you said that I may ask a question and I ask a question :-) I have Renault Thalia with the same engine (which is basically the same as your clio) and I have made an intensive research and the recommended oil for your and mine cars is: ELF Tranself NFJ 75W80 GL4 and you menitoned GL5. GL5 is no better (simply because it is "5") -- GL5 is a completely different oil with different additives for heavily loaded transmissions and Clio is not such a heavily loaded car :-) I do not claim that GL5 will destroy your transmission, but it is definitely not intended for the Clio transmission -- GL4 is intended. also, ELF Tranself NFJ 75W80 GL4 is no longer produced and it was substituted by ELF TRANSELF NFX SAE 75W GL-4. So, the question is: how did you come to a conclusion that the oil that you use is dedicated to your vehicle, especially GL5?
The oil i used in the video gl-4 and gl-5 standards (according to motul website) so its compatible to my car. Also is the recommended oil in motol "oil selector". Also, i have a booklet that comes with my car and it says to use 75w80 oil. I do know that renault original oil made by ELF and maybe its better to use the original one. I personally dont think its that important, especially to a 12 year old car. I think that changing the oil regularly its the more important think. Hops that helps!
