You are killing it on The Police songs. I’ve got to try these add9 voicings. Love the way you demonstrate breaking up that E with the treble strings on the up strum.
@@jonmaclennan I know I should already be doing this in other chords. It sounds like you’re doing a lot more than you are. I may also show those add9 chords to a buddy who says he is bored playing the same cowboy chords. I’ve been telling him there are voicings that are not too hard to play that he can pull off.
We play this one in our covers band and you have clarified the middle 8 section for me. Nice job there Jon. There are overlays in the studio version which makes it difficult to pick out those chords, I wasn't too wrong in my working out but yours sounds more authentic. Thanks.
Love your lesson's Jon❤️ You are going to be my Guitar hero. The Police is one of my all time favourites 👌🏽💯🎸Thank you and let the good things roll🕺🎶💃🏼✌🏽
Thanks For The Lesson, Recently Bought an Electro Harmonix Walking On The Moon Flanger.Combine it with a Compressor and a Tube Screamer, It's Great For A 70s begin 80s Andy Summers Tone.
I wathced the first half of this, learned it, & had fun mastering it for about a week...today i figured ill learn the rest, it was time...anyway, awesome, man, thanks...andy was special, i love this, ive been playing for thirty years & have been into the police for 20, but im really starting to want to study him now, he was too concise and good...god, i love him, thanks again, awesome, short & sweet lesson....like & subbed...ginna do "every little thing next
Just checking In the Vid you said the A add9 was 7 9 Open 7 I'm sure you were playing 7 9 Open 9 Any great video and as a relative novice getting on with it ok.Cheers.
Thanks Jon. Lovely demonstration. I didn't know the names of these chords even though I've been playing them all along even for my own originals with my band as I don't know how to read or write music. It's shocking to me that I automatically played very unique chords because at the time it sounded very nice to me and the band.😊
Thank you John, really cool, I have figured most of this song in the past but you really put it all together. Your attitude and approach lets me feel positive, thank you! I love all the Police songs you are teaching.

Thanks Shawn! There ya go! Do it. And 100% yes it's simple strumming moves like that, that can make a big difference in the same chords.

Really cool, thanks! Makes clear why Sting didn't explode as a solo artist.
He didn't? he sold more albums (something like 80 million albums) as a solo artist than with the Police.
Thank you very much. Most other tutorials don't bother with the bridge at all.
