I lived on and off for around 16 years in a Victorian manor house, that has been renovated into 5 homes. During my last 3 months living there, one afternoon around 2pm I was standing in the kitchen and I watched a young Victorian women walk through my living room, into the kitchen and straight though the wall to my neighbour house. It was all over in less than a minute, but the details of her hair and the lace on her dress were clearly visible to me.

From my research the Manor House was build around 1840 by a Lancashire cotton mill owner. However, the style of the women dress was approx 1890 - she was wearing a straw boat with dark ribbon. It was like watching a 3D movie clip play out in front of me, the detail was very clear.

My main experience with a ghost I'll never ever forget was when I was 9 , about 10 days or so before my 10th birthday. I was with my friend and we went into the house where I lived and my parents and sister were all out so we just sat playing with my toys. Then we heard one of the bedroom doors close so I went to the bottom of the stairs to see who it was and what I saw has stayed with me ever since. Coming down the stairs was a first world war soldier in full uniform. Anyway to cut a very long story short about 4/5 years ago I couldn't get it out of my mind I had to know who he was. After lots of research I found out that in 1918 his family lived in that house and he was killed in France on 24th August 1918 and when I saw him in the house was 50 years to the day he was killed. I think he was looking for his family. I tried to find out if his body had been returned home but unfortunately his remains were never found.

I'll tell you my ghost story. Late at night I came to visit my friend who recently moved in an abby. She gave me a fine room down the hall. Just before the dawn I was awaken by a smell of fresh bread, so intense that I was positive I've got a room above the bakery.
In the morning she started to prepare breakfast and I told her I'll buy fresh bread from the bakery.
    - What bakery?
We went out and there was no bakery, actually no house was near.
She took a book about history of the abby. We've found it: before abby was rebuilt, few centuries ago, the room I slept above was used as a bakery.
You might think my story is not scary, but it is real life GHOST Story.

Myself and my brother at a very young age were messing around with a piece of farm equipment.
What we were doing was most likely going to end up with one or both of us killed even though as children we didn't see this..
A Male voice spoke clearly and very firmly to both of us and repeated three times Be careful boys.
We freaked and stopped what we were doing and ran back to the house.
Our old sheep dog sensed it before we heard the voice, hair stood up and he ran off barking.

I was lying in a hospital bed waiting to meet the surgeon who was about to perform delicate spinal surgery on me. I even had the pre med in my hand but didnt want to take it before meeting the surgeon.
Suddenly, from out of nowhere, but seemingly above my head, a strong male voice said "DON'T DO IT!"
I knew I had to take heed of that voice. I put the meds down and said I wasnt going to go ahead with it.
The surgeon was awful to me, very rude, calling me " a very foolish young woman" infront of several medical students, but I stuck to my guns.
      I made a full recovery.
Just a few years later I was told that the surgery is rarely carried out nowadays, as it can lead to irreversable damage and constant pain.
I thank my angel for speaking to me!

There's one near Yorkshire, a motorcyclest gave a teenage girl a lift home across the Moor, he was close to where she lived, and suddenly realised she wasn't on the back, franticly rode up and down thinking she'd fallen of he couldn't find her, he knocked on a couple of doors where she said she was going, a woman opened the door, he gave a discription and the woman broke down in tears, it turned out it was her daughter who'd been knocked down and killed one night in the spot he picked her up from, it was near batley in Yorkshire if I recall.

A school friend of mine's Dad drove busses for a living. One night he came home from work with a story about how he'd picked a passenger up from a stop. It was late so the bus was otherwise empty. The guy got on and went upstairs. My friend's Dad went merrily on with his route but as he got closer to getting back to the station he started to think the guy had fallen asleep because he still hadn't got off. On his last stop he went upstairs looking for the guy but there was no-one there.

Love your stories. A similar experience happened to myself and girl friends on a weekend away a few years back. We were staying in an old historical miners cottage, out in the middle of nowhere, in the bush in Perth Western Australia. It was a hot summers night, and there was a long old metal bath that we decided to fill with water. We all squeezed in with a glass of wine each, for a photo. Weeks later l got a call from one of my friends. She'd had the photo developed and enlarged to frame. She was so excited, and wanted to come around and show me something that was in the photo. I couldn't believe, when looking closely at it, to discover peering through the old window above the bath, was a face of a very young child. There were no other families around, and it was at night, in the middle of nowhere. After thinking about it alot, l contacted the owners of the cottage, only to be told that apparently, a young child drowned in the billabong that was not far from there in the early 1900's. And yes, he was known to still be present around the cottage.

My late sister in law and her friend worked in an old folks home. A family member had bought this building and turned it into a nursing home for the elderly. Late afternoon, still daylight they were in a room with windows looking onto the room across from them divided by a narrow corridor. This room also had windows. In that room they could see a man lying back on a chair with his legs raised and feet on the table. As they went to challenge the man, he stood up and walked through the wall. On the other side of the wall was an out of use stairway. During the second world war this site operated as a small air field. Another story from a lad i knew. He worked in crewe theatre. Again in broad daylight he was on an upperfloor, tidying the place for a show later that night. All of a sudden a ballerina partially appeared and danced and circled the length of the upper floor then slowly evaporated.

Later that day/night the phone rang and the Livesey's youngest son phone to inform us of the passing of his mother. I said yes we know and explained what had happened. One night, I and my brothers (and if I remember correctly, also the babysitter), heard what sounded like wailing, a heartbreaking crying sort of noise in the back garden. It was pitch black outside, and we could not see anything from the bedroom window. We were too scared to go near the garden. Could it have been a very distressed cat? Maybe, but ive never heard a cat sound like that since. By the morning, we then discovered that our neighbour across the road had died in the night. In folklore, the Banshee wails for the dead, usually a family member, but perhaps they made an exception on this occasion.

The car was coming fast, when it got up on them. It passed them, a black truck, in a bad curve. Never slowed down, with in a few minutes the fog was gone. My father was Scottish and every hogmanay the whole family would get together and my parents, my brother's and I would stay at my aunt's house which was a horrible, dingy, cold end of terrace house. We all used to stay in one big room but when we got a little older my aunt said me and my mum could stay together in a different room. I have never been so scared in my life and my mum felt the same. We lay together the whole night with the light on and just hugging. The thing is we didn't see anything, we didn't hear anything and we didn't smell anything. There was just this feeling of being watched as if there were eyes everywhere and an overwhelming feeling of doom and gloom as if something dreadful was going to happen. We were terrified. About 50 years later my friends and I were passing the house and one of them said, "there's that creepy haunted house" and she told me that she knew someone who was going to buy it but didn't because of the feeling in that room. She knew nothing of my experiences. I can't explain it.

10 years ago, my husband and I drove through Scotland as far as Mull. On the way, after countless roads, through heather clad ways we drove up a hill, a very high hill and as the track levelled out on the highest point in the middle of nowhere was a lone piper. It was really misty high up on that hill and we couldn't see back to where we came from below. He was playing his pipes, and there seemed to be a scruffy old table in front of him. We couldn't see a car or any transport he could have used to get there, which in itself was strange. He was wearing full Highland dress, and as we drove slowly by, we could see how the fine drizzle or maybe it was just mist was coating his hat and the shoulders of his jacket. He took no notice at all as we went by and just kept playing the pipes. It was a surreal and uncanny experience, and to this day, I do not know if he was real or not. He looked solid, however, and the drizzley mist was all over him.

Isn't it sad that the first thing that came to that young man's mind was drink or drugs! A sign of the times perhaps.
The first thing that came to my mind was that he picked up a spirit, someone that wanted to be seen when he was alive and wasn't. Only in death was he seen and helped. You could say that that's a reflection of my life, and I'd agree. We all want to be seen.
There's a lot out there that we can only speculate on. As Neil says, we shouldn't automatically dismiss the things people say that are like this. For one thing, it's fascinating. For another, it probably did happen. And by telling the person that they made it up, you're telling them that their reality is incorrect. How could anyone say that when they weren't there themselves to witness it?

The spirit realm is 100% real. Some people are more susceptible than others.

When I was in Canada, I met up with a nice native girl and ended up going back to her home on the reverse. I was naive at the the time having just arrived, wouldnt recommend that but in the middle of the night I awoke to see 2 ghosts standing over me. One I can barley remember now other than a figure but the other one, the details are as clear today as he got my attention and I was bricking it. It was an old tribal warrior in full gear looking down at me with pure distain. Probably at the white man with his ancestor lol. I shook her awake and told her about the ghost. She looked up and casually said oh they're not ghosts, they're spirits. They're here all the time, just leave them alone and they will go away. If you told me that before I seen it, I would never have believed a word of it.

When you are driving you are prone to mentally drift off, its like a state of meditation but you still can drive using your subconscious..This drifting off is a disassociated state. Whilst in a disassociated state we are able to contact non local reality. Some names for you: Eleanor Piper, Edgar Casey and St Joseph of Cuppertino. All used disassociated states deliberately or intrinsically to transcend our normal horizons. In 2022, 3 people shared a Nobel Prize for their work proving non local reality. What this means in all probability is that space and time are illusionary and we are all interconnected. In our normal waking mode our senses dull our full range of senses which go beyond the traditional 5. Thus meditation and psychedelics for example can change our awareness. The realisation of our interconnectedness hopefully will trigger a new social / economic paradigm away from both nationalism and capitalism, for without such change our existence has but a poor prognosis.

This is a classic energy imprint 'ghost' or a guardian spirit.
When we, as beings of energy, do something routinely through our lives an energy trail is left and sometimes perceivable in certain circumstances.
I used to live in Cheshire, and the local abbey (Vale Royal Abbey) has thousands of sightings over the years of the monks that used to live there.
A guardian can often protect you personally or protect a certain place that they died and appear when the same conditions as when they passed are happening to others.

Some people attract poltergeist. They are vibrating on a different frequency when they have these experiences. He's telling you the truth. People who say they don't know if the believe in the afterlife or God or whatever. Then I remind them of the double ganger they told me about. When their mother or sister greeted them and they went into another room, to find mother, or sister, were in another roomeven on a different floor level. Ofcourse then they say oh yes good point. The person remembers that and realises they have attempted to separate their experience from what usually is their experience of every day life.
It really isn't about whether ghosts exist but which ghost is what type and what kind of haunting is it. There is another historian who dresses a a puritan from Oliver Cromwell's era. He would tell us about faries being responsible for eome hauntings. Just because we put so called science in place of spiritual understanding it doesn't totally rid us of the spirit experiences. Until very recently science and spirituality were inseparable. But just because we make a point of separating them it doesn't mean they don't start with combination.

Anyway to cut a long story short a group of us decided that we didn't mind staying in the room as long as we were not on our own in the middle of the night i woke up to a sence of something in the room with us everyone else was asleep. I felt very afraid like an evil presence was in the room and a sense that something evil had happened in that room a while before we had stayed there. The next morning i told the others of my experience and they said that that would have been George and that George had been murdered by his wife who had caught him in bed with another female 😳 as you can imagine 😂 i refused to go back into the room and stayed somewhere else but I never forgot about that incident.

It seems as if somehow information is leaking through time, mostly forward but sometimes backwards.
Often it isn't completely coherent, and appears messy choppy or disjointed.
There is also often a high strangeness associated with these events, such as outrageous coincidences, doubling-up or duplication of names or places, and quite often environmental factors such as notable weather events, geological formations, bodies of water and forests etc,
Another aspect is the lone-observer factor. It is oddly common that these phenomena seemingly defy correlation or just simply exist only as stand-alone events, causally untethered by nature.

It startled me as the story of ghost pilots from Eastern Airlines had become a source of fascination to me. With trepidation, I entered the room. What was I expecting? Red lights is the answer. On the Internet the eyes of the pilots had been doctored in a photo giving them the appearance of ghosts. These eyes had appeared to me just days before an old friend had passed. My eyes swept around the room. Nothing. I breathed a sigh of relief. I laid down on the bed. Looking up at the ceiling I saw the smoke alarm. Two red lights blinking. I knew then my mother would have some trouble as that very day a fireman was visiting her home to install new smoke alarms. On my return home, my mother complained of feeling unwell. She very nearly died of UTI. True story.
