Today's NBA is chess compared to NBA checkers in the 80s and 90s. It is such a more complex, wide-open game now that 3s make spacing crucial and that makes defense so difficult, and the brute physicality of the past has now been replaced by spacing and switching that opens the game up in the full halfcourt. Anyone who likes the paint-dominated, pushing and shoving of the past compared to the elegance of the present should just switch to hockey.

This is the problem with Draymond. He’s still a damn good player, as long as he can stay on the court. But the older he gets, the worse he’s going to play, and the angrier he gets, and the more techs he gets
