I've recently been watching your videos and you have a lot of advice but I find it so overwhelming because there's so many choices out there. I recently decided to go with the line of Haru Haru Wonder and I'm going to try the line of Biossance next, but it seems like my list of skin care lines that I want to try gets longer and longer every time I watch a video........ help please!! I am woman who is 45 years old who is definitely looking for a line that's going to help me look younger and less saggy. I tend to have dry skin in the winter, but I sweat a lot and I mean a lot( I have facial hyperhidrosis) so, in the summer my skin tends to be a little bit more on the oily/combo side and very slightly acne prone in the summertime please help???? Next on my list after the
products I just mentioned is the line of Youth to the People and Paulas Choice and The Ordinary and Osea and Herbivore Botanicals so, you can see that's already a long list and it's growing???? HELP!!!!

Eco friendly is nice, but most brands do so much greenwashing! The ingredients, packaging, shiping- it all has impact. It's nice to see the brand being a bit more transparent and honest. Honesty in skincare industry is rare.

These discussions are so important! The balance between zero waste, low waste, eco-friendly, sustainable, and profitable--because companies won't stay around if they aren't somewhat profitable at least--are not simple. Intentional and transparent is a fantastic place to start. We can all make better choices with that as a foundation.

That labeling process of ingredient origin, & community/ labor support & sustainability is exactly what The Body Shop has been doing since I was a kid, & why I was faithful to them (before the skewed direction they took for a stretch after the creator passed). They were always cruelty free & had refill stations inside the shops… wAy back. They were my vegan heart’s delight. That green apple glycerin soap & apricot dreamy scents I so miss.

Thanks, Cassandra! You made some very important points about the profit margin on beauty products. And yes, I think you're absolutely right that people generally don't know about this.
It drives me nuts to think that people spend hundreds of dollars on things like La Mer Creme, and think they're actually getting something worth the price! Or Oribe shampoo - $49 for an 8.5 ounce bottle of Gold Lust shampoo! There is NOTHING in the product to justify the price, just a lot of fragrance! Suave makes shampoo and conditioner that works just fine for a fraction of the cost!

The problem with synthetics is their use funds big oil/chemical production that harms the environment. Sourcing wisely from plants supports sustainable farming practices. Additionally, long-term use of synthetics and fragrance in products can take a serious toll on hormones and is why so many women AND men are having problems with fertility these days.

I know someone who used to sort the recycling in my area in Canada and apparently a lot of the items which were labeled that they could be recycled were thrown in with the regular trash. People believed that they were helping by sorting out their recycling but in reality they might as well have just thrown it in with the regular garbage instead of the recycling bin which is collected once a month in our location.

Hi Cassandra, I’m in love with your channel and have learned so much from you! Also got in a lot of laughs 😂. I noticed you mentioned not supporting brands that test of animals, but haven’t gone into depth about this. I’m not vegan (but a 20+ year vegetarian) and I really want to know more about what exactly brands are doing to animals when testing their products on them. I think a video on that coming from you would be so insightful. Navigating the world of cruelty free products has been a challenge that I started taking on and am going in circles. A brand will claim they’re cruelty free, but then I find claims that they are not. I know this is a difficult conversation for the public but I also think it needs to be had for consumers like me who want more education on this. Thank you 😊

At lot of places recycle less plastic where Glass is more readily recycled. I grew up in Ontario, Canada where you can recycle so much compared to Buffalo, NY (did a project in college about recycling). Now I live in Reno, NV where so little is recycled.
Here we have much more locally made skin care. Also have multiple refill businesses so you can just refill instead of buying a new package.

It's nice to be able to reuse glass packaging, so less fuel to ship when it's less often than paper and plastic products, not to mention how plastic is toxic, whether drinking from plastic bottles, heating food in plastic containers and probably applying product to skin that comes from plastic bottles.

I've worked for a transport company for 3 years and now work in a grocery store and I can tell you everything that gets delivered will be shrinked wrapped with plastic. Otherwise, nothing would stay on the pallet. Transport companies and companies that want their products shipped don't have time to individually secure each box onto a pallet. It's just too time consuming so shrink wrapping with plastic onto a pallet is ideal and nothing beats it.

Target sells some of Native's plastic free deodorants and has some other brands as well. I use a plastic free deodorant from a brand that isn't Native and I can't remember the name of off the top of my head, but I get it at Target. I also picked up some Grove and Co plastic free laundry sheets the other day. Target is doing fairly well having plastic free options for some stuff, although skin care is still lacking in options in general. I use a Cetaphil bar soap for my face wash but haven't found much for moisturizers. My journey into shampoo and conditioner bars left me with dry limp hair, so unfortunately I went back to plastic options for those and toothpaste tablets left my teeth feeling dirty.

I really liked the cleanser when I tried it, but I will never repurchase due to the packaging. the product leaked out of the lid often, always had trouble dispensing a just small amount because the formula is less viscous (it always poured out way too much), and the lid broke very easily. You could put it in your own container, but I think there are many similar vegan cruelty free facial cleansers nowadays so I now use one of those instead. Still a huge fan of Hyram no matter what

It's funny you mention accessibility and the amount of products they carry of certain brands. Sephora is the only place that carries the inkey list and half my skincare in the inkey list. I don't usually have the time to wait for an order to ship to me and the area where I go to sephora, I literally only go over there for Sephora it's ridiculous! I don't think they're a holy grail eco friendly brand but I don't think any brand is at the moment. A brand like booni doon only has two products but I love those two products and filaree and other brand that refill their used aluminum bottles are more eco friendly. But the companies are not on the same level as each other. I just don't think plastic is the answer even if it's 100% recycled because virgin plastic will have to be used to make newer items out of that recycled plastic because the quality doesn't hold up. The formulas of eco friendly brands are not there yet in my opinion especially because I have more sensitive skin and the use of essential oils is far from eco friendly.
