Aqua is easily one of the most interesting characters in the series. Truthfully, I find her story has a lot of parallels with the work of Carl Jung.
All that and more in todays video!

"Why Aqua Matters" is easily one of my favorite episodes that we've done! The way her story parallels the works of Carl Jung is something that has always intrigued me, and solidifies Aqua as one of my favorite characters in the series.

"Have the uncountable hours in the shadows whittled away the courage I never really had...?" Hits every time

Something tells me she still hasn't conquered her own shadow. Physically, maybe, but psychologically? I'm not so sure, as we've seen in Remind when she got overwhelmed by trauma, and even before venturing into the realm of darkness once again. "Don't worry. I'm not alone this time.", possibly implying that if she were to be alone, maybe she would fall again.
if this is true, it would be interesting to have another Aqua-focused game where she conquers her shadow and then uses it like Sora's rage form/anti-form. That'd be cool!

Well, the shadow isnt something that can be "Conquered" for good - its a constant battle - whats important is she has more control over it now.

@@TheLandiLodge Yeah, it's a constant struggle. I'd love for this concept to be explored further, not necessarily in KH4 but in a future game, especially now that the concept of "sentient darknesses" has been introduced. I remember a theory i once had that Vanitas and Dark Riku's suits and their battle stance as well, are a distinctive trait of Sentient Darknesses, each of whom is based on a sin. Vanitas, would be that of Vanity; Kh1-Riku - and Xehanort in turn - would be Pride, considering Young Xehanort interacted with the Master of the Master, whose name is speculated to be Superbia, and let's not forget the "X Super" written on the box".
Anyway, sorry for my long-winded ramblings😅.

The thirteen true willful and sentient darknesses were sealed away long ago, the thirteenth darkness that was sealed in Ventus became Vanitas, he was destroyed, there are 12 left

I think Aquas experience in the World Within is poignant for alot of reasons, Anti-Aqua being the one i wanted to touch on. The MoM mustve gone through this world to fight the darkness at some point. Seeing as we can infer, based on the archetypal shadow work Aqua is doing in this world and what the Master has alluded to his relationship with the true darkness, the darkness is intrinsically linked to him, in an intimate way. The darkness speaks to the Master with the same dynamic and knowing as Aqua to AntiAqua and his intention to separate and obliterate the darkness and maybe even the light could be alluding to the MoM being unable to contend with himself and his possible mistakes. I wouldnt be surprised if Sora ends up here during/after quadratum.
Edit: Or its completely seperate and not the same...my brain, Nomura!!!!!

Are they going to do a video on the flaws of Eraqus and he followed the dogma of the master of masters before he realized his mistake after death

Hi, my friend! Just an advice: u should continue doing this "deep dives" small videos from the themes of your podcasts. It's easier for the audience to listen! Continue your good work, my friend!

Yo that whole thing with aqua reminds me of how the foretellers blindly followed the masters of master's orders specially with Invi.

So if Eraqus' Mark of Mastery was a sham and not the right way to do it, then does that mean that Aqua isnt really a Master? Since she was passed as a Master from taking a test that isn't a true test??
