- In this episode of "Tyohaar Ki Thaali", Actress Tanaaz Irani joins host Sakshi Tanwar to celebrate the Parsi new year, Navroz. Tanaaz is in for a big surprise as Sakshi decides to make a vegetarian Dhansak, which is traditionally a meat-based preparation. The two friends discuss the history of the Parsi community and make Dhansak masala from scratch. The duo also make brown rice with fried potatoes along with Ravo, a traditional sweet dish.

Hyacinth flowers have great scent which she used in the thali. I plant bulbs of hyacinth, daffodils and tulips once in fall and they come bloom every year in spring signifying the renewal of life and we celebrate Navroz with excitement and joy.

It's a misconception that the Parsis have dhansak on a good occasion/'tyohar.'
Though we prepare it on any day it is has to be had on the 4th day after a person's demise.
We abstain from having non-veg. on the 1st 3 days. On the 4th day we resume eating non-veg. So on the 4th day you can have either chicken/mutton Dhansak.
Wow we Hindus also refrain from eating nonveg 10 days after our family members death. We resume eating meat or fish (atleast in eastern India) on the 11th day. On the 11th day we have to have a mutton or fish preparation as a symbolic gesture after coming out from the mourning period
