Classic MUT (Mountain-Ultra-Trail) Running! This is good example to explain to the pure track and road runners what it means when one has to "power-hike" because the "trail" is not "runnable"🤣...and as you know that definition of what a "technical trail" shifts in degrees with mountain running races in Europe (And in states like Alaska!).
I am 34 years old and just came from being a couch potato to running 10K and now training for half marathon. Watching this made me feel so excited about what I can try in the future! This looks brutal! Much respect to you and the other athletes!
Haha, you guys are nuts. I'm just here a mix of a powerlifter and couch potato and I just watch these types of videos because my twin brother is a trail runner/ultrarunner and I want to connect with his passion.
@@ddebenedictis my half marathon went great! I also did another half after the first one and last year I also ran my first full marathon. It was a great experience.

I’m from the mountain, trail and ultra crew and while I wish you ALL the success in the Steeple, like world medal success, I am also secretly hoping you also come back and do World Mt Champs, Sky Running series etc.

This seems like such a fun event. I don't think saying "steep" gives it enough credit. It looks if you stood straight up, you'd fall backwards! The gully / gut looks like a spot where you'd rock climb with how steep it looks. It reminds me of the 2020 Ranch Loop run
This voiceover is great I really enjoyed the commentary. When and if you get the time commenting your three NCAA Steeplechase titles would be fantastic!!!!
Great video and even better narration. Very nice job. You and other runners should do more voice over videos like this one of their best performances. So interesting to hear what you were thinking during the race.
I used to run a lot of rocky, rooty, muddy trails. I never had much problem, except for one major ankle roll during a race but nothing broken. Then I was out of it for a couple of years, and during the odd trail excursion I did notice I came close to rolling my ankles much more often. It was frustrating. The trails were the same and my shoes were the same, so I came to the conclusion ankle strength is a thing and that it can be built up or lost. I guess that's why footballers do those side to side drills even though their fields are flat.
Congrats on winning in front of a nice big crowd. Great athleticism on your part. Fun to watch you go down the hill at a breakneck speed. I'd like to see you voice over the 2016 Olympic trials.
This is awesome, most people will know what it's like to push themselves to what they think is their limit - can't breathe, heart rate pounding fast, muscles on fire - but to keep going AND know that you must continue to do so for another half an hour, it's amazing. You have some engine.
Love the race commentary Allie! It's great getting your perspective on such a wild race. I think it could be fantastic if you commentated some other iconic races of yours like NXN 2014, 2016 Oly trials, NCAA XC, NCAA Steeple finals, USA Finals, Doha 2019, Millrose 2020 etc. There was this one video on youtube too that has your "xc debut" as a freshman that you could react to as well and give advice for aspiring runners.
I remember meeting you briefly during my short time on the track team at Boise State in 2015! It’s crazy to see you’ve come so far since then and this voice over is great! Keep training hours and congrats!
Awesome 🤩 This was extremely fun to watch and the narration was non-stop interesting and fun 😊 Thank you 🙏🏻 🥰👍🏻 for sharing your beautiful spirit and achievement. Very inspirational.
Starting at 10:03 you were actually skiing ⛷ down that hill. You had some pretty nice turns there. What a cool video! That race looks absolutely brutal!
WOW! Amazing Allie this looks like a very tough race but I give you so much props you did amazing and the uphill looks killer but you did amazing!!!! Congrats!!!
Love, love, love this video coupled with your voice over! Watching the Mount Marathon races on TH-cam was how I first came to know about you, Allie. I have since tried to watch about every race that you have run that exists on TH-cam. I have a world of respect for you, and I am a true fan!
When I saw this for the first time, I was terrified with the downhill sprint and thought she’s crazy! Now watching with the voiceover, I think Allie is SO STRONG.
I've only ever heard your voice when you're completely winded post race or a little girl who is super excited! Didnt expect this smoooth voice over. This recap was awesome! Best of luck with pro track, but i can't wait to some day see you at a trail race/ ultra! Keep being you!
That was amazing. The long uphill stretches really showcase what an incredible athlete she is, much more than just seeing her run fast on level ground. So much power in that compact small body! What was her heartrate going up the hills, I wonder?
Amazing Allie, your some all round athlete. It makes the fell races l've ran in England small fry. Keep the great videos coming, it's great being able to watch the professionals training, along with the great spirit in camp.
Wonderful to listen to you break down your races. Yes, please continue and perhaps have your teammates come on and interview them while watching one of their memorable races
Thank you so much! It took me back to my many mud runs. I did one mountain marathon in western Washington. Four laps on a rainy day and the last lap was so sloppy yet fun. But your race looked insane. I wish I could have had a shot at this when I could still run. I still get out, but at 68, have lost a lot of speed & endurance. Watching & listening got me so excited, I loved it. Again, thank you!!!
Nicely done. Your voice over really puts much of the leaders portion in perspective. I ran the race 19 times between 1985 and 2006 and never saw bugs like that either. Keep on, keepin' on.
Yo I didn't know you did mountain races, that awesome. Also Emelie Forsberg is a beast! her kid with Kilian Jornet is gonna break records for sure when he/she is older.
I watched this race here on TH-cam over the winter and was so inspired. You were just flying down that mountain! I’m from Alaska, but moved to ND 7 years ago. I just started running again 2 years ago. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to do this race. So inspiring. Such an amazing finish in town. Thanks for talking about this, Allie!
I have only watched your content for a few weeks and did not know you did mountain/trail running. I have ran trails for 10 years and I am in love with this race. I paced in Western States 2019, can't wait to see you there. You are amazing and can't wait to see where your career goes. So much respect, you are incredible.
Allie it's incredible watching you run this 5k!! You have not "just" elite running skills, but the all-important drive and sheer determination that it takes to be the best. It's SO inspiring to see this video - thanks for posting this! I look forward to more of your great running videos.
I stumbled upon this voice-over effort as I prepare for a series of mountain races myself. I like this format and feel it is such a terrific and interesting perspective to hear the athletes talk you through the race. This would be great for Cross Country, in particular. I saw another comment with someone suggesting Allie use a Strava. That would also add context and insight.
Definetly more voice over 🤩 Love this first hand insights from a Pro-perspective. Motivating and inspiring. Love Alaska and running but am definetly not a mountain runner. But why not having a dream in participating one day...

Can I add, everyone on the MOUNTAIN knows you Allie. Having an interest in Ultra Trail running I found one of the Mt Marathon races back in 2015 on You Tube. Then 3 months later I was in Minnesota visiting family and we went to watch the Roy Griak. A big cross country race and I'm such a fan. It was really cool when I learned someone I knew from watching the Mt Marathon race , yes you, was entered in the Griak race. Then you went and won that race! I did get to congratulate you. I wish it weren't so difficult to get a ticked for MM, because I'd love to do the whole course.

It's a lot different than running down a dirt road in Kansas, or Van Cortlandt Park in New York City. As you watch Allie run "in her environment" please remember that she is part Wolverine, part Wolf, part Polar Bear, and part Wildcat. It comes with the territory. I live and work around about ten thousand Marines in the Mojave Desert. Trust me, They're impressed!
