  • Let's Chat Craft Cart Organization! I have always used Lexington utility carts from Michaels in my craft room. These craft carts have so many coordinating craft accessories and come in various colors that fit different craft room themes and styles. However, I recently came across the Nissafors Ikea utility cart and decided to give it a try. In this video, I do a full review of the Nissafors Ikea utility cart and also compare the two very popular craft carts. All craft supplies are below!

I have 3 IKEA Raskog carts and I love them. I’ve had them for years and they’re still looking brand new. They are incredibly sturdy and the bottoms are very strong, in the shape of mesh, but not really mesh, a lot stronger, they can hold up a ton of weight. I’ve seen the Michael’s carts at the store and I can tell they’re a poor imitation, with much thinner metal that won’t hold up. I’m not surprised I hear people say that they fall apart. I’m intrigued by this new cart, I may have to check it out. Your hair looks very cute.

So agree about the Michael's cart being lower quality than the Raskog. Same with The Container Store cart knockoff. They have more carts now. as does Ikea. Fun to see them all.

OMGosh! I LOVE this!! My Michael's carts are just "jankity'! They can't handle any weight -- the bottom splits, won't roll , and the 4 shelf model's center shelves slide down the supports -- just UGH! Thank you for this review!! I need six! Pantry items, cleaning supplies, gardening supplies, paper crafting, sewing supplies, and an empty one for a current project. These are awesome! ♥

I actually got a Nissafors cart during the pandemic for my "overflow" punch storage. I keep it in a closet in my craft room. It technically is in the way of opening drawers that are in there, but it is so easy to roll out of the way on the not-very-often occasions I need to get things that are in those drawers that I don't even see it as a problem. Mama also has one for wheeling dishes to & from the kitchen at mealtimes. I agree with your assessment on the sturdiness. I don't overload my punch cart, but it basically looks & acts brand new. I also have a Raskog from Ikea & a Raskog knockoff from Target. Both have held up very well. I am not surprised at the lack of sturdiness of your Michael's cart, though. I've never seriously looked at them, but they just seem cheap from what I could see. Seeing how much the metal poles on yours flexed though was still a bit of a shock. The way I see it, you can get lots of pretty colors & more accessories, but if the function & sturdiness aren't there, they'll just be pretty - & unusable - decorations in your space. And given what they cost for what you get - uh, that's a hard NO! Anyway, thank you for the look-see. I also highly recommend the Nissafors, as well as the genuine Raskog. Though like I said, my Target cart has held up well so far, too. So that could also be a viable option for people who don't have a nearby Ikea. Thanks again. Take care, & have a wonderful day! :)

Oh that cart looks like I need one, it would be good for my bins of metal and wood bits that I use all the time. I don't put the bins in the Lexington cart because my lack of hand strength makes it too difficult to lift the bins up out of the deep basket style shelves, but the Ikea one doesn't have the deep baskets. Thank you for sharing the cart.

I bought my carts from Target years ago - their version of the raskog carts and they are still going strong and wonderful to use! I've tried several different styles/brands and am still impressed with them. I did get a 4-tier cart from Amazon (I can't remember the brand) years ago too and while it's held up well, it's tall enough to be slightly awkward when moving it so I can't load it down like I do the others. No Ikea close to my area so I'll have to keep making my wish list lol!

You can just buy little silicone self-adhesive “bump-ons” to put on the bottom of your clear bins that are in the middle section. The bins won’t slide but you can easily lift them out. They’re also called bumpers and bumper pads. They come in different diameters and heights; silicone ones have been the best of the ones I’ve used over the years, even under the plexiglass sheets that cover my desks and counters.

Just a thought (sorry if someone already said it), do you suppose the accessory shelves that wouldn't seem to stay on the side are actually supposed to go inside the cart and hook on the edge? IDK

Because there is not much of a lip for the inside of the cart, I don't think they would really function on the inside. These accessories were actually intended for a different rail system, but I thought they *might* work with this cart.

I have 8 Lexingtons from Michaels. I dont know why anyone is having weight issues because 4 of mine are storing canned goods and arent having any issues. They roll well and dont sag like yours is doing. Im handicapped and have everything on wheels. I cant reach my higher cabinets well so these carts are awesome helpers.
I wouldnt want the ikea ones because the top two shelves have such shallow sides on them. Also the side bins etc arent very adaptable to my needs at all. As well as the colors wouldnt be good for me.
I have my lexingtons color coordinated. Such as, the green one is for produce on top and canned fruit and veg on the bottom two shelves. My pink one holds cans of protein based foods (beef, pork, chicken etc…) and tuna and soup packets on top. Lavender is for condiments, dressings and canned soups. Black is for my baking flours and other ingredients and tools. Blue is for mason jars of my preserved food. The rest are for crafts.
They let my life function much better.

One of my friends uses hers for extra canned goods and it stands up to all that weight. It is more expensive than the one you are showing but may work with your Micheal’s cart accessories. And it is the same price as the Micheals one that you have.
