So I forgot to mention this, but the info regarding the chronicler not being able to leave the White Isle comes from an interview of Jared Pullen hosted by Dragonoficeandfire on DeviantArt, so that detail isn’t really canon, but I thought it should be included as I do with most of the Jared Pullen headcanon
The Chronicler probably tested Spyro with the manifestation of Cynder to see if he would be able to kill her if she was corrupted again. He had no problem fighting her the 1st time, but now that Spyro became friendly with her, he might hesitate if he has to fight her. Or maybe he was testing to see if Spyro was becoming like Malefor in his youth. The Chronicler had to be sure before training Spyro in Dragon Time, a power like that in the wrong hands would be disastrous.
The Chronicler was certainly a great addition in terms of storytelling and lore. He gave some background and context that was critical to Spyros success. Where to even begin with this. Lol I’ve done a lot of careful research and theorizing on this topic as well as with other things. But since it’s about the Chronicler I’d like to begin on his physical existence. To become a Chronicler, obviously we know that it’s a mantle that is earned by exceptionally worthy deeds and the ultimate sacrifice. What the old man might have done to earn such a highly honorable position must have been big and very possibly might have something to do with Malefor, since we’ve seen evidence of them living at the same time. But as a result, he died and replaced the Chronicler of the time. However, even though he’s dead, he’s also alive physically. Making him this sort of hybrid spiritual being that is neither alive nor dead. And since he’s bound to the island, that’s the only place he can physically exist. (At least in my theory.) They island exist in a separate plane of existence, that’s why it cannot be found on a map or can just simply be stumbled upon. The Chronicler has to allow you to come to him, by courtesy of unconsciousness and possibly a giant turtle creature. The gaps in knowledge and history is quite a mystery. There’s no real explanation for why it is. The Chronicler is very wise by nature, but he’s not all-knowing. He can’t see the complete future even if he wanted to. It seems that he can only glimpses of possible future outcomes. But these future outcomes are not set as we’ve seen, and not always as they first appear. For example, Malefor did in fact return; and Cynder did return to his side, although very briefly and not of her own free will. The fate of the future and the fate of everyone entirely depends on the actions of the purple dragons. They are the ones who drive the fate of an era and have the free will to defy their own fate. No one could predict what would happen with two purple dragons existing at once that are complete opposites and yet the same. It’s a little battle of wills. The Chronicler has been around for a very long time, and by his own words for many millennia, so at minimum about 2,000 years (thought I personally theorize it’s a little closer to 10,000). In eternal night he mentions that he’s not had any visitors to his island in over 1,000 years, didn’t say he was there for specifically that long. Now as to who that visitor might have been is a complete mystery. Could be anyone’s guess. My last little topic here is actually gonna be about Malefors cuz I just thought I’d mention it. During the initial contact with Malefor in his lair, Spyro had steeled his resolve and showed absolutely so fear of the older dragon, not moving a single inch even as he drew dangerously close. Meanwhile Cynder, was timid and very afraid, standing behind Spyro the entire time and stepping back as Malefor moved close. He wanted Spyro to join him in his conquest and to realize his “destiny”, but knew that he couldn’t get through to him directly. He’d been watching them closely and was aware of the bond they had, even if they didn’t know it. He then shifted his focus to Cynder and manipulated her mind with the truth. Every single statement Malefor has made was true, except for one. She did not “use” Spyro to lure him to the well of souls, at least not intentionally. Cynder was used as bait to lure Spyro to the Well and be the key to free Malefor. Once Cynder had been consumed by her own self-doubt, Malefor seized the opportunity and corrupt her once again to his side, just like what was prophesied. This was Spyro’s critical weakness that he sought to exploit, Cynder herself. His resolve fell apart, his courage shattered, he was cowering away and refused to fight or hurt her. With the weight of Malefor drilling his beliefs about the nature of himself and Spyro, and the dragon he loved being used against him, he was on the absolute edge of giving up and accepting defeat. Luckily, he was able to turn the tide and bring her back. The rest is history. So yeah, there’s my two cents about everything. I’m pretty sure I forgot some stuff but it’s ok. I can always come back and respond later. I hope you enjoy my thoughts and I love your vids. Definitely keep doing more. Also, I’d be more than happy to share my ideas with you or if you have any questions for me I can answer. I dedicated a lot of time to TLoS and it’s gonna be a part of my life forever. Always good to see stuff like this after all this time. It warms my soul.
I don't know, pretty sure the Chronicler we knew actually died and he's the exception, it has to explain why he was alive for so long and like an exchange for his life & spirit so once giving up the role to another, he's gone and cant live on.
First off, great job in creating a channel for us spyro fans where we can come and discuss the often wild and complex lore of the spyroverse without it turning into some pointless argument about whose game has the right to hold the Spyro name. Now on to the matter of the Chronicler's. One of the thing's that has often interested me about the legend's 'trilogy is this possibility that the world undergoes a period of rebirth. What if the first chronicler came from the first age where the strength of aether was greater then it is in now and that time manipulation was more commonplace to the dragon's inhabiting that age. Maybe the first chronicler was part of a order of dragon's that used there inborn ability to see and manipulate time to record the unfolding drama and help steer the race of dragon's away from temporal dead ends . But for all there knowledge and power they could not stop the fact that their world must die so that the next can be born. So instead of facing death they somehow removed themselves from this realm and into another. But they still felt a duty to the future generations, so one of there number elected to stay behind and continue their work. As the ages have gone by the successive line of Chronicler's have continued to recorded and help steer the different races of dragonkind down a path to greatness. OK that was a long piece and I know this sound's like the plot to a bad fan fiction but in the spyroverse anything is possible.
The Chronicler was the most mysterious character in the whole trilogy, a mix of a profet and a wise knowledger. He is like the mighty being over the history, who writes the story of everything and everyone, along predict it, that's an immense power. And his role is like an observer, to make things go as he saw it, but knowing how his interraction can change the course of story, as Spyro learnt about Cynder's origins along what would happen if he goes to save her. And how the role is passed through another dragon means how that one now wields such ability. Great video! I actually wanted to see the Chronicler act more in the games, like a tutor during Spyro's journey in some events like Ignitus in the breath lessons.
About the Gem that a Chronicler has, I would speculate about that Gem giving the Dragon Time power to a Chronicler, I know that when a Chronicler dies, another one takes his Traits (for example, Ignitus became of a Light Blue color after The Chronicler died) , but if that does that apply with the Dragon Time, that's why a Chronicler would need that. About him (her in case the Developers should choose a Female Dragon to be a Chronicler) returning in the Original Timeline, I imagine that he/she should be a Spirit Dragon (like the one in "Spyro : Enter the Dragonfly") and should have the most powerfull Attacks and Spells than any other Dragon, making him/her a Deity that is Worshipped by the Dragons. That's all I can think about, recently, I have started to struggle on my thoughts about something Spyro related, I guess I'm probably Overthinking about it, I'll confess (but maybe you already noticed?) that I am obsessed with Red, I thank you again for giving me that Happy Ending, but since this isn't really Canon in the Original Timeline, I always end up troubling myself on a Fear about Red not being Good at all in the Future Spyro Games, I know that I should just Accept whatever it happens in those next Games, but I can't do it, at this point, I don't even know if I am really waiting for "Spyro 7" to be released or if I want Red to Atone, Redeem himself, and being Happy again. One last thing that I want to mention is that I can't go to Twitter just because it's already hard enough for me keeping an Account on TH-cam, plus, I feel much more comfortable commenting on TH-cam than any other Site (I know that no Site is 100% Safe, no matter what) , sorry for this inconvenient, I hope this Comment did not have you bored, I hope I haven't done any Grammar Error, but, as I wrote before, I am Overthinking way too much and the result is an Headache, I hope you'll never find yourself in this kind of thing, anyway I can only judge your work as Supreme, keep up, I can see that you will be, I hope so, Liked and Loved by your Fans, I will just try to take a Break from the "Spyro Franchise Thoughts" for a while, have a nice day and, as you say to everyone, stay safe, too.

Yeah I think that Gem is what connects him to all planes which is hinted with the last cutscene of DOTD and the camera moving to it revealing the two young Dragon's in the spiritual plane, that Hourglass obviously had nothing to do with it and explains the Chronicler connecting to Spyro in the mindscape from his room so to speak.

An Idea I have about the heart of the Chronicler is it is a sort of anchor to the physical world and much like the avatar state in the legend of aang series if it is destroyed then the Chronicler line will end
I just stopped the video at 1:57 because I just had a thought I don't think I've had before: Maybe Ignitus being able to see into the pool of visions was a way of foreshadowing that he would be a Chronicler. It's an uncommon power that allows Ignitus to see others places, even if far away, and I imagine that's a power that a Chronicler would benefit from greatly and may even be exclusive to dragons either destined to become one or fit to become one. I haven't read/heard all of Jared Pullen's info and I just wanted to state all this beforehand just in case Lore of the Dragon says all this in the video and my comment becomes redundant, LOL. Edit: At 12:20 now, I KNEW IT. 🤣 Great minds think alike, LMAO. 😁 Final Edit: Finished the video, lovely as always and very informative! 😊 The inconsistencies between the Chronicler's statement of there only being two purple dragons, and then Malefor saying there are more has always intrigued me. Part of me believes Malefor may be right just because of how the Chronicler has most knowledge but not all. And as for Malefor himself, I can't tell whether it's truly the truth or a lie because he's so good at manipulating and gaslighting characters that show any sign of mental and emotional weakness that it's hard to say which statements are completely true and which are truly false. I think his intertwining of the truths and false statements are what really makes him a compelling villain and a stellar manipulator and gaslighter. That said, I still currently believe that Malefor is right, since the spirit dragons - that look like some ancestors - that appear at the end of DotD are all purple. That could be the core of the Earth making them appear purple, but I always thought they were past purple dragons dragging Malefor into a place where he can finally stay successfully imprisoned. Ignitus' spirit appeared red when speaking to Spyro from the afterlife (before Ignitus became the next Chronicler), so it almost solidifies the purple aura equaling purple dragons MORE in my mind, but that is just a theory unless it can ever be proven. I love how complex and convoluted this series is. It truly does go deeper than most will even give it credit for, just because of it's gameplay. I also grew up with Kingdom Hearts, so I became a sucker for plots that are convoluted and have wholesome aspects despite some darker tones. 🥰🧡 Great video as always!

Final Edit: Finished the video, lovely as always and very informative!
I have not played enough of the game. But anyways thank you for the information!
I thought igniteus was chosen cause he sacrificed himself in dawn of the dragon but maybe also cause he can saw visions in the pool
I would think that TLOS is the past from early times then few sentries later it will lead to Spyro 4 after reignited trilogy.
