The menu wasn’t always like that. When McDo first opened in the early 80s, the menu was similar to that in the States. However, as Jollibee took over as the No. 1 fast food restaurant, they had to tweak their menu to appeal to the Jollibee crowd.

It's also because you have different taste perception. Most of the foreign foods if eaten 1st time is not as good as you would like. It takes time to adjust

Im not sure with the cheesy burger but it has different taste from cheeseburger. The meat's color is lighter. It's like it has pork meat in it or something. Just check all their premium burgers, from quarter pounder, Big Mac and cheeseburger, it has the same meat which is darker and more flavorful than the meat used in cheesy burger.

the best stuff on mcdo are always time limited (teryaki burger, ebi shrimp burger, mcspicy chicken sandwich, spicy mcnugs, the korean burgers, etc). same deal with kfc but its weirder like the chizza (pizza but the dough is chicken), chaco (tacos but the shell is chicken), the og cake (not cake, the "cake" is mashed potatoes), double down dog (hotdog in a bun but the bread is chicken), etc.

For me, everything is better in Jollibee except the fries. Mcdo fries are better. Recommending Mang Inasal, Zane-- to get a good roasted chicken .

To be honest, I actually like the menu in McDonald's here than ones back in the states. In the US, their food quality is not very consistent, sometimes you get soggy buns sometimes not, goes with fries too. Here, I actually like their food when they give it to y ou, its hot and just the right texture and ingredients. Their apple pies are way better too, more applies inside them and its the old recipe, with the crispy outsides. The chicken though takes the crown here, I actually like their chicken more that Jollibee. Peace!

Looked up a video to confirm after trying McDonalds in Manila that the burgers are not beef? At least not *ground* beef. They are more akin to a sausage patty. I looked on McDonald’s Philippines website, and it claims “Everyday, burger patties are prepared and packaged at McDonald’s approved meat plant”. Interesting to say the least. Not to knock down the taste perception here - don’t take this as a complaint just a point of interest. There are a few items like this which would seem to be 1:1 with American counterparts, but are made differently. Korea was much more similar when ordering items available in both countries.

Just to be fair the spaghetti is not as bad. Chicken ala King is a popular dish ( checked out other TH-cam recipes ) this is a cream sauce recipe not based on coconut sauce.
To be fair as well, one cannot judge the food and say it is the worst Mcdonald in the world ( if you have travelled 100% in the world or if one understands food well that is a different story ) but you can always say "as far I have eaten from other countries that I have been to."
As a tourist, always be careful on what one is saying, as a viewer one should always be discerning and not always believe.
One can be brutally honest but always be fair and give a little respect to the food stall/chain/establishment in another country. Btw, it is pronounce as McDo ( as in Do in Do-Re-Mi ) and not McDu
