      You guys need to catch a crappie I wanna study them. Second I would love to see how they react to shrimp I always used shrimp for cat fishing but never for bass fishing. I would assume they may have the same reaction to them as crawfish if they are around the same size! I also wanted to note maybe try a piece of hotdog. I've caught some huge pass off of hotdogs before. Chicken livers too.

    I think what I have learned from my pet bass and yours is that on average the bait does not matter, but on things they may not be interested at first all it takes is one little different movement and they completely destroy it. And if you don’t thing there are such thing as reaction strikes just get a pet bass, you will quickly learn the slightest thing can trigger a fish to bite.

    More years ago than I would care to admit, I raised red belly pirahna. They were cool, pretty for what they were. Then I wanted something different. I caught a very small bluegill. Even though the laws of my state said you couldn't raise game fish, fuggem, I did. That tiny little bluegill matured into as beautiful of a fish as I have ever seen. When it was young, I pushed the color flake food. As it got older, I fed the feeder fish exclusively on the color enhancing flakes.
    Yes, it spent it's days in my tank, but it was never hunted or tormented. It grew up fat and happy. Beautiful fish. Wouldn't mind having a couple more...
    I think it's all about how you treat them. Yes, they are in captivity, but so long as their needs are met, and they have space.to swim and food.....life may actually be easier for them....

  • @howabouthetruth2157

    As always, GREAT video. My own experiences with Bluegill over the years is worth mentioning here: In many of our Florida lakes, it is very common for bluegill to swim right up to people standing still in the water, and begin biting humans repeatedly on their bare legs ( wearing shorts or swim trunks ). It is usually painless & totally harmless, but scares the crap out of "first timers" who experience it. It happens just as much to the ladies ( no hair on their legs ) as men, so we cannot conclude that the "bluegill are only attracted to leg hair"....lol. Don't know why they bite people's legs, they just do........................Pertaining to "color preference for bass".......I believe IN THE WILD, there are too many variables vs an aquarium. Here on the Stick Marsh/Farm 13, Blue Cypress lake, Lake Washington/St Johns river, and Kissimmee Chain of lakes.......GOLD COLORED JERKBAITS, CRANKBAITS, & TOPWATERS ARE AMONG THE TOP PRODUCERS in our STAINED WATERS. Especially "gold sides, black back, with orange belly". This color combination seems to attract bigger bass in addition to smaller bass in central Florida lakes & rivers. However, in our smaller crystal-clear spring-fed lakes & rivers, the lighter, more natural colors like silver/white belly seems to work better. Just sayin'.

    It's a fact that orange is one of the colors bluegill like. Minnows and worms work good for largemouth. I never thought of bluegill being that aggressive. You learn something everyday. Speaking of my other comment, another 300 gallon like this one would be good if you decided to get smallmouth bass and rock bass. Neat videos. Keep it up.

    I believe Bonnie prefers minnows over goldfish because like many other animals in nature, including poison dart frogs, bright colors usually indicate the fact the prey is venomous or contains toxins. Just a hunch of why Bonnie won't crush those goldfish. Nice content!

    • @droutdoors4560
      @droutdoors4560 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Canadian fishing giants small mouth are pretty hard to keep, theyre different from largemouth in the sense that from what I've saw they have completely different patterns depending on bodies of water instead of the time of season. I live in NE Tennessee so smallies are pretty much in every body of water around me and I can literally slay them all spring through summer long in the river next to my house, but come late fall and winter the fishing there just dies completely. But I can still go to the lakes creeks and catch them fairly easy during winter when I can't catch them during hot Months nearly as well as winter. Kinda weird and confusing but it's just what I've observed.

    • @droutdoors4560
      @droutdoors4560 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plus I tried to keep a little like inch and a half small mouth in a 15 gallon tank, that I regularly did weekly water changes and had a high quality filter that got changed weekly, and he only lasted about 5 months before he died, but I've watched larger large mouth and blue Gill survive in it for a year which is when I always release them back to the wild in fear of their growth stunting and them dying.

    Note to mention not sure if it implies to bluegills and basses. But with snakes goldfish can be very toxic or toxins can build up in animals that eat too many of them resulting in digestive issues. Maybe why thelse bass did not like them.

    Please do a shad and I really want to see a comparison of that hatchery crappie and a wild crappie best of both worlds maybe two separate episodes

    You should give them some smaller ones like chubs or grasshoppers are good to feed em

    You should have kept one or two of the goldfish and put them in the 55 gallon tank. Great ideas for experiments though!!!
