    Word of the day: Apocalypse - Derived from the latin root words "Apo" meaning un, and "Koluptein" meaning cover, Apocalypse was originally meant to mean not the end of the world or the end of society, but rather the end of deception; The revealing of truth, and uncovering of all that was previously unknown. Thus apocalypse and revelation are two words borne of the same ilk.
    Health Cookie #13: Substance use is a tricky one to talk about. Even though you could, theoretically, separate alcohol and cigarettes from weed and classify marijuana as the "healthier" substance to use, it's still possible for you to abuse it, hell, you're even likely to abuse it (Health Cookies 14 and 15 are written on the topics of alcohol and tobacco, respectively). It's extraordinarily addictive for thought of the euphoria and focus it provides you with. While not as biologically destructive as the former two substances, marijuana is extraordinarily disruptive psychologically speaking, just as Caffeine can be. One cup of coffee is a tremendous boon to your productivity and can really boost your day, just like one puff of a joint can help you to focus on a creative project and stimulate new ideas within you. But who's out here drinking only one cup of coffee, or taking only one puff of a joint per day? Both substances tend to cascade their own usage, and drive your brain toward an increased consumption. Your brain is like that, the neurotransmitter and hormone called dopamine (Health Cookies 17 and 18 can provide you with more insight into how dopamine works) might have helped spur our evolution, but it can also be weaponized against you, to induce your personal devolution. This is the real risk associated with addiction: The problem isn't the substance itself, rather it's how your brain gradually rewires itself and demands ever-increasing quantities of that substance.
    This is the best modus operandi I've found throughout my years, regarding substance use: Substance use only becomes substance abuse when you either don't have any plans to stop using it, or when you can't place limitations upon your usage of it. My wife and I used to buy an ounce of weed twice a year and partake in a couple months of shameless indulgence, and I'd even smoke cigarettes during that time. But I know that I can't live like that without beginning to spiral eventually, so we don't do that anymore. I always do intermittent fasting, take cold showers and have some Carnivore diet days, but I would also do those things even during the time periods when I was allowed to have weed and cigarettes; I promoted the wellness of my body and mind, even when - or rather, especially when I'd engage in substance abuse habits that were counterproductive toward my wellness. If you've drank alcohol every day for the past six months, or smoked a cigarette (or many cigarettes) every single day, or smoked weed every day, etc, then you may need to consider that it's no longer just a casual hobby or habit, but rather a huge problem that is gradually creeping around the corners of your psychological constitution, slowly sabotaging and eroding your capacity for introspective growth and discipline, to ever-increasing extents each day.
    Trust me, I know how hard it is to quit substances and get clean after years of being dirty. I'm health conscious now because I used to be apathetic about it, smoked weed for years on end, abused alcohol in high school to a significant degree, etc. Learning to quit substances is no different than learning to hop into a cold shower every day: When faced with the question of "Do I feel comfortable enough to do this?", you just say "Fuck it, I don't need to feel well enough to do it. I'm going to do it anyway, and suffer through it with dignity, because that's what discipline is." Irony is, after quitting substances you gradually begin feeling significantly better afterwards, because those substances turned out to be the very thing that was holding you down and limiting your mental framework. Just like stepping into a cold shower: Sure, you don't feel like doing it. But you'll be damn glad you've done it, after it's done.

    Gotta say that I like this series. I play almost all wasteland, little bit of desert for the shale. This series is my style. Current map is a 15k. Found a crucible on day 5 in a working stiff truck, and the rock mine (just for cement) near home base turned into a super iron/lead/coal mine. Luck cometh and luck goeth. Keep up the fight and good luck!

      @@jokerspoision1645 My advice is, edit out travel as much as you can. If you say something important while traveling, then definitely include it for a brief clip, but in general, people hate watching someone walk or run to a destination! Also, don't be afraid to talk as much as possible. People want to be guided through an adventure with you, they want you to give them a story, so always keep talking, keep the adventure moving, and create a story while you play 😃Then, when you edit the footage, find the parts that will make the best story and keep them in, while removing the rest. So keep fights with zombies, keep sentences you spoke where you talked about what you might do, what just happened, loot you found, places you might visit later, quests you might do, etc.
      Also, go to www.free-stock-music.com as well, because they have TONS of free music that you can download and use, and all you have to do is give credit to the artist in the description of your video. You can even monetize the video, as long as you just credit the artist who made the music in the description. I use music from here all the time, and it makes my videos seem less boring! A lot of music and talking go a very long way toward making a video become a good story, so start with that my friend 🤘 God bless, I hope you keep at it and don't give up. Actors pretend to be excited, pretend to be scared, pretend to be brave, they pretend, but to the people who watch the movie, it feels real. So just pretend! Be excited, be scared, be cautious, be hopeful, and talk about all of it, and that's gonna help you make a good story for your viewers 💪

    I'm totally digging what you're doing! If I had 1 less than positive things to say is that I wish I could see. I get that it's the 7 days atmosphere and your play style but I watch you on my big TV and the screen is almost always uncomfortably dark. I can't imagine how hard it must be for people who are watching on a phone! In your next series, if you get a light, I'll give you employee of the week and I'll beat up Rekt the next time he says something mean to you! Oh! Can't talk right now! Your blood moon episode just started! Have a good day!

    • @DisciplineBeforeDishonor
      @DisciplineBeforeDishonor  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm gonna have to always vito complaints about the darkness, only because I feel like it adds so much to the challenge of the game! I can't give myself a helmet light, or increase the brightness, it just feels dirty, and the integrity of my challenge means more to me (regrettably) than the placation of my audience. But what I will do is try very hard to always place a torch on a wall, have a torch out, or always try to streamline the editing in parts where I'm swinging my knife into complete darkness. I can also guarantee you: If it's dark for you, then it's dark for me. It adds to the fear, the tension, the challenge, and there are times where I literally almost die because I have to navigate through the darkness. I just can't have it any other way

      I'll try to tweak that some more, thank you very much for the help! I'll bear that in mind moving forward, and try to balance the audio of my voice better. My voice is super deep, so I tend to have spikes in volume whenever I pronounce the letters B, H, and T. Truth be told, I spend most of my editing time trying to balance the sound of my voice LOL, but I'll consider either bumping up my entire voice track a tad, or bumping down the game volume a tad, either or!

      In fact, I'm editing episode 3 right now, and what I'm gonna do is reduce the game's audio track down by 3 decibels. I want you to watch episode 3 later, when it finally comes out, and let me know how the audio balance was, okay? I need to know!
