OMG!! I tried this out and my results were amazing! We have the same hair type. I've been trying for SO long to get my curls tighter and nothing ever worked! I tried expensive to drugstore products. I purchased a great dupe for the behairful brush and I almost cried when my hair finally was PERFECT! It sounds dramatic but I really AM so happy! thank you so much for this video.
i just want to say , thankyou for everything to be honest. you were the first person i’ve ever found who has experienced wet frizz and i didn’t even know what it was until i watched one of your videos ! i will definitely order some of the products you mentioned ! i have a good feeling it will work for my curly hair . so thankyou very much !! i also subscribed 😉💕
OMG thanks so much Gena. I bought a wet brush, boar and pin brush today. First time using it to style my hair from damp. I can't believe it. What a game changer. My fine low density hair has great curl pattern and volume. Even my thin hard to cover crown is full and hidden. Its like its not my hair. Brilliant!! thanks so much for the styling brush tip. Regards. Sher.
I came back to comment that it was YOU--not Facebook ads, Instagram, other TH-camrs--who sold me on the Behairful brush. After watching this video, I ordered one, and loved it so much that I will be ordering the kit that comes with a travel size and a regular size. Thank you!
@Ayah Awad me, It's way better cause when you brush from the roots to the ends you're causing more split ends and when you brush from the ends to the top you're causing less damage to your hair. I forgot if Brad Mondo said to do that or another professional person but you should do that it doesn't hurt much as pulling knots off your roots. You should grab a section and twist the top twice and brush what's in your palm and go up. You'll see a huge difference :)
Can’t wait to try the behairful brush! I will say I remember hearing the fewer the rows in the denman the bigger the clumps! So remove a couple of you want bigger clumps 😊 and twirl at the bottom a few more times to get tighter ringlets. I know- more effort lol.
This is is exactly how my hair looks when I used to use a denham brush. I switched over to a behairful a long time ago and I have not regretted it! It’s expensive but definitely worth it!
Where can I find a behairful brush? I didn't know us curly hair girls had to brush out hair a certain way, now that I know.. I must have this brush lol Btw thanks for all the tips 🤗🥰💜
I loved both results! But if I had to choose maybe I would say the Behaour just because I like more clumped curls.. Like I feel they look more tidy (?) thanks for the video it was very helpful!!
I love your Behairful results! I have never heard of this brush before, but I will pick it up soon and will use your affiliate code when I buy it. Thank you for showing it and for being so thorough! Also, I would never have thought you had low density hair based on your results!
I get better curls with the behairful but I don’t love the tension, it really really pulls and I have thick coarse hair so I feel like it pulls even more. You should try the curl keeper flexy brush
Wow! The price of the Denman brushed has skyrocketed. I remember paying $10, at Sallys beauty supply, for mine. This was 7 yrs ago though. Inflation is a beesh.
I have straightened hair in my profile picture and it’s an older picture but I actually have 3a curls. I just got myself a denman earlier this week, and it was still only $10 at my local sally beauty supply! I think it’s just more expensive everywhere else, especially online, for some reason.
Loved how you Included that behairful is better for wavy hair. Could you do more videos that can also be applied to wavy hair , my son and daughter have wavy and curly hair. Thx u.
I loved this behair brush result BUT it is too expensive. I bought its dupe Denman D81M and it is awesome. It performs exactly like your behair in this video. I forgot all of my other brushes for styling my curly hair (fine, 3A/B. porous, low density)
To b honest 😭😭😭i love u sooooooo much sister😭❤❤❤u r my only inspiration and guide to my hairs🙁and i dont why but i just understand your videos in this curly world🤕❤pleaseeeee never stop making such videos and i wish one day i could meet u🤗🤕 and pleaseeee never let ANYONE let u down cuz you r amazing!!!!❤💥
Really great comparison between the two brushes. I use the Denman but looking at the behairful brush, it really makes me want to try it as well. I’m definitely going to start using the Denman brush ONLY for styling and NOT fro detangling. I made that BIG mistake got a lot of hair fall
I love the denman brush I use it to detangled and it dose wonders for me. It has really grate slip but I do detangle in the shower so that might play a part along with my hair texture being different.
I totally agree! I have wavy type 2 curls and the Denman did nothing for me! I actually used a back combing comb twice now for defining and it's crazy the curl pattern I got! The comb has boar bristles mixed with plastic and obviously more narrow compared to a brush. I think it's the tension that does it!
Thank you so much for an honest review and comparison. I love the results from the Behairful brush. I still haven’t been able to figure out the Denman, but after this video I think I understand why it just wasn’t working for me. I have a Wet Brush that I’ve used for detangling. I wonder how that would work, before I jump on to the “Behairful” train. Waaaaaaayyyy back in the day, when I grew my hair out past my bottom, I used a boar hair brush. Had to chop most of that off for damage, since I wasn’t really tending to it with trims, back in early college years. Thank you again!🤗🌻🤓
That helps confirm my suspicions as to why my curly hair specific brush I got doesn't work as advertised. There's no tension. It just glides right through. But growing up in the 80s and 90s, when I used regular hairbrushes with tension, I lost my curls. The brush just pulled them out. So, I've been shaking my head for a decade+ at curlyheads who use brushes. I'm still not sure there's any brush that will work for me to enhance my fine, low density curls. When Lorraine Massey came on the scene 20 years ago, I ditched brushes and my curls improved. I got volume and curls on the top of my head for the first time. My crown used to be flat and straight. So if you or others wonder why some of us are anti-brush, now you know. They don't work for all of us. Still, I'm intrigued at the new brushes out there and might find one that works for me one day.
Well they're not just detanglers, they're also advertised as styling brushes. It's not just about brushing through your hair, but the specific angle and twirl of the brush you employ that actually makes the difference. If you brush down and curve in/twirl it through the ends of your hair, you'll emphasize the curl pattern on the bottom, which tends to be the heaviest and where gravity weighs down. If you go backwards by twirling/curving in the brush from the top and then go straight down, you'll get more of a spiral look. If you twirl individual strands and wrap your hair around the bottom part of the brush all the way through the handle, hold a few secs and then pull the brush out, you'll get more of a Shirley Temple curl. If you weave the individual strand in a zig-zag and then unfurl, you'll get beach waves. If you twist the individual strand as you twirl, then they'll look more like loose twist curls. There's more techniques, but you get the gist. The brush is only a tool and the rest depends on you. Much like an artist with a paintbrush, the tool alone is not enough, the application is where the magic happens. In which case, sometimes it's the user and not the equipment, that is the obstacle.
I use a brush similar to the denman brush (the pattern beauty shower brush) and today i finally bought a denman brush to see if there actually is a difference. But, after watching the video i just bought the behairful brush lmao. I looooove how smooth the behairful brush made your hair!
I have very fine and thin hair, the Denman is ok if I pull tension and curl it around the handle. I just started using the Behairful brush and prefer it for my hair. The tension makes it easier to distribute product and style for my type hair.
Amazing! Absolutely inlove with the behairful brush but I also just scrunch the leave in and gel with wet soaking hair as styling method if I feel my hair to dry because it’s faster so the moisture will stay. I haven’t figure out yet how to keep the moisture in when I style with a brush :(
This was soooo helpful!! Thank you. I’ll be getting the Behairful brush, for sure. I have a denman that works well for my 2b/2c hair, but let’s see if I can make it even better!! 😊
Seems like a wet brush would work like the behairful brush. Similar shape and way cheaper and would not pull fragile hair nearly as much. What do you think. Love your videos BTW.
She said the Denman doesn’t have a lot of tension 😳 It has TONS on my hair unless I put next to no hair through it!!! Lol. I love using my Denman, but I wanna try this now!!! I’m just scared of the tension lolllllll
When you were using the denman brush you took small pieces of your hair, which is why it wasn’t working as well and with the other brush you took bigger pieces
Hi Gena, I tried ordering the Behairful brush after viewing your video and I never received it even after contacting the company many times. I'm curious, how did you get your hands on one?
Could you please let everyone know that Behairful has not fulfilled any paid orders for the last 3 to 4 months. I purchased a $69 Behairful brush on July 14th after watching many of your videos along with other influencers. I have sent at least 10 messages to their company over the last month and a half and have heard radio silence from them. Today their website had crashed. I know that this is an older video but so many people look to you for advice and tips on how to manage our curls. I love your videos and have gained a tremendous amount of wonderful tips and tricks on how to manage my curls and will continue to turn to you for the latest updates. It would really be great if you could post a disclaimer or delete your posts that included the Behairful brush. I do appreciate your knowledge and advice. Respectfully submitted, Emma
I haven't done a strict test between both brushes when it comes to refreshing. However, I tend to reach for the Denman more for refreshing because I don't like my curls to clump and stick together too much when refreshing.
My husband does not know how to do the typically tight goldilocks Jewish side curls ( like in Brooklyn ) on his head. He's going crazy with the perm rods and trying to use gel and sleeping with them on. There do not appear to be any instructions that deal with this special subject. A suggestion is to use some kind of home perm(??). Seems that would be a last thing to try. TIA.
Good evening Gena Marie.. The Denman brush leaves waves within your hair..Behairful for leaving you with the smaller curls~ ringlets....As the saying is you get what you pay for... The behairful brush is 💯 percent the brush we need.. Presentation phenomenal.. Thank you for sharing Sincerely Tee Jay
Denman. I have very long hair that can’t take pulling, so a grabby brush is out of the question. I’m mostly a 3A with 2C in the crown and 3B by my neck area. I have with medium texture (I assume that’s the indy hairs) with low density in the front crown and medium density elsewhere. IDK my porosity. The hair dries fairly quick except in the very back and the 3B makes it highly frizzy no matter what I do. When I had a keratin treatment, they did it the old way (not drying it before using the flatiron), she did TWELVE passes on that section and it still wasn’t smooth! When my hair is blown dry it looks very thin, especially on top, so I decided I was tired of that and when I saw a photo of myself from the summer, I noticed my hair looked so much thicker dried naturally. When my hair is curly its wildly thick. I used to have the most gorgeous thick hair but unfortunately with age that goes away a bit despite everything I do to thwart it. BTW, Denman makes a D4 which is better suited for detangling.
I have very high density hair and it is medium to coarse. No matter what I do I can’t get rid of the dry frizz. I have only been doing CGM for about 3 months.
The results after behairful brush looks better. I think that Denman starts twisting the curls from their medium lenght down. I observed that on my hair too. I get better results with just brushing my wet hair with Wet Brush than with Denman.
Ughhh .. I’m on my 30 day curly hair/wavy journey.. the way her hair looks wet is how mine does.. but as it dries, the curls drop to a more wavy look 🥺 I have wavy pieces and my more curlier pieces are underneath closer to roots and my baby hairs framing my face
Can you please give some tips on separating big curl clumps I have been using the denman for around a month now and i am loving the ringlets it's giving but those ringlets just get clumped up even after separating them with oil in my hands when my hair is completely dry
Yes i include tips for that in this video: th-cam.com/video/WRLneDiWYE0/w-d-xo.html And also this one: th-cam.com/video/CKtbiuYH-uc/w-d-xo.html I like to alternate the direction that I turn the brush, if possible. it also depends on the size of the section you pick up, and how you section it off. I also break up the clumps when my hair is wet so they dry more separated. Hope that helps!
I’m curious as to how the Be Hairful brush would treat 2A-2C curls. About 3/4 of my hair is 2B/C and the rest is 3A. The Denman brush made the 3A curls gorgeous but really lessened 2B/C to barely 2A.
Thanks for the review! So I have been doing doing the curly girl method for about 5 months, my curls are more defined but how long is it going to take for the frizz to go away? My hair is always so frizzy and I was just wondering what the estimated time is that it takes to not be so frizzy.
Are you using a microfiber towel? That helped with frizz for me. Also I recently learned ... cream before oil. I never knew that it mattered which order I applied products. I had a huge issue with frizz until I started following the cream first rule. Might be info you already know, and of course everyone's hair and curl pattern is different. But it was super helpful when someone told me, so I just thought I'd share :)
@Genamarie Hi love your videos! Could you tell me - The Conair brush that you were using in the most recent videos, which of these two and that do you recommend for fine low porosity curly hair? Thanks!
Does the Behairful brush cause as much shrinking as the denman brush? Slowly trimming off damaged hair by keeping my hair shorter and getting regular haircuts but the denman definitely makes it shrink up.
I have fine thin curly hair and I can’t get a curl at all with using either when using on wet hair. My hair is 3c to 3b curls with scrunching when wet. The denman brush creates a strand with barely a wave. I have followed the exact technique. Wondering why this happens.
I'm the same! I bought the 5 row denman and have tried it with 5 rows and 3 rows and I just find that it completely knocks out any ringlets that were naturally forming and makes my hair straight, even when I follow this technique! Don't understand it 😜
Hi Gena, I’m new to your channel. I have super damaged curly hair. It’s very dry and has especially on the outer parts no structure. I started with your routine a week ago BUT I HAVE 1 Question: how long does the journey take to see results? Thank you❤️
Thanks for stopping by! It can take a long time to fully grow out your hair. You can improve your hair by taking care of it, but overall it takes time to grow out. I have been "transitioning" for about 3 years now and finally in a great place.
I can't believe what a difference a brush makes. The denman definitely did separate your curls more, I do like the chunkier ones the other creates though. Your hair always looks fab and both ways look amazing. I can't get the Behairful brush here in the UK so may have to find a dupe. Also, should you really be losing bristles on the Behairful, I think I'd get in touch with them, it's a lot of money to be losing part of it 😊
The Mason Pearson brushes are boar bristle only, while the Behairful is a mix of Boar bristle and longer synthetic bristles. Also, the Mason Pearson are more tightly packed with bristles as far as I can tell, which is why they’re great for creating smooth and shiny effects. I haven’t much success with MO brushes on my curly hair tbh.
Hi Gena. Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with receiving their order from Behairful Brush. I pre ordered on November 13 and still have not received mine although funds were drawn on that day. I have communicated with them and just get excuses and delays. Is this site legitimate?
⚠UPDATE I no longer recommend this brush due to poor customer service issues reported and company practices. I wanted to leave this video up for the tips and instruction, but you can use a similar brush, such as this vegan option that I love: amzn.to/3rG3WwX

Oh no! I'm sorry that it didn't work for you. It's definitely not ideal for tangles

Loll. Idk how I feel about it. It is somewhat rough on the hair

Hi Gena, I tried ordering the Behairful brush after viewing your video and I never received it even after contacting the company many times. I'm curious, how did you get your hands on one?
Does anyone knows if I can find the behairful brush on Amazon? I liked it a lot BUT I don’t trust other websites besides Amazon to ship my items 😅😅😅
Respectfully submitted,
Emma
I just bought a denman brush too 😢
I still love the Denman brush! It's worked well for me for a long time now. Definitely give it a try.
Saaaaame. But I do like it
I think both styles look great! Curious if you noticed any more or less when refreshing? Like did one hold up better than the other?
The Denman brush leaves
waves within your hair..Behairful for leaving you with the smaller curls~ ringlets....As the saying is you get what you pay for...
The behairful brush is 💯 percent the brush we need..
Presentation phenomenal.. Thank you for sharing
Sincerely Tee Jay
My curls definitely seemed tighter with the Behairful!
@@GenaMarie
Yes!!!! I agree
I loved the behairful brush side the best 😊
This was very helpful. 👍🏻
I really want bigger curls. I have a D3 and I believe it’s the D9. I love them but I really want bigger curls. What should I do to achieve it?
Can you compare the behairful brush with the denham d81m/s ??
I have very high density hair and it is medium to coarse. No matter what I do I can’t get rid of the dry frizz. I have only been doing CGM for about 3 months.
Where can I find the Behairful in Canada? Tried ordering from their website, but the shipping cost is almost as much as the brush itself 🥴
I have the 7 row Denman..... please tell me i don't need another brush lol
I love both! 💕🙌🏼
The results after behairful brush looks better. I think that Denman starts twisting the curls from their medium lenght down. I observed that on my hair too. I get better results with just brushing my wet hair with Wet Brush than with Denman.
Ughhh .. I’m on my 30 day curly hair/wavy journey.. the way her hair looks wet is how mine does.. but as it dries, the curls drop to a more wavy look 🥺
I have wavy pieces and my more curlier pieces are underneath closer to roots and my baby hairs framing my face
Can you please give some tips on separating big curl clumps
I have been using the denman for around a month now and i am loving the ringlets it's giving but those ringlets just get clumped up even after separating them with oil in my hands when my hair is completely dry
Yes i include tips for that in this video: th-cam.com/video/WRLneDiWYE0/w-d-xo.html
And also this one: th-cam.com/video/CKtbiuYH-uc/w-d-xo.html
I like to alternate the direction that I turn the brush, if possible. it also depends on the size of the section you pick up, and how you section it off.
I also break up the clumps when my hair is wet so they dry more separated. Hope that helps!
@@GenaMarie thank you so much💜
Can you link the gel oil?
I’m curious as to how the Be Hairful brush would treat 2A-2C curls. About 3/4 of my hair is 2B/C and the rest is 3A. The Denman brush made the 3A curls gorgeous but really lessened 2B/C to barely 2A.
I think it would be great!
Ohh i have the same kind of hair! I am very interested too!
Do not detangle while dry it will cause a lot more breakage than when it’s wet
Thanks for the review!
So I have been doing doing the curly girl method for about 5 months, my curls are more defined but how long is it going to take for the frizz to go away? My hair is always so frizzy and I was just wondering what the estimated time is that it takes to not be so frizzy.
Frizz never full goes away unfortunately, but I've learned to reduce it and work with it :)
@@Kim-bp1kb thanks for the info! 😊
I currently use a cotton tshirt to dry my hair. Is a microfiber towel different than a tshirt?
@@ajoyfullsound nope! Its different in the sense that it's a different product but it works the exact same way.
@Genamarie Hi love your videos! Could you tell me - The Conair brush that you were using in the most recent videos, which of these two and that do you recommend for fine low porosity curly hair? Thanks!
Is the denman supposed to come apart
New with this...... how do I know which way my wave/curl is supposed to go? Thanks!!
If your curls are tight enough to make a spiral, you can just look at the top of the strand near the root to see which way it bends originally.
Hello,, denman brush is a kind of brush or brush merk?
How would you rate the denmen d4 which has 9 rows against the behaiful which seems to look more similarin tension?
Great question! I haven't tried that one but I want to next.
@@GenaMarie Thank you!
What’s the difference between the Behairful vs Wet Brush?
Does the Behairful brush cause as much shrinking as the denman brush? Slowly trimming off damaged hair by keeping my hair shorter and getting regular haircuts but the denman definitely makes it shrink up.
Yes I think it causes more shrinkage because it makes tighter ringlets. Depends on your curl type though too
I have fine thin curly hair and I can’t get a curl at all with using either when using on wet hair.
Oh my goodness I'm so slow, I have no idea what you are doing with that brush when you do the twisty thing
I want my hair super curly but not that much volume
I can't believe what a difference a brush makes. The denman definitely did separate your curls more, I do like the chunkier ones the other creates though. Your hair always looks fab and both ways look amazing. I can't get the Behairful brush here in the UK so may have to find a dupe. Also, should you really be losing bristles on the Behairful, I think I'd get in touch with them, it's a lot of money to be losing part of it 😊
Thank you! I just read on their site that they ship worldwide :) Did you try and see? behairfulbrush.com/discount/GENAMARIE
@@GenaMarie oh wow, I didn't see that, thank you, I'd just looked on Amazon and some other British sites. I'll go on and look now, thank you 😊
Do you think the behairful brush is similar to a Mason Pearson brush?
I’ve never tried that one!
Yup I waited for mine for a month with just excuses! Decided to cancel the order
I need to try the Behairful brush. The Denman did nothing for my hair.
Wow 🤩 Gorgeous!!
the result with the behairfulbrush looks much better on you, fuller hair. The denmanbrush gives you volume but you can see through your hair
Man! I cant never get these brushes right lol.. Sticking to finger coiling, Great video tho,
