In word focus we elder people know it's pronounciation but at first when kids try to read by dividing in chunks how they can decide it's sound is long or short...and then divide as exactly as you say....
While reading the word they should try both short and long then decide the appropriate one. See the native speaker knows English vocabulary so they will understand the word after trying but here in case of our children we should tell them if they hear the word for the first time.
Ma'am I understand it is difficult to make ka ds sit. But you have to b little strict and maintain a routine. I sit with them, with least distraction while studying and with daily routine. Like evening from 4.30 to 6 they should study and listen to me 🙂 else they will not be allowed to play after that. We as parent are little strict with respect to their education and study time. And one good thing is my other family members support this.

My elder son is in class 2 he studies independently but my daughter on pp2 does not. For her I have to take time and while sitting with her I do small chores. As a parent it's really hard to do everything from House work to teaching kids, but slowly try and take time you will definitely see results dear.

I like your video but I think while speaking prefix and suffix you are saying the opposite. I mean pre means pahale but you are saying suffix first then prefix .
When there is division after a vowel then vowel takes long sound, and if there is division after the consonant (which had vowel before it)then vowel is short.
This is very easy. If you are reading uncle, here the vowel 'u' sound is /u/ that is short vowel. When you are reading uniform, here the letter U sound is U only that is called long vowel. Short vowel gives a short sound, /a/ /e/, /I/, /o/, /u/. Whereas long vowel sound is same as the letter sound. A E, I, O, U.

Yes class 1 kid will not be able to do it. We have to help them by dividing the word which they are finding difficult to read.
