I always think that Gavin Newsom wants to be a model than a governor. He is more like a pretty boy than an effective politician.

I have heard several people on the streets say that they were providing a bus ticket from another state to SF. Sure probably a minority but I would love to know how many of them have been in the city for more than 5 years. Just curious.
He should have gotten his car broken into to get the full experience.
Wasn’t this bad 20 years ago. I remember visiting the tenderloin on vacation visiting, coit tower, haight/ash bury. Tenderloin had homeless people and the bushman was there but the homeless I remember had a sign saying need money for beer. Fentanyl and social programs that other states don’t have changed all this quick. It’s like leaving food (programs) out and wondering why mice keep (people) showing up.
Getting food in the Bay Area recently. I was interrupted by a homeless person asking the restaurant for a piece of tinfoil the cashier gave it to them no question asked and the guy wandered off grunting like an alien zombie.
It was beautiful 30 years ago. Skinheads and bikers everywhere.
Fentanyl and Tranq (horse tranquilizer) are destroying our society. Many will die from overdose or drugs related violence.
Why spend any money for addicts. 1 Billion dollars? You can jail 50k addicts for a year with a budget of 20k per addict. That would be better than giving them some snacks and burping them lol.

We have a mental crisis in this county , it would cheaper to hospital these people then dump $ at the problem ! Build new hospitals for mental and addition care ! Yes it would cheaper !
