    Awesome drill. I coach my kids 3rd/4th grade (8-9 year olds) rec team and I was afraid this would be too hard for them but after 2 mins they picked up on it and they really impressed us. Love your videos and I have been incorporating them into our practices. THANK YOU

    😁 For everyone wondering which line players should move to:
    Left Line: Moves to Middle line
    Middle Line: Moves to Right line
    Right Line: Moves to Left Line
    They basically move to the next line over. Until they rotate back to the left line. Hope this helps.

    This is a good drill but what you should also have the kids focus on is making proper passes. Many of the passes are sloppy and they will make those same passes in games. It will be more effective to still do the drill but emphasis on all passes must be textbook and good passes for the other person to catch and do something with.

      @@CoachAshworth I did this drill just today with my U14 and it was fun to watch them execute this drill. I made sure to work this drill on both sides of the court and I later substituted the layups for jumpshots.
      On a sidenote... what would be the best full court press in your opinion?

    • @CoachAshworth
      @CoachAshworth  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@onthesideline-coachprevost1116 Glad the drill could help! always adapt and use variations once they get used to it and continue to make it challenging.
      The "best" press is always going to depend on who your players are. A diamond 1-2-1-1 is always a good option to get early traps in the corners. But if you have length and athleticism, then a 2-2-1 can be effective as well.

      @@onthesideline-coachprevost1116 - Watching this video just now and looking to have this as our pregame warmups but curious how you implemented a shot as it looks like the scoring line would be too close to the hoop by the time the pass came there way. Did you have them backup or just delay the shooter from cutting to the basket?

    • @onthesideline-coachprevost1116
      @onthesideline-coachprevost1116 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JoeDays23 I just had them back up. At the youth level close shots matter quite a bit. I made sure to back things up where the kids were able to pull up for a jump shot just a few feet away from the basket.

    Great drill coach, how do you determine which line you go to after a pass or layup?

    • @CoachAshworth
      @CoachAshworth  ปีที่แล้ว

      We usually just tell them to make sure everyone gets a layups. So you shouldn’t have the same guys going in the same lines. Usually the fill in naturally

    • @frankieflint8558
      @frankieflint8558 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simple answer to this simple question so ur person scoring the layup is on the right side than you have ur middle men and left so from the right ur passing to ur middle man ur person on the right side that started the warm up is going to pass to middle and go to the end of the right side line”scoring line”in this sequence you have middle passing to left which leaves middle man going to the end of left line after each pass which leaves you with your left man making the chest/bounce pass to ur 2nd man in the right line of this warm up drill your first person in left lane should end up at front of the right lane making the quick bounce pass to middle and following leader leaving your left starter behind ur right starter

    What happens if they don't hit the target of 24 layups ? Do it again?

    • @CoachAshworth
      @CoachAshworth  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We usually have them do one sprint for however many below 24 they got. So if they only made 22, they’d have 2 sprints.

    Honestly, not the best drill and would not use. Why? There is no intensity, after your pass or lay-up you have to wait to long time. If the aim is to teach lay-ups and passing, then there are much better drills.

    • @TheTeamblack
      @TheTeamblack 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What is your favourite drill to teach passing and layups. I have 14 players and most struggle with layups. They don’t practice on their own so I need to use something effective. 🤔

    Coach: what is the correct line to go for each line to after the group of three guys are finished? I cannot figure this out as some of the guys go the the wrong line as far as I can see, which is confusing.

    • @CoachAshworth
      @CoachAshworth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have them rotate on their own, we don’t necessarily dictate what line they have to go to, although we want every player to get a layup at some point in the drill.

    • @demensclay6419
      @demensclay6419 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CoachAshworth Thanks coach and although this makes sense, it is my experience that especially young kids and beginners tend to go to one line and that most of them follow the other to that specific line, so that suddenly alot of kids are in one line, while the other two lines are empty. I thought there was a specific order, hence my question. Thanks again.
