Can You Beat Skyrim With Only Crafted Items on Legendary Difficulty?

- Skyrim’s crafting system is deep and intricate, with a huge amount of different things that you can create, but I’ve never really used it much before, and on top of never really using crafting before, I’ve never played the game on Legendary difficulty before, so today I will be attempting to beat Skyrim With Only Crafted Items on Legendary difficulty.

A tip for the future to make things easier in other, similar challenges. Eat Vegetable Soup. Its cooked using a cabbage, a leek, a tomato, and a potato, and restores 1 health and 1 stamina every second for 12 minutes. It also stacks. This is on top of your normal regen as well. This means that you can infinitely bash with a shield, infinitely use power attacks, and the health part also helps you heal a bit, potentially keeping you alive longer. Actually, with enough stacks of this effect, you can even become nearly invincible as long as enemies don't one shot you. There's also Elsweyr Fondue, which does the same but for Magicka if you ever do a similar challenge using magic instead.
You also heavily underutilized alchemy and enchanting. You should have had more armour enchantments to help cut down on the damage you took, or used various resistance potions to help further, while also using poisons to boost your damage and add on special effects. If the only restriction is crafting stuff, you really should make the full use of them, maybe not including glitches since those can easily make you completely unkillable anyway.

90% of my inventoryspace is always full with selfmade potions that are complete and udder random shit like "Restore 25 Mana, deal 15 Damage, fireressitance etc" in one bottle.)

Alchemy really is like that lmao, I ended up selling all of my random ass potions like that because I didn’t want to have to keep track of them all, but I crafted a lot of them

It's funny seeing this now! A few days ago I made a mod that's meant to serve as a similar challenge, the mod disables xp and trainers for all non crafting skills, meaning that the main way to get stronger is via crafting better equipment, so you have to rely on your gear as you get to higher levels
I'm surprised you didn't choose Hadvar in the beginning because his uncle would have let you take the ingots by the smithing table for free, unless that would have broken the rules you set in or something

Part of why you saved malborn is because difficulty affects the health for all npcs and creatures.
If you summon or raise dead on novice they die very easily and followers die easily too. But on higher difficulties they have more health.
In fact, the health is unchanged, but companions and summons also take 0.25x damage like any other thing in legendary difficult.
@iagolima6364 you are wrong. As the difficulty rises your companions and summons will last longer in combat.
On novice difficulty they may even die in a single hit.

A tip for when you can use found equipment in a run: go to Largashbur before level 10 and steal a set of Orcish Armor and an Orcish Battleaxe that’s just laying on an altar there, you will need to parkour a little on the rocks but you can do it.
Tbh makes me really happy seeing other queer folk playing one of my favourite games, also the quality of this video is amazing, keep it up

Being as crafted items can be WAY better than any other items found in the game, then obviously yes. Alchemy and crafting are the real power skills in Skyrim. And while you cant use found weapons, you can disenchant them for crafting abilities like Chaos Weapon, which is awesome, especially when you max enchantment and can add a second magic ability to a weapon.
Of course it will be hard at first, but once you've got a few levels it will get much easier.
Not even a minute in and I know the potions are gonna be a mess

Here's a tip for future runs where he used enchanting dragons, resist fire and frost. Use shock damage. It's the one element they can't resist and it lessens their ability to use fire breath.

I'm surprised you not used any paralise potions , prisons are so broken and op in Skyrim even without exploits you can make poisons who 1 shot lots enemies and paralise them at same time

Yes, yes, you can beat Skyrim with only crafted items. The things you craft are more OP than any legendary item in the game, and it has been since launch. Smithing 100 with Alchemy 100 and enchanting 100 will make you a god.
Hence the legendary difficulty thing, the late game definitely got easier, but the early game was very very challenging
It's funny how in Skyrim you die as easily to mudcrabs as you die to chickens in Assassin's Creed Odyssey from level ~35 onwards.
I had a side quest where I had to kill 3 chickens to teach a kid how to be a farmer... after getting killed twice I decided to range them. They die quickly but when they attack it "stun locks" you. Awesome mechanics where *everything* scales according to your level...
Imagine playing Skyrim, and saying that you never crafted, or played on legendary difficulty...
Watching them not block with the shield is super painful. Block is the best skill tree for fighting dragons in base Skyrim. The ability to just power through dragon breath by blocking is amazing. Also swing zero enchants on the armor and shield is also painful.
Hey man, nice video! Now, I dunno if you are against the use of exploits such as the item duplication glitch, but in any case, I wanna say that if you obtain a flawless diamond and a gold ingot, you are able to craft a diamond necklace that is worth 1200 gold, and since how much your smithing increases is based on the value of what you craft, by crafting around 220 diamond necklaces, you can reach 100 smithing in around 15 minutes or so, and most of that is spent doing the item duplication glitch to duplicate your diamonds and gold ingots.
I avoid exploits in my challenges but will use them if I have to, I’ve got a video that I’m gonna start working soon that is only possible because of a duplication exploit so it’s definitely somewhere I’m willing to go when the challenge requires it
Technically, the runnis invalidated. You didn't craft the soul gems used in enchanting.

0:54 min.: Realy simple. Get your self the hearthfire dlc. Get the house with the glasshouse wing and then get your self 1 of every plant stuff that you need for the crafts.
I never do it my self because its makes the game too easy if you one shot like everything in the game but if plants exists for every potion that you need than its hilloursy easy to get what you want.
Ore get you form MANY mines and vendors, then healing points arent the problem. You can get the stuff for them in basicly the first city. And then you have the stuff for smithing.
For this you can kill foxes in the wilds or hunt deers or go for wolfs.
Ore is also a great option.
So if you make it smart you can beat everything with it. The only problem that you will have to face is the enhancements. This could you buy and this is the best option because they are random so grap some gold and reseting in inventorys form vendors would be the best option to get what you need.
After you equip your self with a equipment that gave you basicly dmg and armor cap you play the game and one hits everything with a wooden sword or somthing like this. ^^

Because if you count enhancement as magic alchemy is also magic and vorbidden.

Great video. At first I thought only crafting would be a relatively easy challenge, but once I saw "no magic", things definitely took a turn for the interesting.
I wonder. Does using a Staff of Storm Atronach that you craft yourself at the Atronach Forge count as a craftable item you can use for this challenge? It's very easy to get the materials for it (Void Salts are in your room in the Hall of Attainment, while an Orichalcum Ore and a Broom are right next to the Atronach Forge itself; all you have to do is prepare about 1000-1100 gold for a Greater Soul Gem), and the Storm Atronach in particular is very useful against mages and dragons, which you had a lot of trouble with here.
I didn’t actually know about the atronach forge until I was pretty deep into the challenge and at that point I didn’t want to pivot that hard so I didn’t go for it, but it definitely would have changed things a lot if I went down that route

Short answer: Yes you can. I mean if you do the loop you can one shot EVERYTHING and you can tank everything. So yeah you can. Its playing the game on easy mode tbh.

Yeas, easy yes. Crafting is broken and renders all loot useless. HOWEVER i respect you for going tank instead of stealth Archer at the start.

Honestly you couldve broken this challenge with a restoration loop glitch to smith some insane gear. But then it wouldnt have been much of a challenge.

alchemy, enchanting, smithing is the trinity of skyrim, they make everything works
From my experience, is pretty easy to beat the game just using the stuff you find, buy or steal, but if your goal is to break the game with crazy exploits, then look no further than crafting. It Just Works (tm).

Should have followed Hadvar. If you follow him to Alvor's house, you can take all the Iron and Steel Ingots (5 of each) that spawn next to the Workbench for free, and they periodically respawn. You hamstrung yourself following Ralof.
Or you could steal them, also free 😅
@@MissIllLil - True, but if you get them legitimately, you don't have to worry about getting caught, and they can't be taken from you if you're stopped by guards because of a bounty. You don't get anything as useful, especially for this particular challenge, by following Ralof.

@@MissIllLil - We all know who you follow doesn't matter. You can join either faction, regardless, and even switch sides halfway. It's just pragmatism to follow Hadvar. I don't just collect ingots for crafting. Just one fully built homestead takes about 300-400 iron ingots. The freebies help in the long run and I don't want them marked as stolen or have the chickens report me for stealing (yes, chickens report crimes.)

I always play on Legendary when I play Skyrim. You make it sound like crafted gear is bad.
In Skyrim, the type of armor you use does not matter because you can reach the armor cap with any armor type, which is 567 armor (80% damage reduction). So, you can use any armor you want. What is the BEST armor? Short answer = Elven. Enchanting is also needed for Legendary because of x2 enchants on all items.
I thought everyone knew this. All the information is out there on the wiki and guides about caps and how damage scaling works.
So, what you really should do when playing on Legendary? Get the armor cap, which is 567 armor. Get magic resist cap(85%) Book of Love quest in Riften for +15 Resist Magic and +30 magic resist from Alteration helps alot to achieve this. Play a race that gives you resistance to help you cap that out as well. for example Breton which also grants +25 magic resist.
You can't really do anything else than a dual-wield(the best) or bow build if you want decent damage when playing on Legendary if you're doing it 'legit.' You can play any build if you exploit the Alchemy and restoration glitch, though. You should abuse Vegetable Soup for any Stamina build. You can get 100 skill in sneak/one-handed/two-handed, etc., at the start of the game just by attacking Ralof/Hadvar.
The only negative thing about Smithing + Enchanting is that after you've crafted and enchanted your gear, you will NEVER find an upgrade from killing dragons/bosses or chests. After you've crafted your gear, you are pretty much done.

Did you ever upgrade your equipment? It could have made your armor rating higher and your weapons stronger. Ot counts as crafting

Never ever played legendery and never will. Adapt is plenty diffulcult even with a max smithing and enchanting. character for me. Also you was close, Esburn is 70
