Yep yep windward heel would be good but is extremely difficult if not impossible achieve in waves (the conditions were far more wavy than they look) and moderate winds in a laser - although it would be possible in a boat with a higher freeboard. There are very few if any areas of flat water in Weymouth bay in these conditions!
I agree with danielt63 (below)-- your windward telltale seems to be streaming most of the time and that tells me (perhaps incorrectly?) that you are NOT pinching???
Although you are supposed to be pinching, it seems that your lower windward telltale was always streaming aft. I would expect it to be breaking at least occasionally when pinching. Could you please explain more about what to expect from the telltales while pinching?
Hi Jon, and thank you for all your videos and guidance. Can I please ask what PFD you use. I am a fairly broad guy and this is sort of issue as conventional models does tend to go up all the time( with racing bib or w/o) which does become a problem during tacks. Thank you
Thanks for this. Questions: 1) I've always been taught to equate pinching with luffing (either failing windward telltales or true luffing)--whereas you seem to be equating it with neither of these. Would it not be better to refer to this as 'high slow' mode as opposed to pinching? 2) By my definition of pinching (~luffing), pinching is never 'proper course' where rules of racing get involved. By your definition, it seems that pinching may not be proper course in some instances, but may be proper course in other instances. Correct? Thanks, Cameron

Thank you Jon, your instruction is well appreciated, have you thougt of putting a series of these videos on a dvd for beginners ?
I would definitely buy a dvd on how to sail a laser well
Nice
What I would like to do is put these videos on a DVD for UKLA members.
@danielt63 good shout.
Basically the boat is being sailed as high as possible with out stalling (slowing down). Video of footing to follow shortly...
