Thank you for these very informative videos! I am a fellow trombonist and once I saw the DVD of Kooza I just couldn't stop watching it over and over again. You sound amazing and you do so much more than just play the trombone. You showed me another musical path to take and maybe in a few years I can join the Cirque family. Awesome videos and thanks!
Thanks for watching and for your kind words, Hayden! I'm glad to know you enjoy and are inspired by these videos. Feel free to check out the rest of my channel and share your favorites!
It would be very easy to hate you. No... not being creepy or internet stalky nuts. Just envious. Going back to bed - enough Lutzing for one night. Best overdub charts I've heard. I followed you here from Christopher Bill, but you've got another level of arranging and production going on. Closest I've heard is Ricardo Molla Albero - especially his Carmen video. Really excellent stuff (both of you). errr... all three of you, including Mr Bill.
+Raymond Fallon Whoa, just checked out Ricardo. Dang!! I feel like I’m in ridiculously good company being mentioned alongside him and Chris. Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words. I’ll try to keep earning it!
Thank you! That’s a Monette TS6S1. By the way, if you enjoy the multitasking, feel free to drop by my solo live-looping show at twitch.tv/jimlutzmusic on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 6pm, or Sundays at 2pm.
I love hearing all the band leader cues!! But how are you calling if you are playing a brass track? It's usually a pianist or drummer whose mouth is always free!
This is insane. My life long dream is to work behind the scenes at cds. The control you have, Jim. It's like you're an airplane pilot. Please tell me you're in Montevideo.
Hey Jim, really cool stuff. I have a question. What’s the name of the song, which comes at the beginning of the first act of the clowns and at the end of their last act. Would really appreciate it, if you could help me. Thx
Hi Jim ^^ tnx for your happy birthday yesterday: D anyway Iove the piano intermission on the end of the song, but I remember it was different, on the DVD like on the CD keep going the other piano intervention, but I hear two pianos, on that part are playing two pianos? 1:09
+Am Dhaegar Yes, at some point after we recorded the soundtrack and filmed the DVD, I think they changed the end of that music. Cirque shows do tend to evolve over time! :) Yes, there are 2 keyboard parts there. Good ears!
Jim Lutz Thank You ^^ I dont read note but I like play music hearing it, I like play that part Its so emotional, and I know at the end added L'Innocent song and I know the chords of Hum Jaisa na Dekha are the same of that part from L'Innocent song, I really like it ^^ have a nice day Jim you're so lucky to be on Cirque du Soleil
If it's a big change, then we would involve the composer, but usually we just have to adapt the music to fit the changes that happen all the time in the show. It's usually the bandleader in consultation with the artists and directors making the adjustments.
Amazing! I'm from Brazil, and a super fan of Cirque du Soleil's shows! What's the program you use to control and play the samples, and change the time signature live? I saw your videos and others band leaders too (from other CdS shows), using this same program... Thank you, and congratulations for the great job!!
+Henri Hänninen I had pre-recorded calls that I triggered with my foot. By the way, I am now playing in another Cirque du Soleil show called Paramour. Thanks for watching!
I am learning a lot watching your videos! Keep it up!
Thank you!! Glad you are enjoying them - please feel free to share!

Very impressive. I could never do all that multi tasking. By the way, what mouthpiece is that?

For some cues, I had pre-recorded calls in Ableton along with the click. :)

Aaaaahhhh youre in Paramour! :( Who's name do I scream now at the end of the show!? :P
Thank you! Glad you liked it!!
Yep, heading to New York! My replacement is named Carl Murr. Thanks for the comment, I hope you enjoy Kooza!!

Thanks Peter! I believe we just called that part Clown Baroque. Hope that helps!
@@JimLutzMusic thank you. Isn’t this some song with a name? I guess this melody is quite popular
Not that I know of...
@@JimLutzMusic alright, but thank you anyways

Jim Lutz A question more, the original composers change their songs? Is not the first time I notice this from Cirque du Soleil music.

Awesome! What company of tenor trombone are you using in this video?
Thank you! I’m playing a Shires .525 with TruBore F-attachment.
Thanks! You literally have my dream job!!!
Would you recommend the coppergate bb/f trombone intermediate?
It was a great job! I left the show in 2015, after 8 amazing years.
I'm not familiar with that horn, sorry!

+Hiagor Santoro Just realized that I never replied to this comment, sorry! Thanks for watching! The program is called Ableton Live.
+Jim Lutz No problem!! Thanks!! :D
So who calls the cues when you play?
+Henri Hänninen I had pre-recorded calls that I triggered with my foot. By the way, I am now playing in another Cirque du Soleil show called Paramour. Thanks for watching!
@@JimLutzMusic Please record some videos of it!
We love watch you play (even though i'm a drummer... lol)
