That’s awesome 😎 we just finished up editing a video of our YZ65 and YZ85 riding video. It will come out next Saturday. I can’t say enough about the yz85 it’s fast 💨 and runs awesome 😎
One of the reasons 2-strokes rev up real high when cold starting is because the bike is running lean an there isn't much fuel in the carb. You can lean the bike over a little for a second to fill the carb up with gas. Cranks easier and doesn't rev up super high.
Hey that high idle thats a yz thing when it sits for a long period but mostly when its cold outside. You can try doing a couple very slow kicks so bike wont start with choke up to get a bit more fuel in there then give it some good kicks. This helped mine sometimes. But it never happened once it was like 60 degrees out.

These YZ 2 strokes don't like the cold temps. My 250 revs like that and scares me to death. I have a 48 pilot and 175 main, other than that it is as it left the factory jetting-wise. I keep pushing the kill switch until it settles down to keep it from screaming. I don't like that feature of my YZ. While temps were above 70 it never did that, so this spring/summer I bet it and your bike as well will go back to behaving when cold started.

hey again I have the same bike a 2024 yz 125 when I put it on choke it also revs high but the idle should come down when the choke is on if it dosent then you have carb issues lol

To stop the rust on the pipe you can cover it in wd40 or something like that and also you can get a wire wheel and get it all of that way spraying wd40 as a cleaner and that works good
I’ve been working on this bike ever since it was new. The new pipe and JD jetting kit has really made a huge difference but I still feel like it could be better 😃👍🏻

203 lb'er talking here, so take that into account :-) but what have you done to the suspension on your YZ125? I'd be afraid of bottoming out my YZ250 and for sure my YZ85 if I were to try what you did. That or getting kicked off when the forks/shock rebounded under my weight. Kudos to you though for being brave and going for it. Suspension is a forbidden subject with me, and I don't have a clue how to set up my 2.8 hour brand new YZ250 or 1.6 hour YZ85, so I leave it as is. Engine work, no problem, but messing with suspension is a complete unknown to me. I'll never use my bikes to their fullest though due to being a NOVICE novice!
Hi I had a 2019 yz250 and I'm 6'2 230lbs and it used to beat me up on the trails. I used to work for a company that did anodizing for devol suspension and I asked the guy should I bring my bike to him? He said dont waste your time if your not jumping 60ft in the air. He told me to check my clickers underneath the forks and up to. He said 95% of the time there not adjusted the same throwing the suspension off. I'll be darn the all 4 were not the same. As soon as I did that it made a huge difference.

@ it’s just surface rust. You have to oil the pipe after you wash it cuz it’s raw steel. I have the same pipe on my 125 and it turns black and blue after 1 ride
I think I was just describing not hitting that planter and going into the hospital. I have crashed on a dirtbike and been in the hospital for a couple days and that’s no fun but that was a long time ago 😬🤘🏻😎

I just installed a JD Jett kit in my 24 yz125 and it’s been perfect. If yours ain’t running right still double check which setting you used for the kit. They have for above 45 degrees and below 45 degrees, I only mention this because you said it was 30 degrees in the video.
