Just so thildrish, just a Name. And Ford has made both the old one and the new one, so of cause they named it like they like. Come on your life, not live in the 70-80 . And it looks like a Capri in some details. Good looking too, have you no taste in life.!!!😢

Ford definitely ruined the capri name. The capri's were like mini American muscle cars yet what Ford brought out with the new car is equivalent to a van mom's drive to drop their children off at the football field
@@MV1-OP81-Mclaren I know I just don't get what Ford and their designers were thinking. Must of been sat around a table saying right let's bring back the iconic Capri by making it a big SUV. Electric only. Yes that sounds great.....
It seems that Ford basically left Europe. In America, Ford kicks ass with its models. Ford has been probably losing sales here, so its going with the best next thing, VW. It is probably better for them and more profitable to reskin VW and have a bit more sales than make a new car or ever withdraw from Europe.
@@mk6rich I know ha and this is the point that Ford can not of done their market research. Unless they just targeted very young people or the American market. To say this is the new "Capri" beggars belief
@@DriveWithAndy I can only see this as being bought by people who have zero interest in cars, It's obviously aimed at the Qashqai types. Even the Ford advert is like "look how cool the original Capri was... this is the new boring one"
Wow… the name “Capri” they forgot what that name really meant in the aesthetics in designing this one! I guess non of the current team were alive to see the beauty of the original… they just took a name from a list it seems!
Reminds me 70s British Leyland scratching round the various parts bin and borrowing an SUV battery platform from VW and then trying to make something from it. The designers know it’s naff, but Ford mgt are trying to get away with blindsiding the public by sticking a Capri badge on it. From what I can see, they have just stuck some minor panel mods onto an explorer.. If anyone buys this, it’s liable to be corporate idiots and people with no appreciation of the original. A new EV to soon be glued to dealer forecourts awaiting massif discounting to try and shift the barges!
This is not a Capri and was never designed to be a resurrected low slung sporty coupe. I think the design is pretty mediocre and I cannot understand why Ford have tried to ape the Polestar 2 but with a taller and bloated body. But most of the opprobrium has been about the use of the Capri name. Perhaps Ford thought it would not register with a new generation (or two) or they were being incredibly naive in thinking people would not make the comparison. The car should have been named the Explorer Fastback which it what it is.
@@richardpiper4828 i agree with you on what you have said. See I really don't mind an electric SUV nowerdays, they have their place but to name this a Capri just is so wrong. The Capri brand stopped 40 years ago ! The name means nothing to this generation move on it’s a name that’s not been used it’s 2024. Why are people going on about the old cars ? I had a capri it was terrible and changed it for an escort RS Turbo that was ok ish I’d buy this car the name has been used again but as said the majority don’t really care about the cars 40 plus years ago.
Why are car makers obsessed with ’SUV’s and ’crossovers’. I’ve always tried to avoid these styles when ordering a new car because they look rubbish in my opinion.
I think people should get over the name. I never thought Capri was a great car name anyway, it always sounded a bit wet to me. That notwithstanding the new Capri appears to have a good range and to tick all the boxes required of a modern car. The looks are subjective and I don’t much like them, but then there are a lot of badly proportioned and messily detailed cars about now and at least the new Capri doesn’t have an overwrought front end like some of the contemporary Korean cars, and the sides are free of origami influenced creasing. So that’s something I suppose. I suspect it will sell, to companies mostly, on its decent range. As for the appearance of the thing, well, it’s just another car.
