  • Title says it all. Cami & I slaying them clowns.
We use 8-10 lb line, 7 ft medium light spinning rods, 6-8 lb leader, egg sinker (1/16-1/2 oz) above a swivel (so you can feel the bite) Live shiners, they do not like small ones, you want 3.5-4.5" shiners. They usually bite while they are still alive, even just barely. Fishing on the bottom or slide float fishing near the bottom tends to work well. They can be caught in the entire water column, & some people swear by fishing just below the surface (not me). Live bait is the way to go. I know some people use big grey jigs. Shad or shiners are better imo.
You can usually see the fish rolling on the surface if the bite is hot. Early morning and dusk are the best times, but you can catch them all day. You tend to catch big clowns in deep water (12-20 feet) I have caught them close to the shore (3-5 feet depth) but they are usually small. Find them in lakes and deep holes in canals. Just ask around and you will find them.
Jurrasic Charters is a great service, check them out

We haven't uploaded in a long time, due primarily to being busy after the move to Ohio & being lazy. We have footage of literally hundreds of fish being caught; bullseye snake heads (snakehead), snook, peacock bass, clown knife fish, jaguar cichlids, channel catfish, blue catfish, largemouth bass, spotted gar & most recently, steelhead (Rainbow trout).
I also have instrumentation & career videos. If you aren't familiar with instrumentation, check out one of my videos.
Demand is high for these types of videos, one day I will get better at motivating myself.
Until then, tight lines. Thx for watching liking subscribing & MOST IMPORTANTLY commenting. I love you all take care.

Yeah they can be tough to locate I would suggest go to bait shops and talk to local until you find someone that's going to help you out Lake Ida in Delray and I forget the name of the one in Lake Worth are going to be your two main sources for these fish. They are usually in deeper parts of the lake or canals. If you can't find any Hot Tips go to Minor Road in Boynton Beach and fish in the middle under the bridge with live Shiners near the bottom that's a decent spot it's about 6 ft deep. Heed my advice though local bait shops until you find someone that's willing to help you Lake Worth to Boca Raton

If they're active in an area you can usually see them coming up for air, they call it "rolling"

Lastly but not leastly there's a silver lining on fishing for clowns.. there's some overlap with peacock bass so there's a pretty good shot you'll hook up on a few peacock bass while you're trying to get one
