  • Patrik Laine ignited Montreal's offence with 12 goals in his first 18 games with the Canadiens, but has been held scoreless in six straight and was benched in the team's loss to the Ducks on Sunday. Is the honeymoon phase over for Laine and the Habs? Domino's That's Hockey examines.

    Laine is a one trick pony and will always be a minus player. The Jets have done fantastic without him. The Jets traded Laine for Dubois and then traded Dubois for Iafollo, Villardi, and Kapari who play every game.

      Mostly every game kupari is still easing into his minutes and now since he’s a 3rd line centre due to Lowry injury but he’s been absolutely good
      he keeps getting better with shots he’s young and is in my opinion gonna be a very good 3rd liner if not a 2nd liner

      That is simple not true
      He only played 24 games so far
      And being benched is not a crime

      @ Look at his stats and tell me how it's not true. Even the season he scored the most goals he was still a minus player. Sorry to hurt your feelings.

    Playing Pezzetta at ANY time kills your credibility within the league and within the lineup. You can bench anyone, it sends NO CREDIBLE MESSAGE if you play Pezzetta.

    Laine is stuck with Dach and Newhook, he’s outproduced both in less than half the games they played. The vast majority of points he got were without them because they are playing that badly.
    Yes, defensively Laine is lackluster, which is why he shouldn’t be put with two other guys that are also atrocious in defense (-27 and -14).
    MTL needs to make some moves to finally have a 2nd line worth the name, Demidov will eventually be there, but that still leaves 1 spot open in trade, ideally a true 2 center.

    This is so shameful how unfairly patrick laine got treated. Please explain to us how is patrick laine suppose to perform when the center Kerby dach only got 9 assistance in 52 games? And how about Alex newhook third guy on the trios only got 5 assistance in 52 games with 9 goals???those are the players that patrick laine is forced to play with? If this is not abusing patrick laine then tell us what that is?

      If your team can afford a cherry-picker, Laine will give you goals. For most teams that's only going to happen on the powerplay. When Laine started in Winnipeg they had big Buff and Myers on defense, shovelling the puck to him on a consistent basis. Trying to remember if Trouba was even in the lineup when Patrick was drafted? Sadly he did not fit the post Byfuglien Jets at all. Here's hoping Montreal continues to be a good fit.

      U ever see caufield play , talking about a liability 💀💀 if he didnt have slafzilla and our top tier center suzuki , then i think you would be crying about the 5"7 sniper not the 6"5 monster of a player

    • @timkitchen692
      @timkitchen692 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@oven723 Sure a player averaging .9 points per game, can produce on the PP and at full strength, -1 in over 50 games is comparable to a guy that only really produces reliably on the PP and is - 7 in less then half the games. What we are getting right now is what Laine has always been. If Caufield couldn't consistently produce then you might have an agreement but this is simply the Norm for Laine, go 4, 5, 9 games without a point. That just is what he is. There is far more effort in Caufield's 2 way game then there ever has been from Laine.

    Let's see if Laine sees this as a kick-start to find a way to make an effort. He has only had 42 games played since the start of last season and had a knee injury just a few months ago. I suspect his conditioning is more than partly to blame. He was a PPG player for two consecutive years as recently as 22-23 and I am confident that he'll get some of that back.
