It's very unsatisfying and leaves you with no particular direction to go in, but the best answer essentially just boils down to "it depends" But if I am to give something more specific, something that I think people should be more willing to open their minds to is reducing regulation. Obviously there are laws in place to stop people from doing irresponsible and harmfull stuff, but a lot of laws don't actually help anyone and instead just make it more expensive for people to do stuff. Then when things are more expensive, companies have to choose between several different options that nobody is happy with in order to make sure they don't go out of business and leave all their employees jobless. So living is more expensive because you need to pay more for stuff you need, jobs are harder to get because it's not in many companies budgets to hire more people and they raise their standards for the people they do hire because less people involved in the process = more chance for one person screwing up to mess up a larger chunk of opperations. The only people that really benefit from this are owners of particularly large companies that can afford to take the losses (or even might benefit from it because more of their competition is going out of business) and politicians who use the increasingly bad economic state to get more votes by promising that they will fix it with more regulations, most of which won't actually fix and and will probably just make everything more expensive again.
