Ajneesh totally threw Kantara team under the bus. This is not the only song in this movie he remade silently. Him saying "the team picked this version" is outrageous beacuse he is the one who made that version in this first place!.
First of all, I thank Kantara's Varaha Roopam because of which I came across such a wonderful song called Navarasam by Thaikkudam Bridge. I totally agree that they sound totally similar and I want the team Kantara to give y'all credits, you guys totally deserve it! Navarasam is artistically such a masterpiece. There may be similarities. The same rock music feel is there in "rammstein dalai lama" which was released in 2004. So many rock bands in India not even giving credits to the real owners.
Kantara team should give Thaikudam credit and even better appear in the next concert and have Vignesh sing along with Thaikuddam and have a Buta Kola and Theyam/Kathakali performance together. When you are complaining that the classical music is a copy, just remember that it’s based on Karnatic music. Ragas can give same Rhythm to multiple songs. Kathakali padam, and other similar classical music will of course sound similar. Even if you take multiple Kathakali music they all sound similar
Thaikkudam Bridge made their career out of "remixing" popular hits. The Navarasam song, as they themselves admitted, was "inspired" after listening to Kathakali music. Yes there is space to do that. However everyone has the space to do that. Thaikkudam Bridge cannot take a stand that only they are allowed to be "inspired" and anyone else doing the same thing is plagiarism. Why this double standard. Both songs are great creations and should be celebrated.

You are also not aware that the guitar riff of "Fish Rock" is a straight lift from "Joker and the Thief". You are also not aware that the "Chekele" song lyrics was stolen from folk song writer M.N Thankappan. Stolen because the lyricist was never given any credits for that song. The guitar and metal drum sections in Navarasam itself can be heard in innumerable heavy metal songs. There are no holy cows here. Absolutely Navarasam has to be an inspiration for Varaha Roopam. But plagiarism? Well one has to learn that from Thaikkudam. But of course they will say it was inspiration and so be it. Navarasam tells a very dark story while Varaha Roopam uses the same genre to tell an uplifting story. But in all fairness the makers of Kantara should have acknowledged Navarasam as an inspiration for them and nothing more.

But yea Thaikkudam does a lot of songs of famous composers but they always credit them for it in the very title itself . theyre called covers or tributes. In 2017 Navarasam inspired by and used set of Carnatic ragas and played them using set of instruments - local and western . In 2022 same efforts done for Varaha Roopam (Ragas: Thodi, Mukhari, and Kanakaangi). So for most people both sound similar and they get confused and talks about copying. This legally or morally not belong to anyone. So all I can say is get over it and make next best music which will please everyone

When I first listened to Varaha Roopam a few weeks back, I immediately recognized the similiarity. But I thought at the time that it was probably a collab with TB or something. The least that the music director can do is to acknowledge the 'inspiration' publicly.

When you are complaining that the classical music is a copy, just remember that it’s based on Karnatic music. Ragas can give same Rhythm to multiple songs. Kathakali padam, and other similar classical music will of course sound similar. Even if you take multiple Kathakali music they all sound similar

Thaikkudam Bridge made their career out of "remixing" popular hits. The Navarasam song, as they themselves admitted, was "inspired" after listening to Kathakali music. Yes there is space to do that. However everyone has the space to do that. Thaikkudam Bridge cannot take a stand that only they are allowed to be "inspired" and anyone else doing the same thing is plagiarism. Why this double standard. Both songs are great creations and should be celebrated.

You are also not aware that the guitar riff of "Fish Rock" is a straight lift from "Joker and the Thief". You are also not aware that the "Chekele" song lyrics was stolen from folk song writer M.N Thankappan. Stolen because the lyricist was never given any credits for that song. The guitar and metal drum sections in Navarasam itself can be heard in innumerable heavy metal songs. There are no holy cows here. Absolutely Navarasam has to be an inspiration for Varaha Roopam. But plagiarism? Well one has to learn that from Thaikkudam. But of course they will say it was inspiration and so be it. Navarasam tells a very dark story while Varaha Roopam uses the same genre to tell an uplifting story. But in all fairness the makers of Kantara should have acknowledged Navarasam as an inspiration for them and nothing more.

In 2017 Navarasam inspired by and used set of Carnatic ragas and played them using set of instruments - local and western . In 2022 same efforts done for Varaha Roopam (Ragas: Thodi, Mukhari, and Kanakaangi). So for most people both sound similar and they get confused and talks about copying.
This legally or morally not belong to anyone. So all I can say is get over it and make next best music which will please everyone

The guitar riffs, beats (both drums and chenda), general treatment and progression of the the song - All have been ripped off Thaikkudam Bridge's Navarasam. When I first listened to Varaha Roopam a few weeks back, I immediately recognized the similiarity. But I thought at the time that it was probably a collab with TB or something. The least that the music director can do is to acknowledge the 'inspiration' publicly.
