- Welcome to the fifth edition of the Marble League #ML2020, sponsored by Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, and Event 7: Block Pushing!
The classic test of teamwork returns as a three-way race for the championship emerges! Marbles must push the block forward as a collective while avoiding bumping into each other. Will the podium belong to former champions like the Midnight Wisps, or to an upstart team? And will a three-year Marble League Record belonging to the O'rangers fall? This one's for all the marbles!! #marblelympics #marblerace #marblerun

Team Momo sucks no matter how they do
I feel like everyone was so impressed by how badly the Hazers screwed up, that they couldn't appreciate how much Team Momo improved between runs.
As an O'Rangers fan, I definitely noticed momo reaching second place.

Yeah, Midnight Wisps getting gold, Momo getting a rare medal, and Orangers continuing their 2020 dominance is great, but the biggest congratulations have to go to King Stardust and his team for nearly setting a better distance than that second Hazers run, getting within 5cm. Very impressive for a bunch of average Joe's!

Hazers are good at racing and balancing competitions. Strength and straight speed was never their expertise, but MAN was that block push a train reck and a half! Never expected such a failure from my favorite team :(

It’s just not their game
I think they need to look at the coaches, this wasn't poor individual performance, the Hazers did not perform as a group. Training and leadership need changes for 2021 or Hazers will be entirely reliant on luck in this event.
They probably hate block pushing, i wasn't expecting anything for today...
We appear to be just going through the motions here at the marble league which is disappointing, we definitely are already looking ahead to Marbula 1
The Midnight Wisps own this event. Gold last year, gold in the qualifiers, and now gold again this year! Let's hope this momentum continues into the next events! #WillOfTheWisps

Richmont the reality is simply that the marbles created the best formation in order to maximize the distance of the block push. It’s about motion and not weight. If you noticed, their second attempt was far worse.
Of course, whenever any marble team is consistently good people want to point fingers saying that they’re different than the other marbles somehow (ie. Savage Speeders). It’s an invalid and pointless accusation.
Just watch and try to enjoy the marble league. That’s what we’re all here for.
Cats Eyes have consistently been the Dark Horse in this year's events. I'm still waiting for a really solid win to jump them into first place

It’s clear the Midnight Wisps we’re exhausted after that record setting push in the first heat. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they sat out the second heat just to avoid risking injury...but, of course, that’s not the type of competitors they are.
I’m a Balls of Chaos fan, but I’ve always liked the Midnight Wisps, so it’s nice to see such an amazing run, even as my team underperforms AGAIN. #LetChaosReign #WilloftheWisps

The Midnight Wisps are the Royalty of Block Pushing! Haven’t they medaled in every block pushing event in ML history? They’re the physically strongest team year in and year out. Congrats to Team Momo for getting on the podium too!
They did not want the O'Rangers to enjoy the gold or the record this year. They demanded the title for themselves.
Wisps always valued their strength and team chemistry. They also won the collision gold in the 2018 ML that ultimately made it possible to go on and win the whole league.
Zaphlux Exactly. I’ve been saying for years the Wisps and Hazers are polar opposite teams, and it’s manifested every year in block pushing. The Wisps triumph and the Hazers stay in the cellar. They’re strong physically, but slower (like collision in ML ‘18, block pushing, relay run ML ‘19). The Hazers are one of if not the fastest team in the League, but are physical weaklings.
Ahmed Steadman the wisps aren’t even slow tho. Remember their incredible performance in the final event in ML 2018.
Noam Aviv not slow, but slower. They aren’t famous for their speed like the Speeders or Hazers overall.
I hope Razzy has recovered from the injury. The Raspberry Racer should do well in block pushing, as this is an event where physical marble-strength and sheer teampower have to go hand in hand with coordination and tactics which suits their strength. A sophisticated event that is easily dismissed as a "brute force event" instead of the fine-tuned team effort that it needs to be!
We have been working hard and hope our teamwork is as good as it always is

@@cdw2468 To be fair, this year Midnight Wisps even had a great start, I think they got first, second, third, 2 fourth and a fifth place in these 7 events. But that worries me, they don't stick to their usual comeback strategy, that might backfire in the latter half of Marble League.
It's impossible to know which teams to look out for. Speeders, Minty, Cats, Wisps, Razz, even Momo...
This is huge for the Midnight Wisps, they were doing alright in the standings but now they're really contending for the top spot. #FearTheNight

I really enjoy watching these contests. I am so glad John Oliver is sponsoring them. I gave up on human sports when winning at any cost became the ultimate goal. Back when I was in sports, during the days of the dinosaurs, the goal was to play our best. It is a shame sports no longer seem to have that goal.

In the beginning of this event , I was apprehensive: The first runs seem chaotic (and I am not referring to the balls of chaos runs), with the marbles going all over the place. Seriously: is it that difficult for four trained marble athletes to keep together for a push!?
That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of competition. My biggest shock and respect came from MOMO's rrun . From nowhere in the table to second place! That takes heart!
And I think we can put aside the Host's Curse for this year's Marble League: Team Galactic is doing a fine performance. If they keep this up, they can expect to be in the top six, and even have a shot at a medal.
But my favourite part: Orangers got the Bronze, and now are in first place!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RANGERS!

Remember when the block pushing event in the qualifiers is the only thing that got Midnight Wisps into the Marblelympics?

they're incredible. I just how it's not cause they've only been training for block pushing.
My Midnight Wisps are thicc boys who are built for momentum based events. That's why we're so bad in the funnel, and the sprint and long jump events and dominate in Block Pushing and always compete in Hurdles. I just hope we can keep that going in the next events.

It's amazing how the Oceanics always manage to be in the last spots. Same last year. Maybe something is going on behind the scenes thats messing with them, which is affecting their performance. Hoping they get better!

Its always amazing to see the old records fall. Really shows how far the strategies and training of these marbles has come.

Seeing that they got so much farther than Hazers must have been pretty encouraging to the athletes, and team Momo needs all the encouragement they can get!
Well, in sports or in pool in close comparison you can score totally by accident and it still counts. If you see the replay, they had no idea what happend :)

I'm new to this, just started 2019. But they're my backup team. But seems like they're the ones holding my hope after my main team (hazers) performed like this on this event.

Yeah, I was amazed they moved up to #2 spot after this event, but they'll need to do better to have any chance of overtaking #1. These marble events are so fun to watch, I just love 'em!

I'm happy to see more and more teams get their own unique cheers/chants from the crowd. It's a nice touch that helps to build team identities. I know many have probably existed for a while, but this was the first event where I could clearly here the non-O'Rangers ones.
Same here, like the screams for the Minty Maniacs and the kazoos for the Hornets.
Thunderbolts: More of a fart than a thunderclap, if we're being honest.
We used to be one of the best teams. Now I just hope we finish top of the bottom half of the table...
