All of the kids sent to youth facility’s are literally children I was sent to west ridge academy which is turnabouts sister school we got girls from turnabout at west ridge all the time . West ridge tho takes kids from 8-18 I was there for 18 months a few of the other girls had been there for 2 even 4 years most girls at west ridge only leave be use they turn 18. It’s a horrible place they way she described transportation was spot on I fought like hell cuz random people come in and just rip the blankets off of you grabbing at you they don’t tell you shit . Not to mention the sexual stuff that went on there and I am 28 now so this was awhile ago but I still have bad dreams where I am stuck there and I wake up with my heart pounding and disoriented and I was treated fairly well compared to other girls and kids and I was treated like shit so I feel her I mean she had issues but a lot of teenagers do .

I totally agree, the first memory of abuse I have is about 5 it went on with different people up into junior high. By the time I was in 4-5 the grade my head was so messed up.
I knew I wasn't "normal" but at the same time it was normal.if that makes sense.i thought the urges and desires I had were just normal guy stuff but I was literally plagued with sexual thought all day long. I am not responsible for what happened to me growing up or how it rewired my brain. But I am responsible for the choice I have made. It caused a lot of problems in my adult married life. You teach a dog to bite, that's what it's going to do. I hated the way I thought, God knows for years I tried not to think that way, but I didn't know how to stop. I was in a accident where I tipped a mixer truck over I hit my head,I got knocked out for 10-15 minutes. When I woke up,I felt different the plaguing thought and imagery was gone. The first time since forth grade that I wasn't haunted by the stuff. But I still have intimacy issues because of it.i want connection with my wife but it scares the hell out of me and the thought of being sexual causes anxiety and fear. I'm trying to learn how to do things the right way. But the damage from the trauma still effects me at 48 yrs old. It's weird I'm not responsible for what those did to me when I was younger that formed and shaped my thinking but I'm responsible for my actions. I agree that I'm responsible for my actions I just wish there was more understanding. I didn't break the law in any way shape or form, but I did form emotional connections that shouldn't have been formed,I didn't swap any spit or body fluids.i did grab a gals leg and touch a boob through a shirt.i felt horrible and told my wife. the last 15 years of my life have been hell because of it.

i've been in a lot of psych wards and i think its important for everyone to know that every single place i have been to is just as bad as the ranch or worse. and whenever somebody tries to speak up people say "you're just a kid", "you can't think for yourself", or "it's not real, you are just mentally ill". people need to realise that when they are put somewhere like this, they lose all control of their lives and are in the hands of monsters and there is nothing they can do about it. these places need to be abolished.

Thank you finally somebody said it cuz my mom had either choose for me bootcamp or therapy
then she realized her mom tried to do (the same) with her
she (my mom) chose therapy for me
My mom's like "nope I'm breaking the cycle"
But my grandma threw her in a crazy house and she almost got raped (when she was younger)
My mom is in therapy because of all the s*** my grandmother caused her.
And the therapist like "how the hell were you not taking away from your mother with all this s*** happening to a young age!?" And "how are you still alive?"
My mom's answer " I don't know" and my mom's health is shit. She on a lot of different medications because of my grandmother.
The body can take so much and mental health can destroy the body faster than whatever else can. My mom is living proof for my siblings and i that (horrible) mental (health) can destroy you.
      Note(s) for parents:
When you can't help your kid anymore please give them professional help
do not lock them up in a crazy house
do not send them to bootcamp
do not send them to places to get them fixed like your parents did before, to you.
You (do) what you wanted to happened to you when you wanted / needed help.
Ask yourself how your younger self need help and help your kid/kids that way.
      Peace ✌☮ 🕊 and Amen 🙏

Absolutely! It will literally send you into a state of psychosis.. They use it in the military for SEALs training. It's also been used as the form of torture which you mentioned and is now ILLEGAL. Makes you wonder if the sleep deprivation has anything to do with the murder?. To deprive children of sleep, who are already suffering mentally and emotionally is completely insane and counterproductive. Dr. Phil is ok with being associated with this? I hope he addresses these accusations. Parents trust him. God help me if this was done to my child. Good for Danielle for speaking out.

AMAZING!!! I went to SUWS and Copper Canyon Academy. Very strict and felt like nazi germany. No joy. So lonely. Nobody nor my therapist had faith in me. I am now a student doctor. Very traumatizing. For the wilderness program, I was kidnapped at midnight age 16 and sent to live in the woods for months. I slept in wind storms and rain and freezing temperatures. I almost rolled off a mountain with the massively heavy pack on my back. Forced to hike many hours a day. I had such bad chest pain that only got worse. I now know that I have preload failure. First day hiking, I had to run back down the mountain from a forest fire in the Pisgah ntl Forest. Bullied by peers. Cut myself with quartz rocks and was bullied more for it and said it was for attn. I couldn’t “manipulate” my parents by telling them how miserable I was. I was once able to sleep in a boy scout cabin. The wooden bed frame was inscribed “Bury My Body.” I will never forget.

It’s baffling how people could just say “oh but she was a bad kid” or “she deserved that”. She didn’t deserve that. And that camp didn’t even help her. That will just make kids worse. It made sense when that kid just snapped. Bad kids aren’t bad for no reason, that’s what they are taught. You can’t tell a child to do something and expect them to do it, but when you do something, they will mirror you. THAT’S how kids learn. “Bad” kids are just traumatized and them acting out is the only way they know how to cope. Some people don’t understand that, and that’s exactly why they shouldn’t have kids. There’s always a reason behind everything. Nothing pops up in thin air.

Not an excuse to steal cars, money, and who knows what else... if having a bad upbringing means that people excuse bad/illegal/dangerous behavior than nobody has to admit to themselves that they are responsible for their actions. A bad childhood has to stop being a get out of jail free card.

If you listen to most of what she says it's her being pissed that the ranch had rules and when the rules were broken there were punishments. Tight schedules and hard work isnt abuse. The murder she blames on the ranch? It was a resident's fault not the ranch. Bottom line, having punishments isnt abuse. The alleged sexual abuse stuff? Obviously never acceptable. The ONLY thing I agree with in this video.
