  • Hello friends,
Received this lens in very bad condition (actually I got it in a bag). Among many problems, the A-M ring wasn't turning right and the autofocus wasn't working. I knew the problem could come from the aligment of the focusing gear as the construction of this lens is identical as the 28mm f/1.4D, wasn't wrong.

@@bartoszkrol8846 I'm not surprised, the mounting of this lens seems easy but it is not. Great to hear you managed :)

We use the Nikon 60mm 2.8 often. Very sharp. For macro you will need to use a tripod as the focusing can get out of focus easily. We use the digital zoom focusing feature to nail the focusing area. You can also get a similar macro image with a 50mm lens combined with a +1 close-up filter. Comparing images from both setups yields almost identical images.

A fantastic lens indeed. I made a video about the different macro options, no surprise, the dedicated macro lens came on top. Cheers.

I absolutely cannot get the aperture ring back together properly after following your instructions very closely for a few hours. I think whatever is not engaging is possibly blocked from your camera view. You do try to explain briefly how something is supposed to catch but I can't see what. Also - the A M ring on this lens does not fit the 28mm 1.4D They are of different design.

Hi, yes, the aperture setting is the tricky part of this lens. There is a small pivot part that needs to be set properly (very small black trianglelike part pivoting around the aperture). Once you get that part, it's done. Thanks for the info about the AM ring, I was hoping it was the same but you confirmed otherwise. Thanks for following th channel and cheers !

@@diyextravaganza The pivot part I understand - I think the real trick that I just discovered is that you need to be holding the aperture wide open as you attach the bayonet. I don't believe you mention this in your otherwise good instructions. I just got my lens reassembled and working properly. Thanks.

@@Some-guy-you-dont-know Maybe I forgot, important thing is your lens is working again as expected. Cheers.

Hello, what do you mean? You cannot enable the manual focusing on this lens? Normally you should put the ring in M unless the ring is broken please explain your case. Best
