  • Harley Davidson Chrome Fork Install. We will show you step by step to rebuild or replace your front forks. I install chrome lowers on your Harley-Davidson Road Glide.. Any questions just ask, This wasn't that bad of a job. This was done on a 2022 Road Glide.
    Tools Needed
    19mm Alan ahead, Top bolt.
    long 12mm hex. bottom of fork bolt.
    Torque spec. Damper tubes - 30 to 37 foot pounds.
    Top plug - 28 foot pounds.
    clamp bolts - 14 to 18 foot pounds.
    Front axle - 55 foot pounds, 7/8 nut.
    fender Hdwe. 1/4 - Allen head.

    Good stuff Rocco. My next project on my 2021 Road Glide. I already have some pitting of the stock lower legs. I just need to get a hold of a 19 mm allen and a 12 mm extended allen wrench. Super easy to follow instructions.

    Rocco, that was some nice work. I've never done anything that involved on my bike but I too would love to have chrome forks on my bike. I have an 09 Road King Classic but my forks are NOT as severely banged up like that 2022 Road Glide. Thoe old forks almost appeared as though something ate through the outer layer. Very informative video. You make the task look really easy. I guess it is if you just take it slow and remember where and how things were set-up prior to unbolting stuff. My memory goofs up on me and I'd hate to screw-up something this critical. Thanks for the great video and ride safe. Don in NC 👍🏽🤠 5/21/23

    That's no Florida accent you have there Rocco. You don't miss the snow do you? 😁
    My 2012 StreetGlide lower forks had a clearcoat on them but, it doesn't last long. I painted the fork lowers on my bike.
    When I rebuilt the front forks on my 2000 WideGlide, I sanded the fork lowers and polished them using and electric buffer. They look like chrome now.

    Did I miss it? What is the piece that goes on before the fork seal? I think you called it a bushing. At 16:08 you hammer it in with the pvc piece. Also, what size pvc pipe? Excellent video! Thanks!

      Happy to help. Yes, that would be the bushing. When you buy the seal kit, go to Home Depot and match it up to a PVC pipe I don't recall the exact measurements.. The Fork Tube is 49 mm..Thank you for watching and all your support Boomer.. Ride safe And have a great day.

    I have 22 years of fltrx.If I replace myself at home without a check machine, exactly how many cc should I put in the Halli Davidson touring fork oil?

What I meant, index it so you know where the thread starts with the tube so when you push down on the top cap, you set it a quarter inch before your thread starts and makes it a little easier to start the thread off because it is a fine thread.     I got a 99 roadking it has air suspension on the front. I want to put chrome front lower forks on it, but kind find aby videos on it

      Happy to help. New seals and Fork oil. I use 15 weight on the new install. It was a 49 mm pipe Home Depot bring a seal with you and match it up.       Yes we did. If I remember right it's 49 mm seals but get them from Harley Davidson get the fork fluid from them to.@@edh7970

      Wow, awesome quick reply. I have done this before on another harley, maybe 25 years ago. AND willing to do it again. I remember there was a brass ring inside the fork tube, but cant remember the model. Maybe a sportster, but just cant remember. Totally disgusted that my street glide lowers look as bad as they do. @@TwoWheelRocco

      wow, quick reply. I have done this before, on a harley but cant remember the model. Maybe a sporty. it had some brass or copper rings at the bottom of the fork tube. weird. Im disgusted that the lower tubes look as shitty as they do after only 1 year on my street glide.

      I agree. I believe the dealer designed it that way, most people will go for the chrome Home lowers or the black lowers. And yes there is some piece, you have your bushings they're brass and you have your washer that's right after your top bushing, watch the video. It's pretty straightforward. Thank you for your reply.
