I agree, he wasn't fair with her, almost always it was for her own well, all the time she was accusing Red for all problems she had but in fact it should be in reverse, she IS the ORIGIN of all his problems and if he is as bad as Liz says - it's her fault! Red sacrificed his life and his future for Katarina and her daughter. He did SO MUCH for her, so much more than Katarina Rostova, HE IS the ONLY family she has...her mother...well, does she love Liz? YES but still she didn't do ANYTHING for her daughter during all these years. Liz is probably the only thing he truly loves and she...she...SHE BETRAYS HIM...AGAIN! She almost killed him the first time but this time ...he is fuckin' dying, even if he doesn't say it I'm sure Liz understands and still...

Not just the long speeches which are riveting but the funny little stories and antidotes he throws in unexpectedly is sublime.
