ah. whoever's interested, there's a pretty fine looking anime up here. it's only one episode in 2 parts, as they didn't yet continue it, but it's still worth watching i think. the first part goes by the title "Touhou Anime Project - Episode 1 - Part 1 [HD]". it's on TheFlameFox's channel in pretty neat quality to watch. i only wish they'd continue it.. :P

There is a touhou game called Impossible Spell Card where the entire gimmick is you fight against "impossible" patterns and you must use items to "cheat" and beat them. There is an achievement for beating all patterns without "cheating", but some of the patterns are THAT absurd and the most straightforward method to beat them without using an item is to abuse how the game is programmed.
@Trueblade808 Actually, Queen Larsa really is the hardest boss. In touhou, it requires tactics and timing to dodge the patterns. In Mushihime-sama's final boss, they probably don't expect you to survive, even if you're Asian.

@SuwakoX Capturing "Fox-Tanuki laser" only counts as one capture towards this count. 60 unique cards means 60 different spellcards, not "cards that are special or certain spells that count towards it".
From Touhou wiki: To unlock the Phantasm difficulty of Extra stage for a specific character and type, you must beat the Extra stage with that same character and type. You must also "capture" (beat without bombing or dying) 60 unique Spell Cards, all characters combined.
Funny thing with Necrofantasia. Whenever I hear it, I hear the sound for "Cherry Border" activation in it. I thought it was rather symbolic or something but maybe that was just me.

5:40 reminds me of a certain boss from Gradius Gaiden called Laser Tetran, but people nicknamed it Nazi Core, Swastika Core, etc. because it's attack involves shooting four lasers that happen to make it look like a swastika. sort of like Yukari's attack here.
Ran is Yukari's Shikigami, which is like a minion. Yukari named Ran which is why they both have the surname Yakumo. They aren't even the same youkai species. Ran is a Kitsune and Yukari is a Gap Hag-*Gapped*
Because the Swastika was invented by Yukari, in the Zen Temple. That's why the Swastika is used as a symbol of temples on present Japanese maps. (I'm Japanese, sorry about something wrong English)

@raak1010 I agree, Touhou games usually have more unique aesthetics and symbolism in the danmaku, which helps contribute to its overall enjoyment value. Also, technically speaking, even Touhou's pathetic 640x480 fullscreen resolution beats the 224x448 resolution of some CAVE games. Touhou could certainly use some improvement in graphics quality and depth, though. CAVE games often have more detailed backgrounds and complex game sprites that can show many states of movement instead of just three.

@raak1010 Just need to try really hard and when you beat Yuyuko there's a .01% chance she'll drop a Skip-Ran-and-Move-On-To-Yukari Card. You must then take it to CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN, who will rip it up and fight you with Youmu's spells. Finally, if you win, you get to skip Extra and move onto Phantasm :D

there are two things i've been wondering regarding touhou: first: what is the god of the Hakurei shrine? and secondly: is it only coincidence that Ran and Yukari both have the last name Yakumo? or is there some back story to it that i'm missing?
Also probably because people are more anal about homing making a boss easier, though it's honestly still all about the dodging, that's the huge skill in it.

I think the purple kunais are just not aimed, and shoot in the same way every time. It's just that yukari moves around a lot.
