About 8 years ago I purchased a Classic 2011 500 Bullet with a sidecar. I quickly discovered sidecars have ... rules.... You'll make promises to God for about 200 miles or so before you get the hang of it. Since then.... 1500 mile round trip solo camping trips.... Wife did a 300 mile day... loved it. I enjoy mine... three wheeled fun... 😎
Willie I have to warn you that sidecars are addictive things. I borrowed my neighbour's Thunderbird 900 and sidecar and that was it I had to have one! Kept my BMW R1200 GSA and purchased a secondhand (as new) sidecar and then bought a Triumph T120 and had it fitted. Since then I thinks I've covered more miles on the outfit than I have on the GSA. Everywhere you go people stop to talk about it, riding it is certainly different from a solo but it's just soooo much fun! If you want to pop down to Braintree I'll gladly show you!
My outfit was a terrible beast but it was just the standard Jawa combination. It would be interesting to try a proper one with leading link front suspension, a proper fork brace/damper and smaller, wider wheels fitted with car tyres. I would imagine that would be a completely different experience.
I tried a sidecar. I used to offer people free lifts from work just to get some weight in it. Very unique experience that I'm in no rush to repeat. But if the seed is sown do it as cheaply as possible except setup or try somebody else's.
Back in the 80s I had z750 twin with sidecar on it to take my kids around in and the sea side it's was horrible to learn how to but once I figured it out it's brilliant the kids love it you just need a light weight one you will love it just for a quick ride out
Does your missus know that you fancy a bit on the side ? They are great fun and a good looking one always attracts attention and admiring glances . But they require careful handling and you will need to develop alternative skills . Not a thing to undertake lightly and one must be able to afford the extra financial burden . There are very slim sporty models available with open tops or for the gentleman who prefers comfort there are solid wider beamed reliable performers . All must be ridden astride whilst wearing a helmet to avoid future complications . They can be enormous fun or a pile of trouble , so chose wisely . But I digress ,so getting back to sidecars , they are bl**dy great things and I've had one for years to carry my German Shepherd 🐕 ( she wears goggles and gets lots of attention ). But unless you just want to potter about , you need at least 80hp . My advice is to buy an existing rig to avoid the complicated setup. Sidecar driving is addictive and you are one of the elite if you take the time to master the art of driving one . Not for the Frankly Dangerous people of this world 😂.

Keep up the good work and keep posting your videos....... it does help while away the evenings. I would love a bike with a sidecar.......they just seem too expensive. I would buy a bike with one attached.......wouldnt want to put it on my road bikes.....AND if you get stuck in traffic then you are still stuck.....may as well buy an MX5 or motorbike engine 2 seater as least the roof could go up if its peeing down....... BTW.....glad im not blocked!!!🤣😂
When driving a outfit,forget you have legs,and push pull with arms. Start off doing slow figure of eights in a large space with no cars or obstacles...Don,t try first ride on public road. Good luck!
As mentioned, there is an art to riding a combo. It is very different to riding a bike and they have to be professionally set up. It would go on the left side for UK riding. Most people who try them, vow never to again! The sidecar passenger doesn't need a helmet. The rider does because it is still a motorbicycle. Trike riders do not have to wear helmets because the law says bicycle and not tricycle. I have plenty of experience on trikes but not combos.
Willie enjoyed the livestream. Here's a starter topic for the next video or livestream, I noticed you said the comparison between the classic 350 and the gb350 honda. As you did. I also made that comparison, then after the stream ended, I was thinking that they can't really b compared, if u look at the classic 350 it's really a copy of a 1950s bike old classic looks ,,,, the honda gb350 on the other hand look like a copy of a 1976 or 70s japanese style bike,,,, what u think , I've changed my mind now ,,,,discuss, ,,,😊

Sidecar sounds great. Before you get a monkey, try a Grom (Honda MSX 125). They are brilliant. My son who is 6ft 2 had one. Regretted selling it, but I haven't met anyone who hasn't regretted selling a good bike. Looking forward to Willie's Inn!
You have to wear a helmet the person in the chair doesn't,you can only have a left side outfit in UK due to legal requirements not to put the passenger in the way of on coming traffic,yes they have a frame and they are about 6K from Squire who specialise in Enfields
Legally must be on the left. Basics of riding is left handers go in slow and accelerate round. Right handers go in fast and brake your way round. not as easy as you think and will need a classic 500 specific frame or one built for it by the experts.
My wife Willie has been banging on 4 yrs 4 me to get one 4 my 2 Royal Enfield s, she used to love going out in the sidecars at the now de funked watsonion Enfield bash at Brockley in the cotswolds ive never liked anything with 3 wheels hey but thats just me i know people that loves sidecars .😊

Hi Willie - it’s Big Rodders in Ireland. I had a Jawa 350 with Squire sidecar in the late 70s. I loved it but driving one (not riding) is an art/craft that has to be learnt quickly before you kill your self! They are particularly stable in snow as the sidecar wheel whips the outfit back into line when you slide. I have considered sourcing another outfit but a new sidecar will set you back £5/8k and setting one up is a skilled task.
If you do get a sidecar make sure it can be detached easily because you won't want it on all the time. If you can find someone with a side car makes sure take one for a drive so you don't waste your money on something you might not like. BJ

That's the important thing 🙂 Side car's remind me of Olive and Arthur from 'On the Buses', so not for me lol. They were popular when people couldn't afford cars, so if you have a car.... If you fit one it has to go on the left, so won't interfere with your exhaust and rear brake etc.
Get any colour bag you like, you can always dye it!😂😂😂. As far as a chair, run away and keep going. The chair I had was the closest to death I've come, it involved a narrow lane and a big lorry coming the other way.

Third bike I owned was a Matchless G10 650 with a Garrard Zeppelin chair . Great fun in winter and toured the west country . Whole outfit cost me £50 . Dont get a double adult and child chair its like having a caravan on the side of the bike Sports or Zepplin are great but they will eventually twist the bike frame out of shape . PS I'll return your Ernie model when we meet up next mate .

In my humble opinion, you need professional help... With the sidecar, of course, I mean... Fourty years ago, my brother had a danish Nimbus with sidecar, it has next to nothing in common with driving a solo machine. But it has its charms, and during winther it feels a bit more safe, as you won't go down, just spin to Hell and back... 😅
A classic always looks cool with a sidecar but I suspect it’s tricky to handle not as much fun and imagine the hassle pushing it out of the garage would be a pain.when you have cleaned the bike and is dry cover them up with a soft blanket helps keep the dust off.

I had one for 1 winter and it was definitely 1 winter too many. It was under 2 years old when I bought it and I was the 6th owner which tells you everything you need to know about the joys of sidecars. On the +ve side it enabled me to work shifts in a chemical plant that was impossible to reach by public transport. Most important is the obligatory sidecar joke:- Q. What has 3 wheels and roars along the seabed at 100 miles an hour ? A. A motorpike and sidecarp
My Dad (Ernie) and my Uncle Frank had a sidecar outfit but I can't remember any details. I do remember him telling me though, that they used to carry a small lump hammer. Every few miles, they had to hammer it back into position as the main fixings used to come loose 😂
Hey Willie, I must admit sidecars intrigue me too, I’d rather ride an outfit than a trike for sure. It’d be great for icy winter roads and taking the family out all at once! My main concerns are that you’d have all the downsides of a car - no filtering, harder to park etc, and still have to put up with the bad parts of motorcycling - cold and rain etc. I’ve heard people say you have to unlearn everything you know about riding a motorcycle and learn a whole new technique. If they’re quick and easy to attach/detach it would be a cool option to have though 👍.
They're not cheap & you would have to move that table to get it in your shed so you can get off & on bike.They do bolt on both sides but in UK bolt on left side.You both need to wear helmets.They are different to ride.My mate has one with sidecar on right hand side as it us a 1942 Ural import from Vietnam 🇻🇳. HE has rat rodded it painted patina on it & it's old too & has bullet hole in it either from WW2 on Eastern Front or Vietnam War in 1960's-70's & possible seen action in both.I gave him some I inch Motone Up & Overs bar risers for a bit of bling & suits bike well being a Rat Rat.HE carries his dog around & dog 🐕 wears goggles. Sidecar aren't cheap even going used.
I suspect others have told you by now, but in America, we put our side cars on the right because we drive on the right, whereas you should put yours on the left. Otherwise, your passenger will be peeking out around the truck you’re trying to pass before you will, and you’ll have to depend on their screams for guidance.
@ One of the "work around solutions" to allow us learners to continue to use our 150-250cc bikes when the 125cc limit came in. A sidecar that leans; whodathunkit ?!?
I fancy a Ural, a mate in Norfolk was selling one for £4000 last year. I looked deeper into sidecars and realised they're not what I want. Really weird handling, and imagine reversing that into the garage.
They take awhile to get the hang of. But are addictive once you do. It does take afew 100 miles . A short ride will just put you off. The cost mite surprise you.
With regards to sidecar handling, it's nothing like a bike, the first time you try it's gona be erm interesting and I suggest brown trousers lol, basically you accelerate round left turns and brake into rights
Ive always thought a sidecar would be the coolest just for the novelty. Interceptors are such a good deal right now, i thought an interceptor would be the perfect power plant for a sidecar. The right style, and enough power and weight to wrestle one arround...
Noooo!! Hi Willie, I had a Norton ES2, (which was a 500 single), with a so called 'double adult' sidecar back about 1969/70. To be fair, it was a bloody good laugh at the time, but I was about 18 and the roads were a lot quieter back then. As others have pointed out, they handle differently (to say the least), from anything else you've ever tried. I removed the 2 (one behind the other), seats and used it like a little van. Me and my girlfriend even slept in it one night, on one of the many occasions that it broke down... Damn! We were all so skinny back then! Anyhoo mate, really , just NO. 😮

If you have driven a Reliant Regal 3 Wheeler then think Bike Combo and how it handles. They are mega expensive new. I know someone whose had a new Watsonian fitted to their 350 Meteor, cost 8k, presumably 2nd hand values are reflected on current new prices.🤔👍

Radley bags are nice according to my gf. Setting up a sidecar is a very specialised job.

A classic always looks cool with a sidecar but I suspect it’s tricky to handle not as much fun and imagine the hassle pushing it out of the garage would be a pain.when you have cleaned the bike and is dry cover them up with a soft blanket helps keep the dust off.

I had one for 1 winter and it was definitely 1 winter too many. It was under 2 years old when I bought it and I was the 6th owner which tells you everything you need to know about the joys of sidecars. On the +ve side it enabled me to work shifts in a chemical plant that was impossible to reach by public transport.

My Dad (Ernie) and my Uncle Frank had a sidecar outfit but I can't remember any details. I do remember him telling me though, that they used to carry a small lump hammer. Every few miles, they had to hammer it back into position as the main fixings used to come loose 😂

Hey Willie, I must admit sidecars intrigue me too, I’d rather ride an outfit than a trike for sure. It’d be great for icy winter roads and taking the family out all at once! My main concerns are that you’d have all the downsides of a car - no filtering, harder to park etc, and still have to put up with the bad parts of motorcycling - cold and rain etc. I’ve heard people say you have to unlearn everything you know about riding a motorcycle and learn a whole new technique. If they’re quick and easy to attach/detach it would be a cool option to have though 👍.

They're not cheap & you would have to move that table to get it in your shed so you can get off & on bike.They do bolt on both sides but in UK bolt on left side.You both need to wear helmets.They are different to ride.My mate has one with sidecar on right hand side as it us a 1942 Ural import from Vietnam 🇻🇳. HE has rat rodded it painted patina on it & it's old too & has bullet hole in it either from WW2 on Eastern Front or Vietnam War in 1960's-70's & possible seen action in both.I gave him some I inch Motone Up & Overs bar risers for a bit of bling & suits bike well being a Rat Rat.HE carries his dog around & dog 🐕 wears goggles.
Sidecar aren't cheap even going used.

I suspect others have told you by now, but in America, we put our side cars on the right because we drive on the right, whereas you should put yours on the left. Otherwise, your passenger will be peeking out around the truck you’re trying to pass before you will, and you’ll have to depend on their screams for guidance.

I fancy a Ural, a mate in Norfolk was selling one for £4000 last year. I looked deeper into sidecars and realised they're not what I want. Really weird handling, and imagine reversing that into the garage.

With regards to sidecar handling, it's nothing like a bike, the first time you try it's gona be erm interesting and I suggest brown trousers lol, basically you accelerate round left turns and brake into rights

Ive always thought a sidecar would be the coolest just for the novelty. Interceptors are such a good deal right now, i thought an interceptor would be the perfect power plant for a sidecar. The right style, and enough power and weight to wrestle one arround...

Noooo!! Hi Willie, I had a Norton ES2, (which was a 500 single), with a so called 'double adult' sidecar back about 1969/70. To be fair, it was a bloody good laugh at the time, but I was about 18 and the roads were a lot quieter back then. As others have pointed out, they handle differently (to say the least), from anything else you've ever tried. I removed the 2 (one behind the other), seats and used it like a little van. Me and my girlfriend even slept in it one night, on one of the many occasions that it broke down... Damn! We were all so skinny back then! Anyhoo mate, really , just NO. 😮

If you have driven a Reliant Regal 3 Wheeler then think Bike Combo and how it handles. They are mega expensive new. I know someone whose had a new Watsonian fitted to their 350 Meteor, cost 8k, presumably 2nd hand values are reflected on current new prices.🤔👍
