I had the good fortune of being on a country show in Rosenberg, Tx, with Johnny, in the early 1990's, when he was making his come back. What a thrill for me to get to meet him! Undo The Right was, and is, one of my favorite songs to sing and to hear Johnny sing. He was such as gentleman that night. When I introduced my self, he was kind enough to say he had heard of me, even though I'm sure that was not true! What a testimony Johnny has showing the power of a loving God taking a the worst situations and turning them into good. Praise The Lord for Johnny Bush!
He makes me proud to be a Native Texan and a country music lover. I had the chance to hear him twice live. Once in Leakey, Texas at a Street Dance for 4th of July celebration back in 75' or 76' and then just recently at The Kenney Store at a table right next to the stage next to his wife. He had a unique voice and range. You definitely knew when you heard that distinct voice it was time to get out on the dance floor with his many hits. You'll be missed but you music will stay in my heart forever. Thank you for the memories.
What a beautiful tribute to a great country singer. I spent over 45 years in country music radio all over the U.S. and played countless Johnny Bush songs on the radio. It was always a treat to hear him. I'm only sad I never had the chance to meet him in person. And, God Bless Willie Nelson for being a life-long friend to Johnny and the things he did to support him when he needed it.
i recently had gotten sirius radio and on willy nelsons road house i first heard, johhny bush, omg his voice was like no other, i just asked my daughter to get me his greatest hits for christmas this year rest in peace
I met John 3 or 4 times in my 67 years as a musician. The last time was in Fischer, Texas when he played the old Devil's Backbone Tavern. Always the great showman, he put on a show as if he were auditioning for the President or the Queen. And it was 100 plus degree during sound check where he and I sat and talked. First time I met him in the early 70's at the Poteet Strawberry Festival. Along with the great Ray Price, they are two of the greatest TRUE country music singers who ever lived. RIP, Mr. Shinn.
After one of Johnny's shows in Greenville a few years back, my bandleader, Louise Rowe, talked to Johnny about a throat condition that prevented her from singing. He stood there and talked to her about it for a half an hour or more. He recommended the doctor that helped him. I don't think she followed through, but she was very appreciative of hid time talking to her about it. I've got a couple of photos of them on a phone that I used at the time.
Thank you so much for presenting this awesome tribute to Johnny Mission Park. Though I never saw him live I wore out a bunch of his 8 tracks back in the day. He is/was the epitome of a country singer and performer. Watching this reminds me also to being raised on KKYX with Mr. Jerry King. God bless Texas and Johnny Bush!
I just happened to stumble on this video while looking for a Johnny Bush song. All I can say is WOW! What an awesome tribute to such an awesome man. From the time I first heard of Johnny Bush I have been in love with his music. Every chance I get I love to perform his songs. Got to keep that Texas Honky Tonk music alive....by a misplaced Texan even in Virginia. Thank you so much for putting together this tribute. Y'all did a marvelous job! God Bless
Very sad to learn of Johnny Bush's passing. A real first rate talent, always with a real country sound. I hope we'll hear him singing again where the soul of man never dies. My favorite of his recordings is not one of more famous hits but the lesser known "My Mind Is A Bridge For Your Memory" which was also released under the title "My Mind All The Time".
When I first came to Texas as a young teen, well this man Johnny Bush had found a place in me. To me him and Willie where the two that if your young and like to drink and hit the dances, well you got to know his style. We lost a good man, condolences to his family.
A beautiful tribute to a Texas legend and my friend. He will live on through his songs, his shared faith and in the hearts and memories of those he touched both personally, and through his music. I have been playing his songs 24/7 to celebrate his life, and so grateful that he was so blessed to be such a "receiver", as he called it, to share his his lyrics and music with all of us. He has now joined God's band and will forever be appreciated by us who remain behind. I know that many of your friends were at the pearly gates to welcome you. 'Til we meet again Johnny.
So sad only 18 comments on this vid. Whiskey River has to be my favorite song of all time. I saw him play it at the Golden Stallion in San Antonio a few times. Has always been one of my go to songs when I am feeling down.

My buddy Bill Green did an awesome job in Family Bible. Thank you Mission Park for letting my dad Jerry King say a few words. God Bless Johnny Bush.

She's a sad and lonely Texas Dance Hall girl!...nice tribute. I wish I had gone to see him perform more often.
It’s odd seeing Buddy behind a Zum.
