I got this arcade system yesterday, and I can say while I am unable to get the cheats to work, which includes the blood code, I was able to perform a fatality with Scorpion. It's extremely difficult with the controls, but it can indeed be done.
This was my first introduction to mortal Kombat and i absolutely mastered the game. I noticed that you started on Sub-Zero in the character select but on mine i start on kano wich he is my mk main but i am just pointing this out because i find it a bit weird

Well, the reason they did that is because NRS does not want any legal trouble with Daniel Pesina, whose likeness was used on the side of the original Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet (when NRS was Midway, Daniel did try to sue them back in 1996).
@@jeremyriley1238 In MK3 Liu's fatality had an MK1 arcade drop on the opponent, the side only had one of those golden dragons with no Johnny Cage. Could have did that with these.
According to the MK Genesis Manual the 3 button layout was A-Low Punch, B-Low Kick, C-High Kick, Start -Block. So try:Low Punch (A), Low Kick(B), Low Punch(A), High Kick(C), Low Punch(A), Low Kick(B), Low Kick(B) for the Blood Code to see if it works.

If you wanna see blood, you'd have to input the blood code at the text on the beginning of the game (enter ABACABB) but in this case, you'd have to figure out which button is which on yours. As much as I don't dislike the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat, I kinda wish they used the original arcade ROM.
I love it ! I don't really care if it's accurate or not.. it would fit perfectly with some of my action figures on my shelves. i'd get a bunch of mini arcade cabinets and make a dio out of them.
At least the company is making progress and moving to 16-bit gaming. .As others have pointed out, it would be great to see arcade roms on these small handhelds. Maybe one day. Looks ok for $20 price point. I wonder which game will be next on Basic Fun #14.
I think they did the sega genesis version so that by default it wouls have no blood but in the actual game you can of course turn blood on with the DULLARD code

There are 3 steps to get the uncensored version. 1.) Ductape this unit firmly to the ground. 2.) Run over it 17 times with your car. 3.) Buy a console game of MK for nearest console. 4.) Eat 3 Cheese sandwiches.

In guessing the six buttons are there for an MK3 version that will need a run button. Cheaper to make one control board for MK, MK2, and MK3, and then just having an extra block button for the first two games.
When the 8 bit guy did a video on these arcade machines, some of them were Dot Matrix displays that were similar to a Nintendo on a Chip design, while some of the other ones were segmented LCD displays. He also reviewed and restored some 80s Coleco Machines which were a Vacuum Florescent Display.
You need to figure out what is ABC since that looks to be the genesis version, it could have some on top and some on the bottom row of buttons and you need to put it in the grey text screen that says things about honor. "Blood Mode: From the Code of Honor screen, press A, B, A, C, A, B, B. If this was done correctly, the text will turn yellow and you will hear Scorpion say "Get over here!""

Ok so obviously abacabb is going to be hard to input......So try this, at the start menu press, "Down Up Left Left hold low punch Right down" That should unlock the cheats menu which will allow you to turn on the blood....If low punch doesn't work try high punch
If you do the DULLARD code, the 'cheat enabled' menu appears for half a second and disappears. That was probably due to the fact that this 'hack' was meant for kids and they dont want to show blood.
A LOT of misinformation in the comments. It's the full version of the MK Genesis game, though the DULLARD code does not fully work (menu immediately disappears). The reason the blood code doesn't work is that there is no B (or Y) button on the board, period. There is also no way to add one, because there are no pins mapped to those buttons (both blocks are mapped to START). There are test pins under the LCD though, so it's potentially possible to add some kind of JTAG or maybe USB interface and copy a patches ROM to the board...but the reason you can't put in the blood code is because it's physically impossible.

@@davezanko9051 the hundreds of dollars for an arcade 1up (which a good replica of any of the real thing) is actually worth getting, I have two arcade 1ups (Mortal Kombat 2 and Capcom legacy) and they are worth getting, especially if you want anything as close to the real thing, and yeah 20 bucks is alright...if you're ok with a cheap small knock off that is!

Wow! Besides the block buttons not being in the middle, it looks like the real thing! The art work on the sides are authentic. Thats what was on the original arcade when it was first released! Thats the color of the original as well! Brings back memories when I used to play. Its awesome and authentic!

Umk3 scorpion on a mk1 cabinet that's an Oof for me but at least it's not lagging it looks playable.
They had to do it for legal reasons (mainly to avoid giving Daniel Pesina an actual reason to take them to court).

The blood code works the button layout is just changed from the genesis so you have to put in a slightly different code

Wow! Besides the block buttons not being in the middle, it looks like the real thing! The art work on the sides are authentic. Thats what was on the original arcade when it was first released! Thats the color of the original as well! Brings back memories when I used to play. Its awesome and authentic!
