when people dismiss animated shows as simply for children they are insulting them as not being able to emotionally mature stuff. Shows like this, the avatar series, adventure time, steven universe is truly for kids in that anyone can watch it.
Laughingtoyourself it is a kids show. But adults happen to watch it. I do however agree that people should not dismiss it as being silly just cuz it is a kids show. (Voltron is made for kids to buy toys. Also the age rating is for kids).
Laughingtoyourself the problem is that people are used to make loads of shows like this. Then helicopter parents came along and did not like their kids viewing it and so a lot of kids shows nowerdays are considered stupid. Before the 90s they used to have loads of fucked up shit in kids shows and kids were fine.

Ace Red’s Fan edits , Vlogs, and Reviews So if you have a problem with that side of the fandom, go to a video that is saying it's a teen show for all the supposed shipping. Trust me, I hate that side too, because it's pretty false, but this video is about all of the traumatic things the characters go through and how that's supposed to be for kids. There's not a single inappropriate joke in this video, nor the comment. I felt this comment was commenting on the content of the video, not the content of the ship fandom. I say that it's a teen show in the same way Avatar: The Last Airbender or Gravity Falls was a teen show. There's some dark, gruesome things that go on in these shows. People die in them. When you compare that to "kid shows" like Dora or, idk, The Loud House or something, it's pretty mature. It has extreme serious and humorous moments, but at the same time, it's still watchable and enjoyable for kids. It's teen for the serious and kid for the humorous, if that makes sense.
Ugh, I let that get a little long. My point is, go find some other comment to attack because this one literally did nothing wrong. You have zero proof that they were saying this because of ships or dirty jokes.

It is its lookalike, but its plot and development is 200 times better than what Power Rangers was or ever will be. They did good with the movie, but that's all they ever did good on. It's great for 9 year olds, but very few teenagers and adults will watch that show and praise it to high heaven. Their character development and scripting just.. makes me cringe... It's very obviously made for people who only like action scenes and explosions and don't give a care about what a plot is.

To me kids shows don’t have a negative stigma to it, I watch kids shows all the time, they say kid show because most of the time it’s a show aimed at kids, that’s their main target audience. I’m just saying from the children I know and babysit this kind of stuff would give them nightmares. And yeah they were a lot of stuff not like this Tv in the 90s doesn’t necessarily mean that some kids didn’t get nightmares from it just because it was on tv back then.

In my opinion Voltron IS a kids show. It reminds me of the great action / dramatic cartoons from 10 - 15 years ago like Kim Possible, Danny Phantom, Avatar The Last Airbender and the ORIGINAL Teen Titans. All of those shows were also KIDS shows.

If you look at the subtitles there's a part that says "blade slicing through flesh" at the squelching sound made when a blade of marmorra killed a galra off screen. And teoshi died from rib fractures. A third of a coalition squad died after getting shot down ON SCREEN. SHIRO SAID THE WORD FUCK IN TRAINING. This is a kid's show in the way avatar is a kid's show if you know what I mean.

Even as a teenager, Lotor dislocating his arms on screen and Keith's near suicide for the mission disturbed thE HELL outta me.
I legitimately almost broke down in tears with Pidge’s scream/cry at Matt’s “grave” (I don’t normally cry with shows but imagining that pain of losing a sibling considering I almost did 🤫🥺😭😭)

Dude seeing Pidge cry thinking her brother was dead killed me again. Even tho i know he is alive I still feel the depression Pidge felt!! :'( also that Keith part....NOOOOOOO WHY MUST U REMIND US OF THAT!!! It makes me think he thought his life is meaninglessness so he was going to kill his sad depressed self for others and the universe can be saved. Honestly, as a kid I would’ve hated Voltron. It wouldn’t have kept my attention or interested me. I needed bright colors and songs and cute characters.
But now I’m 17 and Voltron is my entire life. It’s what I live and breathe. Voltron is my life source and it will be the death of me.
