- Vintage Martha's Vineyard slideshow (1960s-'70s) photographed and narrated by Rev. Carl Siktberg, minister at the Methodist Church in the
Campgrounds, Oak Bluffs, MA. Additional narration by Rev. Siktberg's wife and children. Courtesy George Fisher.
My family had a white A-frame cottage built near Katama Airpark. A local master carpenter/builder was the gentleman who helped us in building that cottage from 1958 to 1960. We flew from western NJ up to the Vineyard starting with a Cessna 140 and eventually acquiring a four-seat Navion (N91698). Summers on MVY were spent from 1961 to 1973 with many weekends and a couple of winters thereafter. The A-frame has weathered many seasons and as many storms over the years. Always loved the Island, the people of Katama and the airport that was the focus of my world for so long.
