Thanks so much for posting these videos that I didn't even know existed. I was there. It was a fantastic day, and much much much better than Real Live suggests.
I was always impressed by the rapid flow of his words and there may be even less than other recordings, 1986 but at least it gives me the good mood to start the day .... a big thank you Woolhy and good Sunday ♥♥♥
Hi S , I felt that there was always something exciting about the 84 performances, a new lease of life, after the 1979-81 personal, soul baring performances . All good. 🙏
Darkness at the break of noon Shadows even the silver spoon The handmade blade, the child's balloon Eclipses both the sun and moon To understand you know too soon There is no sense in trying Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn Suicide remarks are torn From the fool's gold mouthpiece The hollow horn plays wasted words Proves to warn that he not busy being born Is busy dying Temptation's page flies out the door You follow, find yourself at war Watch waterfalls of pity roar You feel to moan but unlike before You discover that you'd just be One more person crying So don't fear if you hear A foreign sound to your ear It's alright, Ma, I'm only sighing As some warn victory, some downfall Private reasons great or small Can be seen in the eyes of those that call To make all that should be killed to crawl While others say don't hate nothing at all Except hatred Disillusioned words like bullets bark As human gods aim for their mark Made everything from toy guns that spark To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark It's easy to see without looking too far That not much is really sacred While preachers preach of evil fates Teachers teach that knowledge waits Can lead to hundred-dollar plates Goodness hides behind its gates But even the president of the United States Sometimes must have to stand naked An' though the rules of the road have been lodged It's only people's games that you got to dodge And it's alright, Ma, I can make it Advertising signs that con you Into thinking you're the one That can do what's never been done That can win what's never been won Meantime life outside goes on All around you You lose yourself, you reappear You suddenly find you got nothing to fear Alone you stand with nobody near When a trembling distant voice, unclear Startles your sleeping ears to hear That somebody thinks they really found you A question in your nerves is lit Yet you know there is no answer fit to satisfy Insure you not to quit To keep it in your mind and not fergit That it is not he or she or them or it That you belong to Although the masters make the rules For the wise men and the fools I got nothing, Ma, to live up to For them that must obey authority That they do not respect in any degree Who despise their jobs, their destinies Speak jealously of them that are free Do what they do just to be nothing more than something they invest in While some on principles baptized To strict party platform ties Social clubs in drag disguise Outsiders they can freely criticize Tell nothing except who to idolize And then say God bless him While one who sings with his tongue on fire Gargles in the rat race choir Bent out of shape from society's pliers Cares not to come up any higher But rather get you down in the hole that he's in But I mean no harm nor put fault On anyone that lives in a vault But it's alright, Ma, if I can't please him Old lady judges watch people in pairs Limited in sex, they dare To push fake morals, insult and stare While money doesn't talk, it swears Obscenity, who really cares Propaganda, all is phony While them that defend what they cannot see With a killer's pride, security It blows the minds most bitterly For them that think death's honesty Won't fall upon them naturally Life sometimes must get lonely My eyes collide head-on with stuffed graveyards False gods, I scuff At pettiness which plays so rough Walk upside-down inside handcuffs Kick my legs to crash it off Say okay, I have had enough What else can you show me And if my thought-dreams could be seen They'd probably put my head in a guillotine But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only. by Bob Dylan
KULP11 There you go! I don’t hesitate to say typical Bob. I do believe though that rhythm has a huge connection to memory! I know it has been proven that music does but I think that it is the rhythm more than anything and Bob has incredible rhythm as we witness in his use of counterpoint on the guitar, his phrasing and the harmonica too! I remember long poems in and lyrics in a rhythmic way and that is how I noticed it. Certain lilts are very good to memorize in. That’s just how I see it anyway it’s not scientific more intuitive. :)
Dylan could sing the 15 verses and 5 refrains of this song without missing a single word, all with different lyrics (here he skips 3 verses and 1 refrain of the original) . Lennon couldn't remember the second verse of Help!. There. I said it.
@@twiggyb01 Well done, you!! I was also there that day--what a fantastic atmosphere and concert (doesn't translate on the official release). I was on the pitch near the stage--sweltering heat all day and a very long trek through the throngs to the toilets! But what a day!
@@streetlegalone i saw him for the first time in june at cologne germany (taped that too on a sony walkman proffessional) . it was so good i swapped my roger waters and eric clapton ticket for the wembley bob show. never regretted it. i can never understand why the critics slammed this tour. also i dont know if you realised, but the wembley show was by far, the longest of the tour with 5 encores
If I told you I’d have to kill you. And I couldn’t do that. Just know that parallel universes exist and who knows where Bob is from? I only know he’s younger than he was yesterday. He’s a reporter from the universe.
My first Bob concert!
You are a God, Man You are a soul in a human
You are a flow on a tongue You are words in a mind
You are a flow on strings of mistic complex
It's alright 'ma that's only rhythmic riverines Of poetry and flow of fragrance in the enchanting windy plains and running riveres
Glowing icy peaks & Brewing Clouds
Over the high lands Looking for the flowing rivers and gushing waters
It's alright 'ma that's only rhythmic riverines Of poetry and
Flow of fragrance into the past and present alike waiting for the new spring to visit and feel the flavour of the present
Ma I am only running my mind to reach the words of Dylan
Resonating the sounds of ever mystic Bob
Mesmerising stoic eyes Glancing into mistic might
Day or night Moon or sun Mysteries or Marvels Moving tone of Dylan in poetry
As mystical as Milton's Paradise always regained but never lost
It's alright 'ma that's only rhythmic riverines Of poetry and flow of fragrance into the winds of valleys and heights of mountains from the riverines to skies
Ma, tell Tambourine man to sing Volcanic voices Waves like rhythms opening into tunnel of Musical Vocal caves

👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️👍🎉love this version! 🥂
Dylan at the peak of his powers. Intense
Bob and his six string.. This is the only way this song should be played
Genius
Darkness at the break of noon
Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child's balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon
To understand you know too soon
There is no sense in trying
Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn
Suicide remarks are torn
From the fool's gold mouthpiece
The hollow horn plays wasted words
Proves to warn that he not busy being born
Is busy dying
Temptation's page flies out the door
You follow, find yourself at war
Watch waterfalls of pity roar
You feel to moan but unlike before
You discover that you'd just be
One more person crying
So don't fear if you hear
A foreign sound to your ear
It's alright, Ma, I'm only sighing
As some warn victory, some downfall
Private reasons great or small
Can be seen in the eyes of those that call
To make all that should be killed to crawl
While others say don't hate nothing at all
Except hatred
Disillusioned words like bullets bark
As human gods aim for their mark
Made everything from toy guns that spark
To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark
It's easy to see without looking too far
That not much is really sacred
While preachers preach of evil fates
Teachers teach that knowledge waits
Can lead to hundred-dollar plates
Goodness hides behind its gates
But even the president of the United States
Sometimes must have to stand naked
An' though the rules of the road have been lodged
It's only people's games that you got to dodge
And it's alright, Ma, I can make it
Advertising signs that con you
Into thinking you're the one
That can do what's never been done
That can win what's never been won
Meantime life outside goes on
All around you
You lose yourself, you reappear
You suddenly find you got nothing to fear
Alone you stand with nobody near
When a trembling distant voice, unclear
Startles your sleeping ears to hear
That somebody thinks they really found you
A question in your nerves is lit
Yet you know there is no answer fit to satisfy
Insure you not to quit
To keep it in your mind and not fergit
That it is not he or she or them or it
That you belong to
Although the masters make the rules
For the wise men and the fools
I got nothing, Ma, to live up to
For them that must obey authority
That they do not respect in any degree
Who despise their jobs, their destinies
Speak jealously of them that are free
Do what they do just to be nothing more than something they invest in
While some on principles baptized
To strict party platform ties
Social clubs in drag disguise
Outsiders they can freely criticize
Tell nothing except who to idolize
And then say God bless him
While one who sings with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
Bent out of shape from society's pliers
Cares not to come up any higher
But rather get you down in the hole that he's in
But I mean no harm nor put fault
On anyone that lives in a vault
But it's alright, Ma, if I can't please him
Old lady judges watch people in pairs
Limited in sex, they dare
To push fake morals, insult and stare
While money doesn't talk, it swears
Obscenity, who really cares
Propaganda, all is phony
While them that defend what they cannot see
With a killer's pride, security
It blows the minds most bitterly
For them that think death's honesty
Won't fall upon them naturally
Life sometimes must get lonely
My eyes collide head-on with stuffed graveyards
False gods, I scuff
At pettiness which plays so rough
Walk upside-down inside handcuffs
Kick my legs to crash it off
Say okay, I have had enough
What else can you show me
And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They'd probably put my head in a guillotine
But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only. by Bob Dylan
A reporter once asked Bob ' How do you remember all those words and phrases' ? He quickly answered,, 'Oh, I only remember the important ones ' ,
