  • This week I'll be repairing my Skiff's dagger board and rudder.
I will fill the missing chunk with epoxy mixed with micro fibers and micro sphere's.
I will then apply two layers of glass fiber cloth on the bottom edges of the foils to make them more resistant against grounding and beaching.

Hey Teo, I'm sure you're not short of ideas, but I wonder if you could do a video about how you decided to build your GIS? What made you want to change from the Laser? What different experience, handling or capability were you looking for? What other options did you consider? Was the building process attractive at the start or just a means to an end? What skills did you already have and which did you have to learn? Did you try sailing another GIS before you set out to build yours? Did that experience make a difference to your decision? We can all see you are very happy with Forager, but you seem to be a guy who makes the most of everything. Do you know of any other boats that might suit your plans as well? Is there any way in which the GIS is not quite as good as you hoped?

      Hi Brendan, excellent idea!
Many ppl have asked me "why?" before via e-mail, messenger, forums etc... I will put something together and make a video as soon as I have some time.
It might take a few as I'm really busy with Forager and editing atm. But stay tuned!
And you are right...I am most definitely a "cup half full" kind of guy!! Can't see no point on the other option....😉

Nice Teo, thanks for the weave at 45 deg for the corners will remember that.

Thanks Tusk! I learnt that from Michael Storer's GIS building manual. 😉

Not hard to do, just takes time..as everything epoxy related...😉

Can you give me any insight about the advantages of the GIS rudder vs. a kick up rudder? It seems to me a kick up rudder would sustain less damage when running aground.

The cassette ruder like in the GIS can be lifted (like the daggerboard) to sail shallow waters and the boat keeps the same helm balance. that is not the case with a kickup rudder. Also the building process is way more simple.

Obrigado!!

@@TheBoatRambler Viva companheiro! Utilizas a gramagem 200 da fibra?, parece-me assim.

Obrigado Teo!

      Boas António!
Compro todas as micro esferas e micro fibras no Santos e Elvas no casal do Marco.
