That's a more down to personal preference decision than anything tbh. I've had runs prior to equipping drawing dice where I've been just a fraction away from having a full charge from box jumps and lose the punish window to use it. the difference in gauge gain is very miniscule but it helped me in getting the gauge slightly more consistent at times.
I've not spent that much time with the other melee weapons to make a real comparison (asides from Wagasa). But after playing for a while with it I'd say Nodachi isn't that far off in terms of dps...assuming the player is good at incorporating Nodachi's basic katakuri attacks into their playstyle. As this weapon heavily relies on those for both dps and gauge build up. It still isn't enough ofc, nodachi's real strength comes from understanding the Kemono's patterns and exploiting their openings. Without that this weapon does struggle a fair bit at dealing dps that other weapons can easily dish out with more ease.
@@dr.kleimann i’m torn between the katana and the nodachi, i feel like i do way more damage with the katana + the i-frames in the last attack, have u tried doing speed runs with it?

Ive used nodachi from the beginning, you give me insight on how to literally molest everything with nodachi. Those counters were pree cool too.

@@AkrabSouls I mean...I've not used anything outside of Nodachi/Wagasa for melee in hunts so...yeah no runs with katana planned.
