite station Highley.
AAnd the overt 2mt 46443 in 1950 for an freight train and I thaught it was scrapped too!
I’ve done some diesel driving on a heritage railway with a 37 and 50 we were instructed to leave stations slowly but I think every driver will tell you that is not followed
Also was pulled by Ivatt 46443 as well
The teak thing is actaully London Undergrounds 4TC which isn't even teak because its vinyl and it has window bars because of the tight clearances on the tube.

Thank you for sharing. 😀
Brilliant video
What happened to the Warship Greyhound ? But nice to see the Wezzie with headcodes that it cannot use now on mainline trips .
Brilliant video! Would go myself but too far, although I have booked a hotel for two nights for the Pacific Power Gala!
Nice!!!!

Hey Will have you ever seen any special coach that can stop delays called slip coaches
Go down to the ecclsbourne railway in Duffield!
Highley station is set in a very lovely location. I would like to re-create that sort of feeling in my railway, I just need to draw up some interesting track plans which isn't the easy part for me :( Anyhoo the Black 5 is my favourite loco too.

Did you know that my grandad helped take the signal box at highley down brick by brick at its old location to bring it to where it is now
Are you going to the Severn vally when flying Scotsman there
Ironic that tomorrow is the start of didcot railway centre's diesel gala that I'm helping out at
I've never been to there - and need to go!
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the LMR train on the Watercress line?
Great vid,you should visit the churnet valley railway and its "anything goes gala".
The Severn Valley is the home of the class 50 preservation society, I think
That blue diesel is also a Class 55 (Deltic)
9:49 That engine used to be Thomas!
I drove 45110 fro an express run in 1954 and bought the loco from the lms in 1966 and I thought it wasmScraped
It was the same weather when I went to the east lances Will😒☔☂
I don't live far from the longest heritage line in the UK!
at Swanage we have 33012(D6515) 33111,330202
Ha Will and Jae are my mates lovely video mate by the way
Will I've just realised how better your preservation society's are
Good video spoilt by too much camera shake/movement which could be edited out
Can't beat the sound of a class 20
you should go to telford they have a 141 original pacer
you should have came to see the 66 on Saturday i was on it all day i would have like to have met you. When you were going through bewdley i was sat at the cafe having a break before the return trip. Diesel enthusiasts always get drunk at the Worth Valley. That's way we don't do a diesel gala coz everyone throws up on the train
how come your british diesels sound so much cooler than american ones?
Iv got a hornby Deltic
14:03 Thats me! not the ginger one. :D
What camcorder do u use? And how much was it?
Why where there a Class 66 and a Class 68 there? These are not heritage loco's!
