Thanks for making and posting this , got a subscribe there. Delighted to see this, taken on a Sunday afternoon I think? I spend a great deal of time as a volunteer cleaning and tidying Walsall town centre, I have painted or cleaned off any graffiti in the town centre, I have cleared flytipping and regularly litter pick. I have painted the market stall panels, the large black bins and utility boxes., the alley with the yellow walls, the bus station walls etc You could see Council workers in the streets here cleaning too. Its all clean and tidy, there are more shops open in the week. Thank you for highlighting our town.
Hi, thanks for commenting, I will return on a busier day for sure
Walsall, a shadow of it`s former self. I grew up in Palfrey just a mile from the town center. We went to the baths by coach from our school. We used the Brine pool but later as teenagers we used the Gala pool. As young men we went on many a stag do or Christmas booze up. 1:56 used to be the Dirty Duck a notorious place for trouble. Other pubs were, The Talbot, The new Inns and The Tavern in the Town. Then off to the Indian for a curry and carry on drinking. The market stretched right up to St Mathews church, we did it one Christmas with a double buggy, never again. WH Smith has to be the oldest shop in Walsall, I remember buying my first 45rpm records Looking Through The Windows Jackson 5 and Crocodile Rock Elton John. I still live in Walsall just on the outskirts. Thanks for posting this video.
We live on the outskirts also, but on,y been in the area about 6 yrs
Born in Palfrey 1937, raised there until 14 years old. Loved the area back in the day. A sorry state now. Enjoyed the video. Thanks.
❤
walsall is like a barren boarded up dystopia now m&s gone, debenhams gone and thorntons gone and just bargain shops and charity stores now.
@@rainingscuds Hi, it’s the same in many towns unfortunately
@@DavesTravels-uk have you seen cannock though it has all designer shops and has a lot of them. their must be plenty of affluent people shopping their and i couldnt believe my eyes at first as i didnt expect to see it.
@@rainingscuds hi, yes I have a video on Mcarthur Glen outlet Cannock. th-cam.com/video/ynNfvl1kq5Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hvWp8rm71nw3NNf_
@@DavesTravels-uk Thankyou
@@rainingscuds also buried deep somewhere is a Cannock video 👍
Walsalls sadly in a state of flux with the council in a vacuum of how to rebuild and inject new life into the town. Progress isn’t what is needed… it’s traditional services being encouraged back into shops and the pedestrian areas returned back to roads to encourage drive through shoppers and visitors.
Hi there, I don’t think traditions will ever return, and whether we like it or not, sadly this is happening to many towns and cities across the UK, thanks for your input and have a great weekend👍
@@DavesTravels-uk You to Dave. It’s a shame seeing it being decimated and as you say once traditional trading is gone it’s gone! Thanks for the video and look forward to seeing more 👍
