I remember I had a work study job as a 19 year old in college, they didn't pay me my FIRST check on time...I was out the door as soon as I got it...and I was 19! I hope these nurses stop allowing themselves to be walked over and screwed financially. They could literally have another job in weeks, there's no excuse to be used and abused. And the sad part is, if they allow an employer to treat them this way...they are definitely being walked on, over and through in their personal relationships with 'friends', family, and romantic partners...that doormat mentality definitely doesn't stop with the job!
I live and work in this area as a nurse, those nurses and staff have been on strike for a while I’ve heard. The facility recently got bought out by some people in NY who know nothing about the long term care industry at all (at least that’s what I’ve heard from several other nurses). They own several nursing homes in the Western Massachusetts area. One facility I used to work at REFUSED to pay us in direct deposit and would cut paper check week after week and we would have to wait days after payday for them to be “delivered”, despite asking for routing and account numbers at the time of hire and offering direct deposit. Seemed sketchy, I was outta there so fast. I had considered applying at this exact facility as recent as a few months back because their job postings promised a good sized sign on bonus and hourly pay, and hefty shift differentials; glad I dodged that bullet. The lady speaking is an Associate Director of Nursing at a local college, I’m not sure if she has any affiliation with this facility. I certainly hope not and if she does I hope she gets out fast!!!
I think the nurses probably are coming back to continue to release each other so that they won’t be looked at abandonment. But here in my state you max out after 16hours. I would’ve told my friends don’t come release me because the next nurse might not come in and I am calling the board of nursing and state and tell them I have no one to release me and have been here for two shifts and supervisors and management and DON has been called what you want me to do. And then no nurse will be in the building and we will get our money and since there’s no nurse to work they would have to get agency and they would have to get there OMD of the facility to come in. I bet you when the right person doesn’t get paid they will pay.
Have they noticed how high rent and food is??? Those patients would be sent to another facility that can pay their obligations and that’s where I’d be working. My family needs care too. That’s why I work.
Who still distribute paper checks nowadays??? That's should've been the first red flag but nawww, they know slow minded staff gone still rock with them no matter what....Well good luck with becoming homeless soon!!! This happened at a facility I worked for back in 2013/2014. Walmart and Check cashing stores refused to cash checks because of the amount of checks that failed. Even the bank where the company banks at called the police on three nurses for fraud. The company had to call the police because nurses and aides were mad and causing a huge scene. They tried to tell us if we wait till the money clears we could get vacation time of 1 day. There was a lot of people that quit that week.

First of all it costs money to go to work lol gas, utilities to get clean, lunch, try to go to work with no money it's gonna be hard until your first payday for you. It's like going to school, yeah you gotta do it, but same thing at least you got a bus and lunches cause but what about your things, you can't do anything without your supply.
