Bro this is the only trick that worked for me. I bought a cheap key and all I needed it to do was to start my remote start. It works fine. Thanks a million or shall I say about 300 bucks from the dealer!
Have you had to do any work on a PIS with the ACM module? I cannot get mine to work and was wondering if I need to sync mine up with the vehicle or reprogram it. Mine was either disabled from factory or by the department using it at the time. Also, how can you tell if the vehicle is able to accept the remote start? Would the options simply not be there in ForScan if it is not equipped for it?
No not all interceptor sedans have remote start. You'll have to check the options on your car in particular. As far as the remote, you can normally get any remote that you want depending on your version of the car and if it was or was not equipped with a PAT system.
I own a 2013 Police Interceptor Utility, and I dont have a keyfob for it. The manual states that you must CLICK UNLOCK on keyfob before cycling on/off 8 times. When I just lock and unlock on driver door and cycle 8 times, it does not go into program mode. I need a keyfob so bad.
Did you figure it out? I am reading that the interceptors are put into “dark car mode” and can’t be programmed unless it’s taken out of the mode via FORScan

Hopefully this is not a legitimate question (and no offense is intended if it is a genuine question) but in the event that it is, NO you can not change a AWD vehicle to a FWD vehicle simply by changing the PCM programming. This could result in damage to computer or hardware components depending on the outcome of that change. Honestly we've never thought to try that or had anyone report that they've tried that so who knows what would/could happen. Probably nothing good and I would not attempt that.
HELLO, your video is very well spoken . I understand very well . I have a 2014 ford explorer XLT. I have 2 keys one is “fleet “ style key no fob the other is a fob key both start my car. I bought 2 spare keys non cut and was able to program the remote . I have the switch installed under my hood already . I notice if I open the hood and press remote start it honks 2 times instead of once . It seems everything is working properly. Do all I have to do is get the adapter and download for scan and enable it ? I wonder if the dealer would do it for me ? If I tell them I just want them to enable remote start ? If not I’ll follow your links what’s your thoughts thanks
The honk you're experiencing when the hood is open is due to 2 things. First, when the vehicle doesn't have remote start enabled in the ECU it treats the remote start signal as a lock signal and the second reason is because the hood is open. The honk is to let you know the vehicle is not able to be locked completely and that the vehicle is not in "secure" mode. Secure mode is a list of checks that the vehicle has to rectify against when locking the car. If any of the checks fail, like the hood being open, the horn will honk twice to let you know that it failed the check. In some cases (depending on the year and trim package) the vehicles are pre-programmed to honk twice when pressing the lock button for any reason as an acknowledgement indicator but we've only seen that on 2019+ vehicles in our experience. To answer your other question, if you follow the video and the steps listed you should be good to go on remote start. Local dealerships typically don't just enable remote start for no reason or by requests (because they want the business of installing a whole new ECU and the full reprogram + liability issues) and the ones that do will typically charge you $500-1,100 (at least our 4 local dealers priced us at that range). The tool and DIY approach is probably your best bet for your situation if you're trying to save money but you can certainly try the dealer if you want.

I was able to make all the programming changes, but I'm having trouble programming the new keys. Spare keys programmable is enabled, but I'm not getting into programmable mode. Every run into this?
We have not had that issue. Can you describe the steps you've taken? Make sure you're turning the key 8 times, ending in the "Run" position. If you accidentally hit the starter in the process you'll have to start over. Some people were having the issue that they would turn it slightly too far, the starter would engage for a split second (even though it wasn't starting) and that was enough to cancel the cycle. If you're not bumping the starter on accident, you're turning the key 8 times ending in the run position, you're hitting the lock sequence at the beginning of the process and your vehicle's self programable mode is on, then it should work. - NOTE: This process does not work on vehicles equipped with PATS. Try using a key with no chip. If you're car does not start then the car is equipped with PATS. If it does start using a key with no chip then your car is not equipped with PATS and this process should work.
@GT-Industries I did get it to work eventually. I may have been bumping the starter. That or I screwed up the lock sequence. Either way, I'll chalk it up to user error. Thanks for the video and response.
Yes, there is a self programmable option that you have to turn on in FORScan. In one of the videos we have there is a reference to it. If you do not have the self programmable key option turned on for some models, it will not allow your vehicle to go into programming mode.
Here is the link to the proper video. You'll want to go to the time index listed in the description for key programing and how to enable it. Get to that time index and it'll show you how. - rebrand.ly/t446ihp

It can be a tricky process. Make sure you're doing exactly as described in the video. Even one click off or the timing isn't right and it won't work. There are some models that just won't do it but I'm not sure if yours would be one of those or not.

We have not experienced that issue on our vehicles. I would definitely start by looking to see if programming mode is enabled and if not then enable it. Outside of that, the only other thing is to make sure you have the right key fob and make sure your car is not equipped with the smart key system or PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) both of which could cause this not to work for your vehicle.
@gopaulsalick507 I did not get the keys cut. I figured I'd get the fobs programmed first. Next stop is locksmith, they said $40 to program. If it won't work it's $20 for trying
